2 species. 1 winner.
If the FeralHeartians were to be locked in mortal kombat, which species would win?
The wisest answer would be depending on what's fighting what. For example, a lion would easily win against a wolf because of it's immense power and size.
I'm with the felines: they have EXTREMELY POWERFUL hind legs (used to rip open prey's belly)
But, which species would win: the felidae or the canidae?
-
I think the felidae if it was Lion vrs Wolf.
But i don't think it would happen in RL.
-
CANINES FOR SURE!!! :D
-
canines come on! lol so what felines can rip through bellies wolves can crunch through bones! Lol
-
Definitly felines, Also, Not to be rude but... ^ Wolfaboo.
Anyways, The felines have large powerful claws, Teeth suited for ripping flesh, And their tongues are Made for ripping meat off after the prey is dead. And if we're talking about Lions, A pride? A wolf pack wont stand a chance against a pride. Felines, In groups, Gang up and target one, Taking them down one by one, With the execption of a couple Run-Aways.
-
I think wolves are awesome, I dunno why...
-
Since most of my characters are felines and most of them fit better as felines, I think that felines will win
-
if it's a large pack then wolves XD sorry but i've been seeing and reading many unrealistic wolf things and i really think wolves would win. go ahead and call me a wolfaboo i dun care :P
-
Sorry, Canines fans but I'd have to say Felines. Well thats because theirs Lion, Cheetahs, Panthers, and etc. While Canines are just Dogs & Wolfs. :I Soo if their was a fight with a Lion and a Wolf I'm pretty sure the Lion would win. xD
-
Depending which feline your talking about really. A pet cat has no chance but a lion, tiger or any other large predator has a chance in winning.
If one lion had a fight against one wolf its most likely going to be the feline that wins. They are much larger than a wolf meaning way larger fangs and claws. Wolves claws are different to felines, a felines claws are made to tear into their preys skin not dig into the ground. It would take one lion to take down one wolf, and wolves aret as powerful it would take like 5 to take down a lion.
Felines would win most definatly.
-
I say canines, remember not all felines are large lions tigers or cougars, oh my. I have seen more warrior cats then lions nowadays so you can't say that it depends on size any more. :P
-
A wolf wouldn't stand a chance against the strength of a lion. Why would you think a wolf would defeat a lion? :P
Anyway, felines all the way! (Even though I barely play them on FH, what a shame. ;_;)
-
Go cats go!!! *cheers*
-
Canines XD But thats proly just because i love wolfs. In Real life fight though feline would proly have the upper hand due to size and strength. I still vote Canine though ;)
-
In the real world, a wolf would just run away, better safe then sorry.
Felines have claws they actually use for battle, and large teeth. However, they have low stamina, and don't typically work in groups, unless they're lions or something.
Canines have fairly good stamina, and work in groups, so that gives them the advantage of speed, teamwork, and confusion. However, their only fighting weapons are their teeth.
Ultimately, it varies on the species, weaponry, size, and stamina. If it's a coyote or jackal against a housecat, the canine would win. If it were a wolf against a tiger, the feline would win. Both species are cowards when you think about it, though.
But given he amount of godmodders on FH these days, neither would win! Unless it's a literate, realistic, RP with smart, educated people in it, of course.
-
wolves, i think that if there were a pack of 30 or so wolves aginst a pride of 10 or so lions, the wolves would win. and its not just one breed of wolf, it could be any breed of wolf or dog.
-
actually nevermind, i agree with XxRavenpawxX, she makes a good point so lets just agree with her!
-
I think it depends entirely on the situation given, for both to be cowards as Raven said.
If it's a male lion and he has a pride, I'm pretty sure he'd protect his pride. But yeah.
There's absolutely no way a wolf could win over a lion.
Dog against cat? There are very equal chances. I've seen cats take down dogs, and dogs take down cats.
-
Dog against cat? There are very equal chances. I've seen cats take down dogs, and dogs take down cats.
Exactly!
Again, definitely depends on what canines and felines we're talking about here. Domesticated would go either way. Heck, when I brought home my cat, she immediately put our dog into submission. In the wild, the same thing. But overall, felines would have the upper hand, regardless.
---
Whenever there's a debate on Felines Vs Canines Vs Hyaenidae VS Dragon VS etc., people always say their favorite animal. Not a good excuse, aye? I asked someone once on a Tiger VS Wolf fight, they said "I vote for teh woof!" I asked why, and they said "cuz the wolf is my favorite animal." Not that I'm bashing anyone or anything, just saying that voting for your favorite animal in a fight doesn't always cut it. Take gladiator fights for example, you never know which warrior will win. But with animals, it's very different.
