When i try to start game, crashes straight away?
« on: April 08, 2017, 09:41:53 am »
Ok, so.
I recently made a Map, and then i went to click 'Export' as you do.
After i clicked that, it did Export, but then it straight away crashed after that.

Now, every time i try to open Feral Heart, it loads a black screen then crashes.
I have tried deleting the problem Map, and even all my other maps, but it won't work?

Help?

Go to your particles folder and delete anything ending in _0 or _1 and try again.

Hmm... could it be a mesh you used? If you downloaded a mesh from somewhere else, that may very well have caused an issue.
You can try going through your folders and removing the object files you used for that map and see if that helps.

ry changing your rendering system to the Direct one not OpenLG.
This happened to me a couple times, actually when exporting a map.

If this isn't the trick, check back and let us know!

In order to edit or change your rendering subsystem from one to another, as your game crashes on startup, you will need to edit your Ogre.cfg file. Open the ogre.cfg file under C:\FeralHeart with the program called Notepad. You should get something that looks like this:

What you do is make the ogre.cfg file change your Render System to what you would like it to be by typing it in. So, right next to the "Render System=" at the top, you would put "Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem" or vice versa if your rendering subsystem is already Direct3D9, type in "OpenGL Rendering Subsystem"

Make sure you save and then exit the cfg file!

You should maybe consider thinking about how big your map is, and how many objects you have used. I know that polys on objects, and the collisions for objects that are not installed to the game by default can cause an issue during the exporting process as your computer might not be able to handle the size of the export needed. Think you could share with us the size of the map, and what object packs you may have used in it as well?

If you're having trouble still launching the game at this point to find out this information for us, you can alternatively look at Local Disk (C:) \\ FeralHeart \\ Media \\ Terrains and open up your map's folder, then open up the mapnameObjects.cfg to locate what you have used, and how many times you have used it. To find out the map's size, then that can be located in the same folder, only it would be named mapnameTerrain.cfg.

Another problem could be due to you using a fire or other particles that you have installed to the game when it's already there now by default from the latest patch (1.15). Try removing those from your my_objects folder if you do have them there.
