Clawing at the soft ground, Xachi let out a grunt as she nosed through the dirt. It was now after the first hurricane had hit, and the American badger was practically starving. Her black eyes brightened as she spotted a plump worm wriggling in the dirt, and she immediately scooped it into her mouth. Gobbling down the rest of the worm, she felt a little bit better now that something was in her stomach. Glancing around warily, she then began to continue her digging for food.
A little while later, when she was exhausted and her stomach was satisfied, she lumbered over to the nearby river (Mississippi River) and bent down to take a drink. Letting the water soothe her mouth, she retreated from the river and began to scout around for more worms just in case. As she headed towards the soft ground, she let out a grumble as she felt the light patter of rain fall on her fur. Shaking her head, she hurried back to her newly built sett for shelter until the storm had passed. As the sow poked her head in, Xachi scurried deeper into her tunnel till she was at the end. Deciding to get some sleep, she curled up and nestled into the dirt, her body lifting and falling as she slept.