-
I absolutely hate it when people do that Raven, when people try to say one would be able to defeat the other based solely upon what they like. Canines and felines arent a football team, you're being asked to be honest about which you think would win. I adore canines, slightly more so than feline but who do I think would win? In terms of wild animals, felines most definately. Why?
For starters, both have powerful jaws. But in terms of claws? With the exception of a small sliver of the cat family, all felines have retractable claws. What does that mean? Their claws remain sharp. Canines? ...Not so much. In addition to that, wolves are not built to smack with their forepaws, their claws are just meant for gripping.
In addition to that, this entire talk of lion prides versus wolf packs. Um... what? Take into consideration that canines are NORMALLY social while felines are solitary. Lions are the ONLY felines to live together in large groups of both genders. I believe that a feline's ability to survive WITHOUT the support of a group and prosper exceed's what the wolf pack can do. Consider a mother tiger who gives birth to three cubs versus a wolf mother who gives birth to three cubs. The wolf mother relies on her mate to deliver food to her, and if its availible, support from the rest of the pack (though in the wolf's defense, it isnt always availible) The mother tiger must rely on no one other than herself to get those three cubs to adulthood. And for NEITHER mother, is there ANY guarentee that any of their cubs will make it. In addtion to that, if a lower level wolf were to say, produce offspring, those offspring will impede on the needs of the first mother's offspring. For the tigress, given that she is solitary, that will never happen.
But, before we get too far along, consider this. Many of you are comparing wolves to lions and the sort, just as I compared wolves to tigers. But, had anyone considered something such as.... a fox versus a bobcat? Or a jackal versus a pallas cat? I think things would become rather shakey in those terms, but you have to look at individual species to really speak for those battles.
As for domestic pets, Im thinking of this less as the petty little fights we see between our house pets and animals acctually trying to kill each other. I have to say canines win here. Most domestic housecats arent that big, and when a dog has an intent to kill, I doubt a little hiss and smack to the nose will ward it off, at least, more often than not it wont. Because how often do you hear "Oh someones cat killed my dog" You dont, right? But you most certaintly hear "Oh my neighboors dog killed my cat or killed a cat." Most domestic canines are larger, but even disregarding that, I think even some of the smaller canines, again, if the opposing side had the intent to kill, would win.
-
Theres not just wolves and dogs there are jackals coyotes bush dogs african painted/wild dogs. You need to learn you dog 0_0
-
Oh yh just to remind all of you Lion winning things on this show i watched a Hyena defeated a Cheetah and a lion (Not working forces like hyenas vs cheetah and lion..) easily so just to remind you a lion would run away cause that is what i watched on Deadly 60 witch is a true thing documentry kid real life thing :P
-
It depends on the canine, it depends on the feline, and it depends on how many are on which side. A lone cougar would kill a lone wolf because felines are generally stronger for their size and more agile than canines (the main reason why canines tend to hunt in packs while felines usually hunt alone), but whole wolf packs are known to drive cougars away from kills (even juvenile grizzly bears). Now, a house-cat versus a timber wolf is no contest. It doesn't matter who's more agile or stronger for their size, that's a dead house-cat. A cocker spaniel versus a Siberian tiger, again, no contest.
And wolfaboos, I'm sorry to say this, but I don't care what you saw on Wolf's Rain. A lone wolf couldn't possibly kill a fully grown, healthy 'big cat' (leopard, tiger, smilodon, etc), not even if it was the biggest of its species or cranked up on every doggy steroid in existence. Wolf's Rain is a fantasy anime, not a documentary.
-
Wolves have a weaker bite force then a Lion or any other big cat for that matter, and those who say Hyena for the canines they are actually more closely related to a Feline if you truly watched the documentaries you would know that, Now if you were to put a Lion or Tiger and once again any other big cat in a one on one match against a wolf the felines would win, they are more muscular and built for the fight were a wolf is more for endurance a long distance runner and they do not have much strength behind that as they do not need it when working in a pack. Long story short Lion Vs Wolf stats are against the wolf in all ways. Feline wins. Just my perspective on things.
