Game Discussion / Trends
« on: April 18, 2013, 02:56:52 pm »
Well the title's pretty simple, this thread is about trends! (Well done Flob have a gold star).

Like in any other community, like schools for example, FeralHeart has phases when certain trends are 'the thing' to have or to be doing. These are mostly character and roleplay trends, where lots of people make a specific type of character or species of character and join one of the two dozen roleplays that are all very similar about that specific type of character.

Here's an example: remember when police dog characters were suddenly 'the in thing' and nearly every floof on Bonfire Island made a brown canine character with German shephard markings to resemble, yes you've guessed it, a GSD? These are the kind of trends I'm talking about.
Other examples I know of are fightwolves/dogs, panthers, "Wanted"s (o.0?), white tigers and foxes. No doubt there are probably plenty more.

So, the question for today is what are your thoughts on these trends, and have you ever jumped on the bandwagon and joined in with one of them? Share some of your experiences you've had with popular trends that are or have been.

Discussion Board / Technology and I don't get along well
« on: April 17, 2013, 01:31:08 pm »
Guys, I need some help -_-'

I'll try to make the situation as easy to understand as possible, but it make not go well because frankly, I don't understand half of it myself. So...here we go...

I'm trying out this video streaming thing on Listen2MyRadio. I found myself on this page here. I watched the top video that showed me how to set everything up, and downloaded the software things in the links. Everything installed nicely and runs okay. When I get to the audio configuring part in the Flash Media Live Encoder, that's where the problem comes in.
Lookie here:

This is the program window...and no audio devices come up. If I plug my microphone in, yeah, that shows up. But I want it to use the sound that comes through my speakers because it's for my radio thing....But...no speakers in the menu.
I don't suppose anyone knows what I'm doing wrong or anything? xD I suck at computers and IT stuff.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you. :)

Stories / The Wolf Story with No Title (WIP!)
« on: April 15, 2013, 06:23:00 pm »
Because you lot make up my most favourite community ever, I've decided to tell anyone who's interested about the book/story I'm currently writing (along side with three fanfictions, two of which aren't going anywhere, but that's beside the point xD).
As the title says, this story currently doesn't have a title, but there's no rush. The story is a work in progress at the minute, but the rate of progress isn't exactly...steady. Sometimes I faceplant a metaphorical brickwall and I'm unable to continue for a while. Other times I sit here all night typing away. Weird. Anyway, consider this thread sort of like a diary of the story's progress, new ideas, scrapped ideas or just a rant at how much my wrist hurts from writing too much. I'll try not to give too much away. ;)

Synposis
Note: the following is subject to change and some bits may not appear in the final piece and new things may be added. These are the thoughts and ideas of the plot currently swimming around the authors mind.
The story begins where the main character, Spirit Silverwolf, her little sister Kicha, and pack elder Bryna are escaping an assault from a human and a pack of dogs. The rest of the family didn't make it. Bryna is wounded and collapses to the ground, unable to continue. With the dogs nearly upon them, Kicha and Spirit urge Bryna to keep moving, however she is old and her body weak compared to those of the younger wolves. The sisters have no choice but to leave her behind. After saying their final farewells, the sister press on without their elder.
When they are sure that the danger has passed, the sisters stop running, tired and confused as to what to do next. They decide to rest and think about what they should do the following day. After a well deserved rest, Spirit heads out to hunt to feed herself and her sister. While wandering the forest, she bumps into a young lone male wolf, called Kipper, as they happened to be hunting the same prey. Spirit invites the submissive male to join her and Kipper. With a bit of thinking and internal debate, Spirit comes to realise that this was what they were meant to do - find wolves, and build a new pack.
Spirit, Kicha and Kipper meet many wolves on their travels that decide to join them - Ferral, the shadowy and mysterious black male. Pearl, the high-maintainance self-conscious female wolf-dog. And Zan, the proud impulsive alpha male.
With the guidance of Bryna's riddles from the Otherworld via Spirit's dreams, Spirit comes to realise the path she walks was laid out for her long before she was born. It is her destiny and the Gods' will for her to unlock a secret power and do the unthinkable in order fulfil the prophecy of the Wolf of the Silver Fur. Should she fail, it could mean the extinction of wolves forever.
The relationships between packmates will the tested to their limit, as well as wolves' relationship with Man himself.

