Forum Suggestions & Ideas / Primary Groups Board

Primary Groups Board

As you know, we have two child boards in the "General Roleplay" board - "Groups Roleplay Board" and "Group Advertising Board". In the "Group Roleplay Board" child board you are suppossed to roleplay there with your group and in the "Group Advertising Board" child board you can advertise your FeralHeart roleplay related group. With the update of the forum, Redlinelies has added a few new profile fields that you can edit by clicking the "Profile" tab in the forum menu, and then select "Forum Profile". There's a field for a user's main group - with it you can show to anyone who visits your profile that you have a pride, pack or group that you see as your in-game or forum family. Keep in mind that this is just a field. Imagine if you could make your own thread dedicated to your group. Your group (and non-group members) could use it as a chat thread, you could include info about your group like how many members you have, what are the requirements to join it, what are the rules of the group, group banner, etc. Of course, this doesn't mean that everyone will be free to do whatever they want but rather smaller sanctions (such as double-posting) could be over-looked.

1. Where?

The new board could be made as a board of the "Community" section because I believe it will fit better there.

2. Why?

We have a child board for advertising our roleplay related groups, so why not have a board for advertising our not roleplay related groups?

Please ask below if you have any questions!

- The Outcast Blade -

Name: Balfour
Alias: Four
Gender: Cis Male
Physical Age: 2 1/2 Years
Species: Dire Wolf
Orientation: Heteroromantic asexual
Scent: Lavender
Looks: In-Game

Every story has a beginning.

Balfour's started 10,000 years ago during the Late Pleistocene epoch. He was born an orphan, a parent-less child. Both of his parents had died in an accident and he remembers little about them. Dubbed an outcast because of his strange body markings, Four was left out on an iceberg to drown. A dire wolf, Duke, was the one to rescue him from his premature fate. Duke claims to have known his parents and he used to tell him different stories about them, about their many ventures and dreams. Balfour joined Duke's decent sized pack and that's where he met his younger half-brother, Baldur. Growing up with his sibling, he developed a strong sense of justice and learned the importance of family and tradition. Personality wise, he always puts others before himself and his biggest flaw is that he can get really irritated at times. He's also a little clumsy, but you can't judge him for that. During his time with the pack, he was often seen chasing butterflies and stalking birds. Thanks to this, the pack, at times, treated him differently but they were grateful to have him because of his knowledge, of birds mostly.

He later became part of the Night Watch, dismissing his role within the pack. The Night Watch is a guild of elite assassins from different clans, harboring unique talents and unrivaled intelligence. They believe that, as servants to the God of Death, they must serve above all else, delivering upon certain individuals the "gift" of death. They only assassinate targets they have been hired to kill and may not choose who is worthy of the gift by themselves. Balfour's wish was to avenge his parents, that wish nurturing the reason of joining the guild along with the possibility of unraveling their mystery, even though killing for personal gain or out of anger or hate was forbidden among the members. As time ticked onward, he learned that Duke was the one who murdered his parents. Four went after him in insatiable lust for blood, quickly abandoning the guild to assassinate Duke. Nonetheless, he has yet to realize why Duke had lied to him all this time and took care of him in the first place.

"In the ecstatic arch of evening, I have seen a story emerge from a cloud of wings..."

Greetings and salutations! A few of you might know me personally, and some others may have seen me on the forums from time to time.
Since I'm writing this biography, I've been thinking lately on returning to FeralHeart.
My profile has been fairly empty for a long time, but now it's time for me to tell something about myself.

My nickname is Insoholic, or Inso, and I've been part of the FeralHeart community since around May 2014.
I used to go by different names back in the day but I've always been known as either
Moontwist or Deucaliorn.

Characters:
Varhmiel, the Moonlit Sailor || Merthur, the Firefly Prince

Throughout my entire time here I've had an overall enjoyable experience and I've had the opportunity to meet some very memorable individuals with whom I've created many fond memories. Even though I had lots of lovely acquaintances in the course of time, I would consider only a very small handful of people my close friends and my "people". To my way of thinking, it's better to have one great friend than many acquaintances you can't hold a conversation with.

And in spite of everything, I truly believe that this amazing community has the potential to be a shining light and I'm fortunate to have been able to meet many of you. We are all trying to give back to a roleplaying game that has somehow affected who we are and reflecting the fact that we have been through so much together, it has always brought me joy and inspiration to see the passion that still exists and evolves every day in our community.

Beyond this pixelated dimension, I'm a 19-year-old male who currently resides in the seaside capital of Bulgaria.
I'm very much driven by knowledge, perhaps even ambitious, as I always want to learn something new.
My native language is Bulgarian and I like to think that I'm near-fluent in speaking English.
I can also understand and speak a bit of Turkish and Russian.

If I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. I'll do my best to respond!
Thank you for visiting my thread, and who knows maybe we'll see each other in-game. c:

Game Discussion / What languages have you seen being used in-game?
« on: June 02, 2017, 08:31:05 pm »
The topic says it all - what languages have you seen being spoken by players in the public maps?
I have seen players speaking Polish and Russian in "The Grounds", players speaking Spanish, Hungarian
and Polish in "Cape of Distant Worlds", and players speaking German in "Ficho Tunnels".