-
well 300 canines vs 5 felines the felines wouldn't stand a change if those were some rabid wolfs :D
-
If it was an battle between an lion and an wolf, the lion would certainly win. If it was an battle with an lion pride and wolf pack, then again the canidaes will win. :3
-
If it was an battle between an lion and an wolf, the lion would certainly win. If it was an battle with an lion pride and wolf pack, then again the canidaes will win. :3
It all depends on the size of the pride and pack, if it were a pack of 12 wolves and 6 lions the wolves may out number but still not over power the lions. wolves are actually hunted by pumas on rare occasion yet Wolves stear clear of pumas imagine a full grown male african lion?
I love convo's like these XD
-
Oh yh I forgot the Hyenas arnt closer related to CAT OR DOG there closer related to there thing the species that the Hyaenidae and also there is another in that family the Aardwolf http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=hyena+and+Aardwolf&hl=en&biw=1366&bih=632&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=VbnQta0W37z2pM:&imgrefurl=http://saphotographs.blogspot.com/2010/08/hyenahyaena-and-friends.html&docid=mIE86uggjgXDTM&imgurl=http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_QxabWiAlfYg/THUZ1LZ2bZI/AAAAAAAAWwU/DYmI2CIh20A/s1600/zIMG_15211.JPG&w=622&h=469&ei=Jt7NT9OUOcaQ8gOP3ei9DA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=332&vpy=324&dur=2991&hovh=195&hovw=259&tx=112&ty=186&sig=107185515975823887071&page=1&tbnh=138&tbnw=192&start=0&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:13,s:0,i:99 (http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=hyena+and+Aardwolf&hl=en&biw=1366&bih=632&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=VbnQta0W37z2pM:&imgrefurl=http://saphotographs.blogspot.com/2010/08/hyenahyaena-and-friends.html&docid=mIE86uggjgXDTM&imgurl=http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_QxabWiAlfYg/THUZ1LZ2bZI/AAAAAAAAWwU/DYmI2CIh20A/s1600/zIMG_15211.JPG&w=622&h=469&ei=Jt7NT9OUOcaQ8gOP3ei9DA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=332&vpy=324&dur=2991&hovh=195&hovw=259&tx=112&ty=186&sig=107185515975823887071&page=1&tbnh=138&tbnw=192&start=0&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:13,s:0,i:99) (Aaradwolf)
-
The felidae family would win. They are larger than wolves in most cases.
-
Wolves all the way.
Wolves are swift and their teeth can crunch through bones! And their cuter <3
Wolfies rock!
8D
-
Yah! Eevee i agree
-
I remember there was a wolves vs lions war awhile back... xD It was a fail but I suppose most of the ingame community was in on it.
-
Well, I say they both lose. Because, they're equally strong. But if I had to pick... Canine. Have you seen Big Cat Diary? I've seen it, and well the MALE lions try to kill the hyenas, but the hyenas always won. So canine.
-
WOLVES ALL THE WAY! XD Becaus if the lion killes the wolf and it happend to be part of a pack the pack would come and fight for there dead pack member ^w^
-
I say both, cuz in different ways they are stronger then each other xD
-
I'm going to approach this logically. Does it mean one feline vs. one canine or all the canines vs. all the felines on FeralHeart?
If it's a 'single,' then the feline would definitely win. They're larger and more powerful.
If it's a free-for-all, I think the canines would win. They have the advantage of numbers in FeralHeart, I believe. This is just a guess so don't jump down my throat if I'm wrong.
A pack of wolves can take down a Grizzly Bear, which is probably more powerful than a lion or tiger, both in bulk and muscle. Just not in agility. So, if the ratios are correct, then the canines could take down the felines in a free-for-all.
-
Haha I love this thread :D but I gotta say..... felines would win. The canine model is so graceful and slender while the feline looks so bulky and strong! I love both species though ^_^ I just think felines would have more strength over canines.
-
<Removed Post!>
I'm clearing out this account to re-inhabit.

-
Felines, definitely.
They're far larger, and far stronger.
Even the largest of the canines, wolves, wouldn't stand a chance against any of the big cats.
-
Well, as everyone said, felines are stronger, but yet no one has mentioned this really so I guess I will. Males are usually that laziest thing on the earth, sleeping 20 hours a day. And only waking for food or mating and defending territory from other males.
Canines are not actually used for fighting with their claws. Sorry woofaboos, but the lions so far have this down if its one on one. Mainly due to not just the muscle, but a lion's skin is much thicker with its fur also due to 1: the mane/tufts of fur and 2: African lions are use to having giant ticks, spikes from plants and fighting against other males to have such thick fur for protection. Canines, are known for traveling and having a good amount of stamina. Their fangs are used mainly for herding until prey is cornered or injured enough to have the whole pack finish off the one animal they separated from the group.
