Musical Interests?

I just came back from vacation and on the way up and down I listened to a bunch of different types of music. I love all kinds of music and a thought came to my head, what makes music so appealing? I know it's different for everyone so I'm curious about something. When it comes to music, do you like it based by the messages it can be interpreted into, the beat, a specific genre that you stick to, or is there a combination of things that draw you to certain songs? For me I think it varies by some songs, because I love a lot of different types of music I generally listen to them for the message, the beat, of course the way it sounds, and if I have a personal connection with it, moodwise or elsewise. What about the rest of you Feral Heart floofs? What draws you into liking a song first?

What I usually and unintentionally do when it comes to music, is first of all like it because of the music itself; I don't quite listen to the lyrics first thing. Only when I've truly learned to enjoy it do I listen to the lyrics and then debate whether I continue to enjoy this music or not. Sometimes the wrong messages can be put into songs, so that's why I'm careful the second/third time I listen to it. Nice topic, floof!

Hmm.... Well, my music taste is VERY varied, so I guess I listen for a few things.
Depending on the genre,
-Harmonies
-Brass choirs (AMAZING)
-Little background sounds like bells, a certain quiet string, etc.
-If I can relate lyrics/melody to OCs or a fandom
-Can I create something to this song

Nice topic!

I listen to classical music, mostly piano songs like Sheep may Safely Graze. I also like Cat Stevens.

My favorite song is In a Big Country, though.

I like alternative, post-hardcore, rock, any of that sort. I'm emo trash and I usually listen to Pierce The Veil. My favorite song by Pierce The Veil is either Props and Mayhem or The Divine Zero. A lot of people don't like this band or screamo, but I get it, I didn't like it at first, but I'd give it a try. :P