Localization for FeralHeart

How many of you think it would be a good idea if the game was translated into other languages? It is possible to change the button text of the most buttons, so I don't see why not? When a user is downloading the game, there could be language download options or something of the sort. It would support the including of players from many different countries and it would really benefit the game. It would probably take long for the language update to happen, but only because it's hard it doesn't mean it's impossible.

The game should be translated into:
  • German
  • Spanish
  • Russian
  • Polish
  • French

And let's not forget that we have active moderators who can speak Swedish and Spanish too. I know there are floofs out there who would love to help translate the game into many languages. Sure, it will take time but at the end it would be worth it. Tell me what you think below. Thanks for reading!

Forum Suggestions & Ideas / Separate Staff Ranks

Separate Staff Ranks

As some of you may know, we used to have a staff rank called "Forum Moderator" (in the past). I wasn't part of the FeralHeart community back then, but according to past "News" threads it really was a thing. I don't know what happened but as you know, there's no two separated ranks "Forum Moderator" and "Game Moderator". A forum moderator is a game moderator, and a game moderator is a forum moderator. But why? I'm 100% sure that if the separated "Forum Moderator" rank is brought back, there will be less issues and problems with members complaining about the staff team being small and inactive. Moderators are people just like you and me that need sleep, food, and nuzzles. I get it. But this way both the forum and the game will be more often moderated.

- Suggestion 1. -

Moderators will no longer have any powers in-game and will be only Forum Moderators.
The "Global Moderator" rank will be granted to Forum Mods, trusted enough to become Game Mods.

Example:

Who are the Staff?

Administrators -
Razmirz (Game Admin / Server Master)
Lord Suragaha (Forum Administrator)

Global Moderators -
Warriorstrike

Forum Moderators -
PrettyReckless
Kikiorylandia
Kynvuu
Morgra

Moderators in Training -
No one for now :)

- Suggestion 2. -

Moderators have no longer powers on the forum and they become Game Moderators.
A new rank called "Sentinel" is added. They are the Forum Moderators.
When a Sentinel becomes a Moderator, they will be a Modsent/Global Moderator and will have powers both in the game and forum.

Example:

Who are the Staff?

Administrators -
Razmirz (Game Admin / Server Master)
Lord Suragaha (Forum Administrator)

Global Moderators -
Warriorstrike

Moderators -
PrettyReckless
Kikiorylandia

Sentinels -
Kynvuu
Morgra

Moderators in Training -
Redlinelies (Game)
WhiteLightHeart (Forum)

As for the Moderators in Training, they will be trained to moderate the game.
And in addition, there will be a new training rank for the forum called "Sentinel Aide".
Or it will be explained for what are they going to be trained, as shown above.

That's pretty much everything. Share your opinion below. Thanks for reading!

Game Discussion / What would you like to see added in the game?
« on: February 13, 2017, 11:45:14 pm »
What do you want to see in the next patch of FeralHeart?

30
1. Ban Appeals
As you know, players often make threads about their bans and sanctions in the help boards. Even with the rules added in-game, there will be always users who will post threads asking why they were banned. My suggestion is to make a sticky with information on how to appeal bans. The sticky thread must contain information on how to contact a moderator and generally it should tell players to gather as much details as they can about the event, and also important things to include in their messages (nickname, date, reason and explanation from their point of view on what happened and why they feel that their punishment is unfair). Also, a note saying if they are still unsatisfied with the result, they can further appeal it to the Admins. I believe this will reduce to some point the threads about bans in the help boards. If it doesn't help, it doesn't hurt either.

2. Sanctions/Warnings section
My second suggestion is whenever an account is banned in-game and this account logs in the forums, a little message saying "Your account has been banned. Click here for more information." should appear. The link will lead them to a section in their forum profile with sanctions and warnings. The section will contain information about the type of the sanction, the reason, the duration and when does it end. The only problem I can see for the staff is the amount of time they will have to waste sending sanctions and typing the reasons, the duration and the end date of the ban. Though, even with the many rulebreakers we have it shouldn't take much time, so it's worth a shot. I know Raz is quite busy and he's currently working on the site, but it would be amazing to implement such addon in the forum.

3. "Report to moderator" function
As many of you may know, there is a little function (which every user can use) called "Report to moderator". It can be seen in every single post made in threads. I have a few questions to the staff regarding this feature, so here they are:
  • Should we use this function to alert moderators for "solved" threads (or for threads they have missed to lock) in the Help Boards?
  • Should we use this function to alert moderators for a user who is double-posting?
  • By "wrongly posted message", do you mean posts accidentally posted in threads?

To move to my next question, see this image first:

So, what will happen if a user edits the "[Edited by moderator]"? And why don't you instead moderate such posts by removing the content, make the post uneditable (if possible) and type [Moderated by mod, reason: Cussing]?
Also, do you remove double-posts (the second post)? If not, it would be great to moderate them with red text.

Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it!
