Game Help / Object Textures Loading Flat Grey
« on: February 20, 2014, 09:25:26 pm »
I'm trying to load some textures onto a custom object in object maker. I tried RockMat1, and insteaded of loading the rock texture in the folder, it loaded a flat grey colour. It's very difficult to see to test my object, which I'm trying to run around on in order to catch holes or glitches in the mesh, without running straight into a wall without realizing it. I've tried a few others, including a custom one for another custom object, which shows up fine in the folder image file, but when I loaded it on the object it showed up flat brown.

Help?

Hello out there FH rpers! Do you need a home? Searching for a lovely mountain to call your own? Have a specific landscape feature found in your rps that you'd love to have in-game? Or would you just like to have something unique to call your own?

"But wait!" you might say. "This is a pretty sorry looking mountain. It looks like a shapeless mass!"
And it is! But that's because the detail hasn't been added yet 8) That, my friends, is up to you.

I am offering a FREE (no points, trades, or anything like that required) mountain base for customization by ONE of you snazzy rp groups to claim and have me customize for you for FH! You just need to supply me with at least one of the following:

One or more rough to detailed reference sketches of your home mountain
Visit one of my livestreams with two or more of your fellow rpers to guide me through sculpting it live in Sculptris(we can schedule this privately to make sure we can all be there if you'd prefer)
One or more photographic references (I don't care where you get it, as long as it's clear/high res enough for me to see it) showing me what you'd ideally like your mountain to look like

And if you have any specific features you'd like to be present, such as number and complexity of dens, cliffs, smaller formations, caves, etc, I will need a list of those, either in image reference form or word form (please consider that if you choose to write your list out I will interpret your descriptions at my discretion, so it may turn out different than how you saw it in your mind.)

Please COMMENT here instead of private messaging to claim your slot!

The current slot is for a MOUNTAIN ONLY. If you would like another landscape formation, I will be offering others later!

I am currently advertising this on DA and Weasyl as well. If someone takes the slot on either of those first, I will be sure to update this thread as such 8)

Request/Find Meshes / Mesh testing partnership?

Hey out there. I've been out of the game on FH for a while now, but recently after making some advances and learning new things about meshing and whatnot, I'd like to get back into creating custom maps and mesh objects for it.
My problem is I'm having a lot of difficulty tracking down the proper programs for actually getting my meshes into the game, and discerning whether or not this stuff can even run on my computer. So I'm wondering - is there anyone out there who'd be interested in helping me export and test my meshes? I just need to work out what areas of the meshes work and what don't, and beyond that I can build the maps, texture the meshes, and do most of the work myself. I'm just having a lot of trouble working out how to get the files converted to .mesh format properly, and unfortunately because of school I don't have much time to spend on working it out. I've tried using sketchup and blender and all sorts of other programs to get it converted to proper Ogre .mesh, but it's just not working for me and I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

BUT I still really want to do this! So, my question is:

Is there anyone out there willing to help me convert and test these? I'll supply any helpers I get with as many custom maps and objects as I have time to make for them ^^ So far I have a small experimental den object I'm working on just to test the surface collision:

It's unfinished because I want to make sure first that the actual surface is working properly before I texture it and whatnot.

I can also do some simple buildings and I'm hoping to add stuff like trees and mountains and other things. So is there anybody out there willing to help me out?
