Game Discussion / Assumptions
« on: November 01, 2013, 03:04:00 am »
Has anyone ever had anything just... assumed about them? Things that aren't even true? Like... maybe you have a brother or a sister, or any family member, and people assume and accuse that you're the same person. Or something similar to that. Or, maybe you're a male wolf with pink hair, and people automatically assume you're gay. You know... assumptions like that.

I find it quite... irritating. Why do people just come up and assume such things?

LionCave

LionCave is a realistic 3D lion MMORPG placed in an African setting. Players will be able to hunt, form prides, and raise young in a realistic environment.

Hunting will be realistic, and will involve using the stalk and then chase and kill mechanism. You will have to make sure you are close enough to have a chance, yet far enough away that it doesn't alert your prey. Bigger and more difficult prey, such as wildebeest and buffalo, will require a pride effort to bring down. The hunting animations will also be realistic, with actual biting and clawing animations. Yes, there will be a bit of blood. After the kill is made, the player can then eat the prey they brought down. You must hunt at least once every three days before beginning to starve. If you don't play the game for a month or longer, your character will die due to starvation and dehydration.

Now... onto the subject of mating. In order to have cubs, you must mate. However, there will be no actual mating animation due to the fact that I know people will be immature about it. Instead, the two characters will merely nuzzle, while the female will roll on her back and purr, pawing at the male's face while the male nuzzles her. There will also be an option in your bio to turn 'allow mating requests' on or off. To mate with someone, you must click on their avatar and send a mating request. There is an ability to make it so no one can spam you with requests by simply turning mating off.

Cubs will be actual players. When making a character, you have the choice to play as a newborn cub, or an adult. If you choose newborn cub, there will be a list of available pregnant mothers, with their activity and last login date shown. Pregnancy lasts 1 week, and the last three days are open for cubs to select the mother. The last day is the due date, but the cubs aren't born until both the mother and cubs are all online at once. If the cubs aren't born yet a week after the due date, it is a miscarriage.

Cubs must be nursed when first born, and they can't walk for the first three days of life. Just crawl. They will be weak and defenseless. After the days, they learn to walk and can play. The cannot hunt or kill until they turn into adolescents. If the mother does not feed the cubs, they will die. However, any other lioness can nurse or hunt for any cub, in the case of neglectful mothers.

Prides can be led by either a male or a female. If the leader doesn't log in for over a month, the pride is disbanded. Prides can have as many members as they want to, there is no limit. The bigger the pride is, the more successful they are. To join a pride, you can pull up a list that lists all prides that the leader is currently online in, and the pride's activity level. Select one, and send a joining request. If you are accepted, pride members will become blue dots on your minimap.

There will also be many emotes and actions you can perform, such as roaring, play-fighting, and snarling/growling.

PvP will be an option. You can have the option to turn PvP on or off. When it is off, no one can attack you. If it is on, anyone can attack you, unless they have PvP turned off. There will also be no health bar, as wounds will show on the character.

EDIT: Website added. http://lion-cave.freeforums.net/

UPDATE: We are thinking of using this model as the base. (Since it is a lioness, we can just add a mane to make it male, and downsize and add spots to make a cub. That's why I just want a lioness, instead of getting both.)

The only problem with that model is... it's $50. Though... that is one epic looking model for $50, don't ya think? Wouldn't you wanna play a game with a lioness model like /that/?

You can find the model here: http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/lioness-animation-fur-3d-model/687139

If anyone interested in LionCave would like to help buy the model, we would be grateful. Plus... such a nice thing would not go un-repaid. We would definitely think of something to repay anyone kind enough to help us with the model, and thus the entire production of LionCave.

Red, I know many people have been complaining about you and the way you run things... but I personally think you're awesome, and doing the best job you possibly can. Don't let anything the other members say get to you. You're the best admin I've known, and I hope you stay with us forever. You deserve the best.~

Characters / Vio~ Alpha of the SpiritBloods
« on: October 29, 2013, 12:54:46 am »
Vio

Vio is the alpha of a pack called the SpiritBloods. he is swift, calculating, and very intelligent. He is not the strongest, but he usually wins in battles due to his quick thinking and strategic way of fighting.

Looks: He is a grayish wolf with a soft violet hue. His paws are brown, and he has blue eyes.

