Regular FH has the same problem as FH+. No maps, just blackness. Working on reinstalling...

Alright...so I recently decided I'd check up and see how FH was doing after my recent hiatus. Pleasantly surprised to find FH+ as well.

Installed the patch, installed FH+, both will start, open, and allow me to access all of my characters. But they're in a black world. I know the patch says to simply reset their home to Bonfire, but I click reset and it comes up with a (?) instead of a map name. I think my characters are perhaps in some old map worlds that I made, and got deleted when I tried reinstalling FH...

How do I fix this?

XD Just absolutely no idea what was causing the problem. At least if I knew what might be causing it I could devote more time to trying to fix it, but my only idea was that it might be the foreign texture or object conflicted with ogre. Which didn't entirely make sense because I have seen the exact same sakura tree in another map. But now it is entirely pre-existing objects....And it's a totally debilitating bug, I can't do anything with my map until it is fixed unless I want more fir trees. o.o Fir and Oak trees are the only trees that work anymore...

And the strangest thing is that I have plenty of other awkward new objects in my map that show up just fine. I have a flower textured palm tree, and a group of flower-textured dens, and they show up just fine...

D'oh! :P I was gonna mention that just popping into a thread and acting like it was an open-request thread was a bit presumptuous, but it would have been rude to say at the time...Probably still is. o.O

Jazz have you ever had any trouble getting the objects you make to appear in your maps?

XD I don't have anything so simple as an error message.

Ok. So I took an acacia tree. I took its acaciaLeafYellowMat and made a acaciaLeafYellowMat2 and made it pink and added it to the material file. There is no reason machine-wise, lag-wise, or foreign-object-wise that it should not show up.

This is how the example map I made in mapmaker looks. It is a standard yellow-leafed acacia tree, a previously existing game item with pre-existing code and pre-existing texture, next to a pink-leafed acacia that the only difference is a hue change and a 2 added to the name. The code is perfect so far as I can tell.

I'm having a similar issue with 'custom' objects. First is trees - I have four different variations I'm alternating trying to figure out why it won't. The only trees that show up in my map are fir trees and oak trees but I have red oaks and cherry blossom trees in it. Exporting does not fix the problem.

Then I have an issue with crystals-with-no-glow not showing up but the crystals-with-glow will show up which is kind of amusing. :P

And yeah it all works perfectly in mapmaker and vanishes when I test it out on a character. I have also had a friend test it out and they don't see the items either so its again not something to be fixed by exporting...

It's so much easier to fix a problem when you actually know what the problem is. x.x lmao

Edit: Oh! Also the birch trees I downloaded from Wombat the other day won't work...pretty much the same as the cherry tree thing....Maybe there's a coding difference? *hunts*

OMG I am such an idiot >_< So I joined a pack yesterday and got their map so I -gasp- logged on with my character to get on their map. We RPed had a good time, everyone went to bed. So I go back to the Cape. And see my new map and I'm like "Oh cool I forgot those appear before I finish them, lets go try them out.

Some come up as they should. Some give like a 'no map found' error (two of them) and Rigidity appears twice. Neon appears once, and I know its an empty map so I don't touch it. TheLuckyOne appears once - and that's the one I ran around on for ten minutes checking out cliffs. I try it. I crash.

Now I can't log back onto that character without crashing. Is there any way I can fix this? Will deleting the map screw it up even worse?

Edit: =/ I just crash FH when I try loading the animal meshes, even without textures.