So....Lions would win not just one on one, but also in a pride vs a pack in equal numbers. Even the females fight when something is threatening the territory. So Felines
-
WOLVES ALL THE WAY! XD Becaus if the lion killes the wolf and it happend to be part of a pack the pack would come and fight for there dead pack member ^w^
Yes though it actually depends on what type of member. If it was an Omega they could merely care less since the Omega is like an outcast. I have to say both depending on what type of feline and canine.
-
The term 'omega' is an archaic, outdated term that is no longer used in modern scientific discussions of wolf pack hierarchy. There are no 'omegas' in true wild wolf packs, which consist of the breeding pair, the siblings of the breeding pair, and the breeding pair's pups. 'Alphas' and 'omegas' only exist in captive zoo packs, in which unrelated wolves are forced together and make an 'alpha/omega' hierarchy just to keep themselves from killing each other.
And Milkfur, remember that lions live in prides. Lions (and big cats in general) have superior stength and agility, as well as a higher bite force and retractable claws. A pack of wolves may be able to drive away a lone cougar simply because they strength in numbers, but an entire lion pride versus even a large pack of wolves is very likely to emerge victorious because they have better weapons as well as strength in numbers. It's like a group of people with swords versus another group of people with machine guns.
Felines are typically lone hunters who are built to ambush and quickly overpower prey, which is why they need those superior weapons just to survive from day to day. Canines are typically pack hunters who are built to run over long distances and slowly wear down their prey, so they don't need to have retractable claws and super-strength. This doesn't mean wolves are not strong. It just means they're not as strong as felines.
-
for shure felines i mean come on
-
I think it depends on the species of canine and feline. A wolf would kill a house cat, but a lion would kill a wolf. Although on FH I usually see much more canines than felines, so they do have that advantage. There's also those godmodders who think they can just run up and rip anyone's throat out.... Or crush all the bones in their body in a single blow... Or eat their souls... But honestly I'm really not sure who would win.
-
I have to say, all facts point to the species of felines. I love both creatures, but cat's out number canids. Cat's have large, strong canines, even if there where wolves, they could only bring down a few cats and wound some of the rest. and if youcount in dogs and hyenas, they would still hardly make a dent in the many species of cats that have enough differenceinstreangth and agility, only about a fith could be brought down in a fight between species.
in short, Felines would win.
-
I love wolves, but wolf model in Feralheart looks strange and felines look more realistic so I think that felines win.
-
Look on the odds in FH. Theres more Canines then Felines. And see more "House cat" Felines then pure outloud lions. Canines out number the Felines. but the Strangth of Canines and Felines depends on the Speices. Wolf, dog, Couger, house cat, lion etc. I say a Tie between both.
My pont.
-
If its big cat (tigers-lions) versus big dog, (wolves/hyena?) felines for sure. I love wolves, but they aren't the strongest things out there.
-
FF! Don't know what it means? Tough then, you probably don't play Felines.
-
I vote feline for the simple fact that they are larger and more powerful, and as said by many is that it would have to depend on the species.
So I think felines would win.
-
Ok if we put a wolf to fight a lion 100% the lion would win because its way to bigger than a wolf.A pack vs. one lion, clearly the wolf pack would win.But a pride vs.a pack hmmm.....Anyway im a wolf fan but i like lions too.I cant decide which side should i pick.
-
Hard decision... :P I'd say... Since it's Mortal Kombat(Total luff! ?) I'd say Canines... Haha, I gotcha thar! I was going to say Feline. ;)
-
Everybody is choosing over size! a a box jellyfish can kill us! a tiny jellyfish! So get real and face it! Wolves 30percent could beat a lion but the lion is most likely to win.
-
soz for double posting but in the olden times when wolves lived in packs of 40 i think they would beat a pride of 20? 25?
-
Yes, but Puppy, that's two wolves on one lion. Meaning, that they would win. But now, lion prides are like... 14 lions per pride. and wolves have like... 15 wolves per pack. So, if you think about it. The wolves would win, if in a pack.
But, a wolf alone, with a rogue lion, it would hardly put a dent into the lion. Whereas a pack against a rouge lion, wolves would win.
Wolves rely on stamina and fear tactics. Whereas lions go by strength and weight. So, I would have to say (After my old disicion. ._.) the felines would win. Because, there are more felines than wolves in the worl. (Stupid farmers.)
