Make sure that your height map is all of the following:
In Grayscale Mode
513pixels x 513pixels
One layer, flattened
Alpha Channel off
Saved in a png format
Named as “MapnamehereTerrain”

Perhaps check if you have double particles:
Go to FeralHeart > media > particles and search for any .particle file ending with _0, _1, _2, _3, etc. Delete them if you find any.
Hey there! Do you happen to have any transparent parts to the map? Even one little speck of transparency can lead to a failure for the map.
Hmm this is interesting. It is 513x513 and not resized to that? Also, I know that GIMP does have a special setting specifically for grayscale - do you use that setting or just do it without the setting?
I'm unsure as to what could be causing this. In your terrains folder, is there a file called temp.map?
What is it exported as?
Hmm, I'm not sure what's causing the crash but you can try using & modifying (copy and paste your heightmap into it) this:Quoted from VortexAlive
http://www.mediafire.com/view/ausqlcih5y3qd3v/TestHeightmap.jpg
It's just a flat, standard heightmap for getting started... it has everything set up already.
You'll have to put it somewhere fh can find it though.
No don't delete it, I just wanted to make sure it was still there because sometimes it disappears.
I'm searching for solutions, found this one:QuoteHmm, I'm not sure what's causing the crash but you can try using & modifying (copy and paste your heightmap into it) this:Quoted from VortexAlive

So you've copied and pasted the heightmap you made onto that? Has it stopped crashing the game?

But did you place your height map over the top of Vortex's in Gimp? And then save it and delete your old one?
Have you by any chance tried to make a new map (simple) to test? Or have you tried a different painting software?
There is probably something wrong with the first map that is just too small to see. The software and coding that is used when it comes to exporting the heightmaps into FeralHeart are VERY touchy and picky, so something that may seem small or unnoticeable could be impacting the software on a bigger scale.
What did you do differently, besides the look, on the new map?
I have 2 questions then.
1) How do you paint the map?
2) Do you have any white areas?
Alright. I did hear somewhere that sometimes white areas can crash the game. But as for the painting, do you use the paint bucket to fill in the base?
So the paint bucket does not actually 100% fill the canvas when used sometimes. There is a good chance that this may have happened with the previous map. It does not happen all the time, but it is common sometimes. If the outside is one specific color, I would try taking that and going over the edges again.

No problem! Glad I could help!
How did you update it?
And you went over the edges again?
Do you have the old one still saved by any chance? Also, would you be willing to post the .png here so we could get a look?
