My antivirus says the Feralheart website is malicious?
« on: August 11, 2017, 06:17:01 am »
It only started doing this recently. I've been on Feralheart almost since it was released, and I have never had this problem until recently. First, it was malicious ads popping up when trying to run the game (pressing the "Play Game" button would open up a malicious website, no matter what browser I used), and now my antivirus is alerting me of a malicious website every single time I go to feral-heart.com

I use Avast primarily, and Malwarebytes for all the nasties that Avast can't handle, and as far as I'm aware, my computer is free of viruses and/or adware, and Feralheart is the only website in which this occurs.

Can anyone with smarts on the subject give me a little help? So that maybe this website will stop trying to open bad stuff?

I was only able to get the domain (https://y5wflt0xibmoufuvsayg1efy80yq0ystkjncf76cqm.com, I presume based off the image) to appear once when loading the login page with firefox and addons disabled. It looks like it uses/is used by javascript, so if you disable/block scripts it should vanish. Alternatively, you could just block the domain in your local firewall (if Windows lets you pass hostnames as parameters, anyways...).

I don't think the site is legitimate (it redirects to https://www.google.de and the domain name isn't registered by Google, but by some private domain company in Panama)*, so it is probably good that your antivirus picked it up and blocked it the url from being contacted. My guess is it's probably from a bad ad.

If I may add on...

There have been multiple instances of firewalls and anti-virus programs labeling FeralHeart as malicious. This is not, by any means, a genuine threat or danger as FeralHeart has always been a safe place for one to dawdle on since its initial release date back in 2011.
Protection programs label FeralHeart as such due to FeralHeart's a website not often visited or recognized so as a precaution to unfamiliar websites, it is marked as something worth being blocked by your anti-virus.

Follow the instructions provided by Vilivikhorith. I can guarantee that there is nothing worth concerning yourself over.

Thanks for looking that up for me! That's kinda scary though that it's redirecting to what appears to be a false Google website. I'm gonna go ahead and run a few scans just to make sure that I don't have any kind of adware, because that seems a bit sketchy to me.

The website hasn't come back up since I made this thread, so that's a plus.

I am well aware that Feralheart has always been safe, but with the introduction of such intrusive ads, I was worried that they might be more problematic than before, assuming that these popups I have been receiving are from the Feralheart website itself.

Note that these popups are NOT from pressing the "play" button to start the game (i am aware that popups come from doing this), but that the popups are coming up simply by going to the Feralheart website.