-
Debatable.
If it was one lion vs one wolf, the lion would win.
One lion vs a wolf pack, the wolf pack would probaly overtake the lion, depending on how many wolves were in the pack.
If you pit a cat vs a dog however, the dog would win.
And if you did a pride of lions against a lone wolf...
ohhhh that poor wolf. e.e
If a pride of lions took on a pack of wolves... probaly the lions, since they usually have large prides and they are large felines.
A smaller one like a Leapard, canine would win. They used to breed dogs to hunt down Leapards (not anymore).
So it really depends on which species and the size/number.
-
Felines for sure!
-
As ive always said. Canine canine canine!!
Although if it came down to real deal. A Feline would wipe out a canine XD if it were lion to wolf
but if its cat to dog...well then canine to me
-
Canine. CANINES ROCK!
-
Canine, and to settle down the real vote, why don't we have a poll?
-
Dog or cat? Dog for sure. House-cats can't compete.
-
What if it was a teacup chihuahua vs. a full grown house cat. I know my chi wouldn't last long.
-
@Jadewing
I believe they meant wild canines and felines ;D
It is called 'FeralHeart,' after all.
But, if it were house cats and dogs, it really would depend on what kind of dog and cat it were. My dog and my burmese? (My Dog is a small terrier). My dog would win. My dog and my bombay mix? Probably a draw. Either one of my cats against a pitbull? Kittehs wouldn't stand a chance.
Even in the wild, it depends on the type. Bobcat vs. Wolf? Wolf would win. Tiger vs. Fox? Tiger would win. That's that.
-
Agreed.
My dog is a pit bull mix and kitties wouldn't be too hard for him to take down. (Not that I would ever let him do that.)
If it was against a lion...
oh dear...
e.e
-
I toatally Agree on a feline They could even take down A bear atleast I think I MEAN Come on look at them fierce Mucle bodies.. sorry canine lovers.
-
I toatally Agree on a feline They could even take down A bear atleast I think I MEAN Come on look at them fierce Mucle bodies.. sorry canine lovers.
I agree with you that wild felines are typically stronger than wild canines, but a bear? That would depend on the type of bear. A tiger versus a panda bear? It would be tough going, but the tiger would probably win. A tiger versus a polar bear? Probably not.
-
You know what im just going to say dog vs cat dog wins! jackal vs Tiger poor jackal. Wolf vs lioness Draw... I love wolves more than cats but you know... And there are more Lions and lionesses in the wild than wolves because there used to be packs of 30-43 but know there are only packs to 8-12 this is what HUMANS DONE! :(
-
I agree with some of the previous posts... it really would depend on the breed/species of dog or cat... Now, any of them against a pack of Hyena's, now, then the Hyena's would win! xD lol.
-
I think felines would win, they are awesome ^^
-
I'd have to go with Kitsune or anyone else who has a answer like that, who talks about it depends on the breed an the amount, i give a shout-out to all of yall. Also, Hyenas are actually related to the mongoose. I haven't checked this thread in a while so ya lol
-
Felines, Definitly.
-
It all depends on the species fighting.
For example, domestic cat vs. domestic dog(large dog)= Dog winning because of it's size and strength of its muscles. But, if it was against a smaller dog, the cat would most likely win because of its sharper teeth and claw.
Another one would be: Big cat(lion, tiger, jaguar etc.) vs. Wolf= Big cat wins because of its strength and size over the wolf.
Domestic cat vs. Wolf= Wolf wins, obviously, because of its larger size, strength, and stamina.
Big cat vs. domestic dog(large or small)= Big cat win since its so much larger, stronger muscles, and bigger jaws meant for killing.
So, basically, it all depends on which species you are referring to. However, if I had to pick one of the two, it'd probably felines because there's more of a variety to the species and they tend to be larger/stronger than the canines. As much as I love canines, cats do have sharper claws/teeth and there's more species that are stronger and faster than canines of any kind.
-
Felines all the way!
-
SIZE/WEIGHT RATIOS :)
If a small feline, slight in weight, went up against a heavier canine, the canine would most likely win. If a small canine went against a heavier, larger feline, the feline would probably win. If the two animals were about equal in weight, it would boil down to health and overall strength. If the feline was healthier, it'd probably be the victor. If the canine, however, was older or stronger, it'd have a better chance.