Backstory: Vio was the runt of a litter of four. He was very small and weak compared to the others. Because of this, he was ignored by his mother for about two weeks after his birth. After those two weeks, she gripped him in her jaws and carried him away from the rest of his family. He was then abandoned by the Y River, and left to die. However, he was rescued by an old female wolf called Sage, who took him in and cared for him. This wolf was a shaman, or medic. When Vio was about three months old, Sage took him as her apprentice, teaching him many things about healing, and the world around him.
He loved Sage. He loved her as if she was his mother, and she cared for him as if he were her son. From this kind old wolf, Vio learned many things, and it enhanced his intelligence and ways of thinking. He knew how to cure some diseases, help broken bones, heal cuts and wounds... and he also learned to calculate his enemy's movements in battle. He learned to be swift thinking, fighting with his head, not brute force like most.
When Vio turned 8 months old, Sage got a severe illness that he didn't know how to treat. She was like this, in a lot of pain, for days. Vio could do nothing but watch, as Sage would writhe about in pure agony as she suffered.. until the last day. After a week of illness, Sage passed away in her sleep. Vio made a grave for the loving old wolf that had raised him, and stayed by that grave for a month.
Soon, Vio began to wander away from his den, and became a sort of... traveller. It was on his travels that he met two other wolves, Ryka and Kolok. They became close friends, and hunted, played, and slept together each day. They became the start of his pack, the SpiritBloods. Vio was the alpha male, with Ryka as the alpha female.  Soon, his pack expanded and grew... though Ryka and Kolok both died in a failed hunting mission. Vio now leads his pack alone, but fearlessly, and strong-willed.
Sometimes you can see Vio hanging out by the Y River, where Sage's gravesite is located.

MARKINGS

Okay, so here is my idea for markings... I think we should be able to have three markings per body part, and each marking could be a different color, like in the Arokai canine creator. This makes it easier to make certain animal breeds you couldn't do before. Like, say, you want a red panda. The tail rings are dark orange, but the ears are black! You can't do that with the current markings. So, with this, you'd be able to pull something like that off. You could also make dog breeds like a collie, or whatever, or a calico cat. I also think you should be able to put markings on your wings, as well. That'd be a nice addition.

NEW ACTIONS

We should also have some more actions. Maybe a tail wagging action for canines, or a meow for cats? Here is my current action list:

FELINE: Meow
Hiss
Purr
Snarl
Calm roar
Growl
Growling roar
Flex claws
Roll on Ground
Flick Tail
Lash Tail
Nudge
Nuzzle
Lick

CANINE: Growl
Snarl
Bark
Whine
Submission
Tail raised
Roll on Ground
Tail flick
Nudge
Nuzzle
Lick
Wag tail

FUR
Now, most of you may say there is problems with this. However, here are some ideas.
We should have fur. Not textured fur, not a fur mask, FUR. Actual, legitimate, FUR. It would make FH look much nicer, don't you think? It would also be nice to have better character textures, and maybe improve the wolf model a bit to look more realistic. There could also be a 'no fur' check box. If you check this, then you won't see fur. The 'no fur' checkbox is good for people with bad computers.
Now, the issue of lag we must address. When I say fur, I don't mean use the actual 'fur' tool. No, I mean an optical illusion. You know Sims, right? You know how the pets have fur, yet you can have a million pets in your town and it still won't crash? (Unless your computer is really bad, but it isn't the pets that causes this, it is all the buildings, and cars, and crap like that.)  Well, that is because they use something that has to do with planes and a texture, which makes it LOOK like it has REAL fur, but it is LAGLESS fur. I know a modeler who could help out with that, and give the model some lagless fur.

BETTER RUN ANIMATION
So, I'm sure you all want a better looking run animation. Well, the current run is unrealistic, as cats and wolves don't lift all their legs at once when running. Or, at least the legs are at different angles, and some paws hit the ground before others.

MORE REALISTIC TEXTURES

The title explains itself... more realistic grass and textures. Let Brokami handle that part. XD

A BETTER PRESET SYSTEM

This way, people won't need to DOWNLOAD presets. It would be hosted on the server, like how they said they would in Aro'kai. (Read the Aro'kai FAQ for this... I don't remember exactly how it works.)

~Hunting and Eating
Yes, I know the main idea for hunting has already been brought up several times. But, instead of suggesting that we HAVE hunting, I am suggesting an idea for hunting.

So, when we think of 'hunting', we probably think of hunting in IT, right? Well, what if it was more.. realistic? Like, say you had to stalk it, and chase it down. Then, you could use attacks to bring the prey down, and then maybe eat it when you're done hunting. Basically, it could be like this:
CTRL: Stalk mode. While in stalk mode, you can see the scent trails of prey.

When you get close to your prey, you can click on it. Your character will then begin to chase it, but it is up to YOU to attack it, with these controls:
1: Maul- Leap at the prey, clawing your way onto its back. Then, you can try to strangle its neck.
2: Pounce- Used on small prey, such as rodents or birds. You pounce on it, and it dies in your claws. Good for warrior cats.
3: Throat bite- Used when running at prey from in front. You can lunge at their throat and attempt to sink your jaws in, killing it.

After it is dead, you can press 'F' to feed on it. (I know F is 'fall' when flying and under water, but it should have land use.)

You could also drink water by going up to water and pressing R.

Carrying~
You could be able to pick up pups, and 'dead' or injured characters. However, they'd need to accept a carrying request. Click on them, and then click 'pick up'. Then press P to drop them.

Den making~
You could be able to dig into the side of a hill by pressing H. Or, you could collect sticks or stones or whatever and build a den.

