Videos / A Hyena in Skyrim

My hyena character, Sarymor, has apparently ended up in Skyrim! ...and he doesn't look too happy about it:

Information:
This is just my first "real" test using Adobe After Effects. I'll admit I'm relatively new to the program, but I'm happy with how this turned out!

Finished Maps / The Vale
« on: August 05, 2012, 05:06:25 am »
"...and his tears were that of a stillborn world, which made it out of the womb only to meet desiccation and the echoes of nothingness."

This is The Vale, the remnants of a world that never was.

Information:
This was a map I was working on a while back which was intended to be part of a large and inter-connected map pack made betwixt Harkane and I. Unfortunately, inspiration was lost and I never finished this nor the other maps like I intended to. Luckily, I still had the files lying around and it was, as far as anyone else might be concerned, fully functional; so I've decided to release it as is.

Note:
This map contains sounds and quite a few of them, so it's a large download - also, due to the sound-intensive nature of the map, it is recommended to play with music off.

Screenshots:

The download: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/27189149/TheVale.zip

Installation instructions:
1. Extract TheVale.zip using winzip, winrar, 7zip, or any program of your choosing.
2. Go into the Vale folder it gives you and find the exports and media folders.
3. Copy these folders and paste them directly into your FeralHeart directory (C:\FeralHeart)
4. Overwrite if prompted.
5. Enjoy.

Site/Forum Help / "Unsubscribe" from a topic?
« on: August 05, 2012, 03:20:23 am »
Sorry if this is a doltish question, but I was wondering if there's any possible way to "unsubscribe" from a certain topic? Just because I posted in a topic about a month ago does not mean I want to be incessantly notified of updates to the topic at least four or five times a day every single day. So is there any possible way to either delete my posts or have a moderator delete my posts or just make it so I'm not constantly informed of new posts to that topic?

Videos / Caffeine and FeralHeart

Too much caffeine - I'm truly sorry about this. :)

Forewarning: This is a video of me playing FeralHeart and "gregorian chanting" like a blathering idiot after having inhaled my second cup of coffee for the night. If you don't like bloody ridiculousness, you do not have to watch.

Game Help / Red's Map Pack - Failed to connect to map server.
« on: June 18, 2012, 12:33:04 am »
Heyo! so there's a bit of an issue I've been having, and I thought I'd report it here. About a week or so prior to this day, just after the server restarts had ceased, I was wandering around with one of my characters in Red's Map Pack and my path took me towards the map of Advance - however, upon entering the map, I was stuck on the loading screen for quite a while, after which time it told me that it had "failed to connect to the map server". I thought "Alright, this is fairly common! I'll just persist until it works."

Unfortunately, after several futile attempts, it was still failing to connect - so I went and deleted the map, which as far as I know, should have taken me to "the void" as it usually does, and from there I could teleport back to home. Much to my dismay, that didn't work. No matter how many times I tried, it gave me the same error. I attempted reinstalling the game about five times (literally), tried uninstalling and reinstalling the map pack, deleting the map again and again, yet nothing had worked. It was done; my character was gone.

By that time, I had pretty much given up - so I just went into the character creator and re-created my character. I got him all duplicated exactly the same as the original was, and for a while everything was fine. During the week between now and then, I had been occasionally plying at getting the original back, but always getting hit with the same "failed to connect to map server" message - no matter what I tried. Well recently, I was browsing the forums and I saw a screenshot which I thought to be in Red's Shrine - so I said "Methinks I'll visit the shrine and see what's happening therein!" I took the recreation of my character that I lost, as I'm rather fond of him, and I went to the Cape of Lost Worlds. To my total obfuscation! upon entering The Grounds, I got the "failed to connect to map server" error again - and after persisting several times, I was still getting the aforementioned error. With a sigh, I deleted the map and tried it several times again, only to keep getting the same exact error.

It would appear as if I've lost both characters to Red's Map Pack - which is a shame - both because I really liked those characters and because I really liked Red's Map Pack. I'm not sure if the recent server downtimes have had anything to do with it, but I hope there's some kind of solution available. Until that time, I'll just recreate the character again.

Thanks in advance for any help. :3

Game Suggestions & Ideas / In-game and real-time sky editing
« on: June 17, 2012, 04:37:52 am »
Well! one idea which has occurred to me during my time in FeralHeart would be an in-game GUI that would allow you to adjust things such as the positioning of the sun, ambient colours, cloud colours, the time of day, et cetera - much akin to what you can do in Second Life. The changes would only affect what you see and not others, and there could always be an option to re-synchronise with the default game time and settings.

In my opinion, this would be perfect for pictures - especially if you want something like a dramatic sunset shot. With FeralHeart as it is, a person has to wait around for a long while if they want a particular time of day - so why not allow them to adjust it themselves? :3

Also, here's a picture of the Second Life sky editor, so people whom don't play the game can get a vague idea of what I'm talking about:

Mayhaps something as complex as this wouldn't be able to be implemented, but it would still be nice to have a small "time of day" setting that you can adjust, and maybe choose from pre-defined settings such as "sunrise", "sunset", "noon", "night", and so on. :3

Species / Preterali (Motley Hybrids)
« on: June 01, 2012, 05:47:22 am »

Species name:
Preterali

Classification:
Hybrids

Information:
The Preterali (derived from the English word "preternatural", meaning something unusual or out of the ordinary course of nature) or Motley Hybrids, are a rare species of tenuous numbers, belonging intrinsically to no particular species, but rather a whole menagerie of different animal types along the vast spectrum of tetrapods. What defines the Preterali from other animal types are multifarious genetic traits shared with other species seemingly at random - the most notable of such being varied markings. Due to the obfuscated genetic make-up of their species, Preterali are either more inclined to aggression and obstreperous behaviour, or the antipode - to diffidence, and ofttimes cordiality when the prior is not capable of being maintained. They are believed to be a result of perpetuated inter-species breeding, as with any one member of the Preterali, it is nigh impossible to trace their primordial biological ancestors to any singular point. Aside from aggression or lack thereof, the Preterali are inclined to adopt other traits such as canine pack-behaviour displayed in members of the "base" felidae class (presuming there was cross-breeding between the two distinct classes of felidae and canidae) or the antithesis, and other vicissitudes depending on any given scenario.