The nerd in me has spoken. If this is all about preferences, canines. Specifically, dogs :)
-
It depends on the situation, if there was a pack of wolves against a single cat of course the wolves. if it is one on one, evolution supports the cat family as one can notice many of the big cats are solitary in nature.
it boils down to the need to survive I don't think any predator would even risk themselves to see who would win. I side with neither
-
The natural dog-lover in me screams "CANINES!!! /thread", but, the smart person in me says "Depends on the situation, obviously each individual encounter would have a different outcome. There are many factors to be looked at, the sub-species involved in the confrontation, the difference in size and weight, behavior, the individual's psychology, and many other things. All in all, it would be an even playing feild when considering that each side has it's pro's and con's".
After careful deliberation and deciding which stance I should take out of the two choices my mind made, I go with...... CANINES!!! /thread. xD
-
Felines would likely win. Even if there's still the rules of "How many, what type, how old, what health condition." taking part in the decision. A juvenile lion against a pack of wolves would stand a fair chance for quite a while, and will walk off with some bad wounds. Two or three wolves of the seven that were in the pack would walk away tired and damaged. And would struggle, then die off. The lion would die a fair bit later.
-
As people have stated before me, it all boils down to the species, along with the age, gender and health of the animal. For instance, if a Fennec fox was matched against a cheetah, the odds favour the cheetah, because of the difference in size along with strength. However, if a grey wolf was paired up with a cheetah, it is likely that the wolf would take the biscuit. They're both rather similar in size, but the wolf is greater in strength, and is not as fragile as the cheetah.
If you took every species of feline and put them up against all the canines, I'd say that it'd be difficult to say what the outcome would be, since there are more species of canine than feline (think about domestic dogs) and imagine all of those dogs teamed up against those felines. Bear in mind that some of these dogs were bred to hunt.
So, I'm not sure, but possibly the canines? All those domesticated ones (along with the foxes, jackals and wolves) put against domesticated cats (let's face it, they're not that impressive), smaller-to-medium-sized wild cats (such as Ocelots and Servals) and big cats (like tigers, lions, jaguars, leopards and cheetahs). Though, now I look at it, the cats seem to be pulling their way to the top now.
It's not safe to say who would win, not even if you put all the feline characters and canine characters that existed within FeralHeart against each other.
-
Like you said, it all depends on the species of canine or feline. I do know that alot of feline species, such as lions, tigers, leopards, cougars, jaguars, etc. are LARGE, and a lot larger than the biggest canine species living on earth. But of course, most of these big cats try to avoid canines, especially if it's a big pack of canines.
So my answer is..... anyone of them could win, depending on what species is fighting the other species.
-
Wolves are the only canines I like, but felines I like almost all like tigers, lions and more. I also like cats more than dogs for many reasons and I think that felines are better.
Felines rule!
-
Liking canines more than felines or vice versa doesn't make any difference to the results, so you're wasting your time posting if that's all your stating.
-
Big cats > canines
Canines > small cats
I'm not sure of the proportions of each so I couldn't say for sure.
-
It could go either way, A pack a wolves vs. 1 lioness, wolves would win, but a pack of wolves vs. a male lion, it would go either way, depending how intelligent, and strong he is. But 1 wolf vs. either gender, or a pride, he would die. But A pride vs. a Pack, It would more lean to the lion side, but it could still go either way. In my eyes, since a lion is more durable than a wolf is, a wolf has more fragile bones.
If this is what mean, if you mean popularity, I'd say more people like wolves, but I adore both.
-
WOOT!! CANINES FOR THE WIN! c8 ;)
-
Hey theres dire wolves whos skulls conldent break!
-
Plus for people who saying Canines have not got a chance of winning against a lion yes they have u liars. First they could easily bite them on the windpipe then run away no scratch on there furry little bodys!

Hmmm, this would be quite, erm, difficult to answer. But, as soon as I saw this thread, I went and looked at some random antomy of the two animals, and I'd really have to say LIONS would win against Wolves fight-wise.
Of course though, this would depend on weither or not the lion was male, what it's age was, etc.. this of course, goes for a wolf aswell. But, if this was an young adult lion or, simply an adult lion. (Either Gender) The Lion would easily win.
Lions and Lionesses not only are usually larger than MOST Wolves, b Not to mention that,ut they also are able to use claws in battle- yes, children, wolves can use claws to fight larger enemies, though, they are MUCH LESS efficient than that of a Lion's.