PvP~
We could have a PvP system. Meaning.. you can fight other players. There's the chance you can be injured, and when you make your account, you could choose the 'blood' setting. Meaning, you could choose whether to show blood/injuries or not. Recomended for younger players or people who don't like blood. For people with the 'blood' setting on, you could SEE your injuries. Like you can SEE your enemy's injuries in Skyrim. PvP could reduce powerplay.
PvP controls:
1- Maul: Lunge at your opponent, scratching madly at them and lunging at their throats.
2- Scratch
3- Head Slam- Slam your paw into your opponent's head/
4- Skull grip- Grip your opponent's head between your claws.
5- Parry- Roll to behind your opponent, slashing at their hindquarters.

Tell me what ya think in the comments.

P.S. Please.. do not bring up the issue of not having the source code.

Game Discussion / FeralHeart Total Drama Island
« on: July 13, 2013, 08:51:58 pm »
Okay, so I have heard of a lot of people doing 'olympics-like' events in FH, so I thought... why not host one myself? This one is based off of something I have heard of, Total Drama Island. (I actually got the idea from a Zelda fanfiction..) But yeah, so here is the basic idea:

There will be two teams, the red team, and the blue team. You will be identified to tail-tip color. At the beginning, there will be 12 people on each team, and each week we will host three different events. One on Monday, one Wednesday, and one Friday, all three different events. At the end of the week, one person will get voted off from the team with the least amount of wins, to leave the event island in the boat of shame. At the end of the month, the team with the most players left will receive a prize for each member, and then at the start of the next month, all new players are selected.

RULES:
1. Do NOT cheat. During Parkour, you may not use wings, or set home.
2. Don't insult other members.
3. We are here to make friends and team bonds, not enemies.
4. Have fun.

Events:
 Parkour
Flight Racing- Basically, you have to fly along a coarse, going through, around, under, and above obstacles. If you fall or hit into something, you're out.
Racing along a track, the team who reaches the finish first wins. The ENTIRE team must be at the finish for your team to win.
Maze- Extremely complicated maze, along with obstacles. If you are caught cheating, you and your team automatically lose.
Infected- Basically, you're chased by zombies. Think Red Dead Redemption or stuff like that.
Diving- You must dive off a cliff and land in a specific area of water. If you miss, you are out. The team with the most successful jumpers wins.

-More to be added-
In order to sign up to be part of this event, please fill out the application below:

Character Name:
In-Game username:

Also, if an event is not currently going on, like during after-events moments, you can have time to have parties or whatever and be interviewed.

Stories / WolfMoon: Dark Mist
« on: July 13, 2013, 04:34:46 pm »
Summary: A war is rising between the two packs of the Dukai'Rikku forest, the Ru'Kixu and the Moriuko. The air is constantly filled with the sounds of battle howls and fighting, and four young wolves, training to be fighters, are caught in the middle of it! Vuri, Raiko, Lifei, and Maki must fight to survive in this wolf-eat-wolf world... will they make it? Or will they be lost to war?
WolfMoon
Dark Mist

Chapter 1
Rain fell down from the dark sky, hitting hard against the forest floor. Thunder sounded overhead, followed by the howls of battle. Snarls, barks, and aggressive howls echoed through the trees, as the battle raged on. Wolf fought wolf, and many fell to the ground, never to re-awaken.
"Zanatei!" came the bark of one white female, rushing to the side of a fallen rusty brown male. The fallen wolf slowly struggled to stand, but collapsed on the ground, casuing water droplets to rise and hit the other wolf in the face.
"Moriuko! Retreat! Zanatei is injured! Someone, help me take him back to the den!" she howled. Other wolves threw down their opponents, rushing to the she-wolf's side, and gently began to lift their injured comrade from the ground.

-TBC, please do not post until I give the okay.-

Okay, I have come up with a theory.. if the 'source code' was truly needed to make the game, then that must mean that it is IN the game somewhere. Meaning, if the source code is located somewhere within the FeralHeart directory, it must be able to be found. Think about this.. how can Simba make 'updates' for FH(FH+), yet the mods claim that they cannot without the source code? If Simba can do it, it must mean that either a new source code can be created to update the game, or he has found the source code, meaning it can be found. All we need if my theory is correct, is a very skilled programmer/coder, whatever, who can search through the game's files to find the source code and decipher it, and then pass it on to the moderators, and updates can be added to the game. If the source code is not in the FeralHeart directory, then that must mean that it is not part of the game itself, meaning it is NOT truly needed for game updating. All you have to do to add more emotes: go to the emotes CFG file, and put in a new emote code. How do you think custom emotes were created? Or items? It's the same thing. I'm sure you could also code in prey or new chats if you honestly wanted to. I think someone should test out my theory, and search through the FH directory for the source code, or see if new things can be implemented into the game without it.
I apologize if this theory seems disrespectful in any way, shape, or form. It is, as I stated above, just a theory, although I would hope someone could test it. ~Vio
