Presets & Markings Tutorials / Skin and bones

All skin and bones

Start out with a preset. We'll go with preset 2. Open it up in GIMP

Next, grab fmarkSkeletonBody.png and layer it over the preset.
Adjust it over the body if you're using a cat. If you're doing a dog it should be fine. Next, paint over the paws in black
Add a new layer underneath the black markings, and paint under it. I'm using a lighter version of the fur.


Merge the black markings onto the layer you painted.
Next step is to go to Colors> Color to alpha, and set it to black. This will give you the bones themselves

Blur the bones.

Duplicate the marking layer. Turn one invisible, and turn the other's opacity waaaay down.

Merge the low opacity onto the base, and export to preset_2body.jpg or whatever file you're using*

Hows that look? Really simple, not worth a tutorial on? But wait, what was the other bone layer we made?

Use the smudge tool with bristles, and brush the bones the direction of the fur. Turn the opacity down very low, I have it at 15.8. Export the bone layer as bones.png

Open the body file, add a white layer above the base. Set it to low opacity, I'm using 21.7. Export it as skinny.png

Now the light will hit the bones and shade them. It's subtle, if you want a more dramatic impact add some darker colors below the markings before you merge onto the main body. The step is marked with an *

The northern lights from Kibou Ridge, made by Coralstar51199, are not available to map makers. So I made my own.

I made and coded the mesh, I mostly made the texture myself but used the layer mask Kuri made here

Feel free to edit this however you want

I made this account about a couple years ago, but it has posts from eight years ago on it. The email address I used is one I made only five years ago. There weren't any old characters in-game.

I just started playing Feral Heart again in the past six or so months and didn't notice the old posts on my account until I made my 'first' post today and saw my stats looked weird.

Does anyone know how the accounts got linked?

Name Meaning: Creek or stream
Age: Four
Gender: Female
Parents: Unknown x Unknown
Siblings: N/A
Affinity/s: Mainly ice, currently weak but practiced often.
Personality: A very bubbly young cat, friendly and very outgoing to the point of annoyance. She'll open up to just about anything and doesen't know much about things like fear and starvation.
Short Bio: Mkondo is very friendly, and tends to gt attatched to others easily. She doesen't like daytime much and it takes a lot of poking and prodding to get her grumpily out of the den and into a bright area. She can barely vaporize, and only for short periods of time. Mkondo practices her ice powers at night near the shore, where she can't be watched and ridiculed. Thats the reason she tends to be grumpy and tired during the day, and it takes a while for her eyes to adjust to the sunlight instead of the moonlight or starlight.