Lions also have larger teeth, and more than often, much bigger and more powerful muscles. Canines have much smaller teeth and, not only do they usually have less-powerful muscles, but they're body mass is also smaller.
Now, I know that there are wolves out there that are HUGE, simply IMMENSE compared to most 'normal' wolves. But, Lions would most likely win even if they were against THOSE.
I'm speaking of One-Wolf on One-Lion, just to let you know. If this was a pack of wolves against one lion, well, they might have chance, but only a chance. Alot of them in the pack would probaly be killed or wounded.
-
in rl it would depend on what type of canine and feline
in fh canines!
-
It also depends on what era the canine and feline are in. If it's prehistoric, then a pack of direwolves are most likely to only drive off a single saber-tooth. Driving off and killing are two different things.
Now, if it's the 21st centery, like now, grey wolves wouldn't stand a chance driving off a saber-tooth-let alone a lion! Or a tiger at that.
House cat:Doberman::Grey wolf: Saber-tooth
Doberman:Grey Wolf::Dingo:Coyote
Hope that makes enough sense to you peeps.
-
Hey theres dire wolves whos skulls conldent break!
Actually, dire wolf skulls CAN break. When dire wolves hunt, they hunt BIG animals, giving a greater risk of getting kicked in the head.

The largest lion:
Height: 4 feet
Weight: 550lbs
Teeth: 4 inches
Claws: 5 inches
Speed: 35 mph
Jumping: 11-14 feet high, length 36 feet
Bite force: 1,000lbs
The largest wolf:
Height: 3 and a half feet
Weight: 175 lbs
Teeth: 2 inches
Claws: 4-5 inches
Speed: 45 mph
Jumping: 6 ft high, 5-10 feet length
Bite force: 700lbs
Felines would win, even though they are slower, they're larger, heavier, their teeth are longer, they jump a higher and longer distance, and their bitre force is alot stronger.
(( This is none of my imformation, I got this from some one eles I don't know who but this isn't mine. ))

yes but you are saying largest vs largest. say if it was grey wolf vs some thing like a snow leopard the wolf would win.
If it was tiger vs wolf the tiger would win. and you could add more than one of each into the fight.
-
Well, it depends. Wolves having more with numbers in size, but yet Feline having more bulk and sheer power. I would have to say if a Lion was to fight 1 on 1 with a wolf. The Lion would be winning although, Wolves have sharp teeth and fast reactions with a Lion is more heavily built in many ways with a jaw and skull weighing close to 80kg together that Lion, would be a dangerous competitor to battle with. I would say it would be a draw if the Lion was smaller but the amount of power a Lion puts, into its bite would bring the Wolf down for a little before the Lion uses his powerful claws. Its hard to say with the amount of power both animals cause with energy in fighting, its hard to say until it happens. But i would say..With a Lion using power and bulk, then to a Wolf using speed and aggression a Feline would take the bait.

Hmm...there are and can be many different answers to this question. If you mean the most generic canines/felines on FH (wolf and lion) were fighting, then the lion would win hands down. But with the many different species and the infinite amount of situations, the answers would be dfferent every time. If you put one or two wolves up against a big cat, say a lion or tiger, the cat would probably win. Put a wolf up against an ocelot and the wolf would likely be the winner. Fox against an ocelot and the ocelot might win, though this seems more like a fair fight. Take a pack of wolves and set them up against a lion, the wolves would likely win because of their numbers, but have a pride vs pack war then I figure the pride would win.
Big cats like lions and tigers are bulkier than most canids. Their teeth and claws are a lot bigger, and basically just their size in general. They're built for hunting alone, though lions would be an acception. Canids like wolves and maybe African Wild Dogs are smaller and more social than tigers and leopards. Their pack is their greatest strength. A wolf could easily take down prey in a group, but might struggle on their own.
So yeah. Depends on the situation.
-
You know what ONE MORE POST FROM ME! It really depends on the wolves style of killing. If it just went in straight for the kill a bit to the neck !Bam! Wolf wins! So Lions maybe ' Bigger, Bulkier' Wolves are 'Smarter!' and that makes a huge difference
-
Definitly felines, Also, Not to be rude but...