I hope that has sparked your curiosity. One day, I will finish this, and perhaps you'll be reading the whole story yourself ;) Encouragement, ideas and questions are always appreciated.  :)

Feral Harlem Shake

Most of us were aware of the Feral Harlem Shake that took place on Saturday 9th of March, courtesy of Sibb. Here are some shots of the fun stuffs that went on. Unforunately, I didn't get any of the actual Harlem Shake bit, I was too busy dancing, spinning and jumping xD. But I still got lots of the party floofs dancing. :)

And so it begins...

Now we dance!

"Hey, what's this bloke doing?"
"Dunno mate, just keep dancing."

This floof was really getting into it. Don't hold back, dude, let it out!

Having a great time, thank you. God, my neck still hurts >.<

Pink husky seems a little perplexed. Join the party, Pinky ;)

Shouldn't this be with Lord Suragaha's tongue beards?

"Here sniff my tail!" -_- wtf

The cat in a hat dancing in a tree

"You guys look like ants!"

The last dance. Floofs started to get tired.

And hereth does end our party. I hope you enjoyed them. Look out for the Feral Harlem Shake video when Sibb has finished it. :)

Other Games / Primitive Call - Realistic wolf game
« on: March 11, 2013, 01:18:30 pm »
Primitive Call

Primitive Call is a game with a realistic Northern nature setting where you create and play as a wolf character. The game will have various habitats of wolves, from deciduous forests to icy tundra. Wolves will also be able to hunt, and we know just how much you guys like the idea of hunting ;). There will a range of prey animals from small rabbits to larger mammals such as moose. Some animals will be harder to kill than others, so much so that you may need the help of other wolves, just like in real life. But running around the wilderness and killing prey isn't all the fun; you can roleplay too.

The game is still in development, so all we currently have to look at are screenshots and pictures of the PMC's team's progress. They are also open to suggestions on meshes, markings and forests.

Join the pack on PMC forum and check it out for yourself :P http://primitivecall.proboards.com/index.cgi

« on: March 06, 2013, 01:50:38 pm »
The other day, Flob, Buffy and Shally decided to go on an adventure to foreign lands. Well...as far as Ficho and Bonfire anyway xD This is what they got up to.

We became detectives. I forgot my hat.

The derp spies in their best disguise.

Bonfire became too much to handle. What is it that we saw? I'll leave that up to you. ;)

Flob went to see if she can get people to dance with her. We got two people xD

And the rest is history, my friends :P

Game Discussion / These Butts are Made for Swinging
« on: February 17, 2013, 03:39:48 pm »
The headbang, the headswing and the buttswing - these are the three choices of dance actions we have been given. But what are your opinions on them, the buttswing in particular? I have a sneaky feeling that this action will spark quite a fair bit of discussion.

I see people use the buttswing for a number of things. An innocent little dance being one of them. The other things being the not-so-innocent harassment, such as swinging their fluffy butts in peoples' faces or over other users. We know that this kind of harassment is against the rules and that many users have suffered the concenquences for it.

It has also been brought to my attention that some individuals think the buttswing is a "stupid" action and shouldn't have existed in the first place, and that people are being punished for using the action is "stupid". Do you share this notion?
Personally, I think they are wrong; from my view, I see the buttswing a litte bit of fun and as a dance action, just like the headswing and headbang, nothing more. Yet some users interpret the intention of this action differently, as something lewd and inappropriate and use it for misbehaving. For that, we cannot blame for game creator, nor the game's staff. The only people we can blame are the users themselves who use the buttswing for the wrong things and mostly likely did not read the rules or just don't care about them.

Any thoughts? Please, share them. :)

Game Suggestions & Ideas / A howling/roaring idea
« on: February 12, 2013, 12:47:53 pm »
Sometimes it nice to have a good howl or roar every once in a while. But don't you think it's a bit boring howling or roaring is a standing position? Wouldn't it be nice if we could howl or roar whilst sitting or laying down? Just be a bit more realistic and add some variety.
I have thought this through, and I thought the howl/roar function could be made to work while our characters are in the following positions; sit, lay and side lay. It would look very weird to howl or roar is any of the other positions, so I thought perhaps the character's howl/roar could be disabled while it is in any of the positions other than those three.

And that's the idea. :) Thoughts?
