Finished Maps / Meteor forest - Public map!
« on: December 21, 2013, 01:13:06 pm »
Just recently made a new map, and decided to share with you guys! It's free for anyone to open an rp or rp group on, just don't map claim because it's still public!

It's pretty small, but has a lot of detail! (And also a hidden tardis and a scar and mufasa somewhere :P)

Species / Lupus Insipientium
« on: September 16, 2013, 03:52:22 pm »
Species name: Lupus Insipientium (Brutish Wolf)
Species group: Canidae, canines.
Size: About the size of a lion. Pups are born at the size of a wolf pup but grow quickly.
Age span:About 25 years. Reach adulthood/fertile age at 4.
Distribution:North America, Europe, Australia, Africa.
Extinct/existing today:Existing today, but on the brink of extinction due to excessive hunting.

Anatomy: Lupus Insipientium (I'll be calling them Brutish wolves here) are a large and strong species of canine. While not completely like modern wolves, they do seem to be related. Brutish wolves have a strange body structure, one where the shoulders reach higher than the hips, making it hard to run for long periods. While they have great strength, they lack in speed and stamina. Their body has been shaped this way as to push larger foes down with its strong jaws and large shoulder, breast and leg muscles. A prey is pretty much doomed once its been caught, since its jaws have a jawlock, and will not let go until the prey falls limp. They have no tail, as they do not need it because of their use of strength instead of speed. Which renders the tail, normally used for balance, useless. Probably one of the most important facts, are its sabre like teeth. They seem to have evolved like the sabre toothed cats' fangs, and are used for biting through deep located arteries.

Social behaviour: Brutish wolves have a tendency to let the one who is the strongest lead, whether it be male or female. High intelligence does not matter. Though if a leader proves to be a bad one, despite of strength, they will dispose of them, and choose a new one. They hunt and live in packs. Though some prefer to live on their own. These are, of course, called rogues. Packs consist of a minimum of 2, and a maximum of 150 (which is rare nowadays, considering their modern state). These packs consist of family members and ones who did enough to be accepted into the pack. At times packs merge to form a bigger one.

Brutish wolves fight a lot, though it's not always to actually kill or damage another. They have training fights very often. And one who beats the leader in a battle, will either be put as beta, or be the new leader if the rest of the pack chooses so.

Diet: Brutish wolves pretty much eat every meat they come across, sometimes stolen from other predators.

Hunting behaviour: Brutish wolves are very tactical. Because they can not run much, they try to get as close as possible before attacking. Usually surrounding the prey before showing themselves. They go for the neck and troat as soon as they attack. They have a hard time doing long chases, and usually end it quickly.

Variations: Brutish wolves have 4 variations distributed over the world. Here's a list of the variations.:

African:

The african variation has mostly spots. Not like a cheetas, but more like a leopards. They usually have a yellowish brown or reddish brown coat, and darker brown markings. Their eyes are mostly greenish. The area around their eyes are always black or really dark brown. They have a relatively small snout and high nose ridge.

Australian:

The Australian variation is one of the two striped ones. While usually reddish brown and darkish, they can also sometimes be seen as tan. Like the African one, they have black or dark brown spots around their eyes. Unlike the other variations, this ones has no markings on the face. But has long stripes on the body instead. They have shorter legs than the other variations, and have bigger snouts and smaller ears.

European variation:

The European variation is the smallest of the four. However, it is also the fastest. One distinguishing fact about them is that they seem to lack many markings, and are usually left with a few darker spots along the body. Their fur is generally dark, sometimes going even as dark as near black. (As shown in the last picture.) They have dark reddish or brown eyes.

North american variation:

The North American variation is the second striped variation. Though this time, the lighter part of its fur are the markings itself. It usually sports tan or light brown colours, with stripes and masks brighter than its fur. Their eyes are mostly greenish to yellowish.

You are free to use this species as you like. You can make packs for them, recruit members, make your own... BUT PLEASE CREDIT ME (sandytails) IN YOUR BIO AS THE MAKER OF THE SPECIES. DON'T CLAIM AS YOUR OWN. Also, if you're going to use this species, i'd absolutely LOVE to see them. You don't have to, but i'm just curious as to what you guys do with it ouo