I got to agree with Crystal(lol_lion) all the things she said was true Felines with strong powerful jaw, and cannies well not much as much as I like Cannies the Felines would win this battle
-
well thats if we are talking about wild cats ^^ if it was a house cat against a dog the dog would win (I am still going with lions though because even so a dog just bark at the cat and chase it. it won't do much, some house or stary cats will fight back)

well the way you put it Larka your right it mostly depends on the situation of what they up against (ex: a wolf vs lion, Tiger vs hynena, house cat vs stray dog, and so on)
-
Felines. Wolves are more of hunting animals, and possess the hunting skills for these sort of things. Male lions fight in real life, and all prides chase off animals wanting to eat the cubs. Lions just have the edge C;
-
Forests sometimes wolves eat there pups xD

One bite to the neck would not stop a lion. In fact i'm sure if a wolf took a latch to the neck a lion could simply run it's claws down the wolf's throat, cutting through the flesh.
-
It could, because it could bite into its windpipe braking it, and yes maybe it could but maybe the wolf would die with it because ya know xD
-
A wolf wouldn't even be able to get it's jaws around a lions neck anyway because it's too large. Breaking a lions windpipe doesn't take one bite. It would be a struggle to get through the layers of muscle and skin with the lion thrashing back at the same time.
-
That maybe but, like it would take a couple of hits from a lion then it would have to loose blood so maybe its possible for a Wolf to beat a Lion...

A wolf can take a few hits from a lion, but a lion can take nearly infinite hits from a wolf. Lions are simply bigger, stronger, and more agile than wolves.
-
Bigger doesn't matter! Unless its like 10 foot higher than ya....
-
Bigger does matter though! The bigger you are the more hits you can take, the more strength you have to use on your opponent. It really does matter.
-
In real life a feline( lion, tiger or big cat) would win BUT in Feralheart, I say WOLVES!!!!1
-
Well, I am small but I can take millions of hits from my friend, xD we always play fight xD
-
I think felines would win, even though I like canines :/ sorry
-
Then again you and your friends are both human. I'm sure your larger friends don't have feline claws or large fangs. :)
-
Felines will win, no mater what. For example, Lions have big paws and long large claws. A lion could smack a wolf on the side of it's head and the wolf could suffer from brain concussion.
Also the lions head is bigger, and the canines are larger and have a deeper root for holding on to prey. The lion is also heavier and taller, bigger the badder.
Sorry, wolf founders. A lion will win in most cases. There has been, actually, some reports of wolf PACKS killing mountain lions or bears. I don't know about tigers though.
-

Exactly that. A pack could take down a lion but a single wolf could not C:
-
Well thats true, but lions and wolves teeth and claws are almost (almost!) the same size.
-
Well thats true, but lions and wolves teeth and claws are almost (almost!) the same size.
Not really. Wolf claws aren't terribly sharp and they're not used as weapons. They are used for traction while they're running, like how soccer players have spikes at the bottom of their shoes. Lion claws are longer and sharper and used for slicing through flesh, like knives.

If you take into consideration how big a wolf's head is compared to a lion's head, as well as comparing the size of the human's fingers to both animals' teeth, I think it's pretty safe to say a lion's got bigger teeth.
-
Pfft. I've always loved canines. They have always been my favourite animal species. They can rip through flesh and crunch their way through bones; especially the hyena. As I love you my fellow canine companions, the majority of felines on this game is sure to take a leap in power. Felines can grow bigger, with ultra sharp claws and a powerful yet slightly dull set of teeth to grab onto the throats of their prey and bring them down. Although a canines jaw and canines (teeth) are much more dangerous than the feline species; felines... GO!
(going for the felines)
-
^Hyenas aren't canines. They're their own seperate family, but they're more related to felines and civets than canines. Still awesome animals, though. :)
-
Canines of course! 90% of FH is full of Canines. The only Felines I see are warrior cat rps, lion rps and other big cat rps. Wolves are everywhere. No doubt that Canines will win. ::)
-
I think this debate is doomed to be endless.
Personally I think both felines and canines are awesome.
@Pumpkin: I see lots of cats around FH, besides the canine model is used for more then just the canine, it's used for horses, humans, demons, some dragons, werewolfs, and more. it's just the body structure.
I mean it's the same with the cat model except the cat model isn't used for other perposes as much as the dog model is.
I've changed my mind:

Dogs FTW
-
Hard to say.True,Felines have more power But Canines Are faster then most Felines probaly...I think i still choose the Canines.
-
I'm not sure what speed has to do with it unless the canine will be running away. Lions chase away hyenas a lot and often catch and kill them.
-
Then again, if you're being technical, hyenas are actually more closely related to felines than canines.
-
Alright lets count Hyenas out of this, because Hyenas are a totally different Species!
