Welcome. We are the Vennigan Coursers, a clan of cheetahs named for our first leader and founder, Vennigan. We are neither good nor evil, but shades of grey, and we welcome a variety of personalities--but one rule remains the same: We are all cheetahs, pureblooded, through-and-through. Never forget this!

Stiletto called a meeting, and organized a new way of command: His unit is compromised of him and the two captains. The others are each combat rank, lead by a Lead Striker, Point Scout and Top Courser. In other news, two proposals went down, with Kueni and Raziel now a mated couple, as well as Vincent and Aazzi. Congratulate them, everybody! Also, Hanu was made the Mini-Captain, or Cub Captain. Huzzah! Now I have to add like 4 more ranks. T.T

BATTLEGROUND MAPS

All instructions included with the .zip file.

1. Witch Heights: A sloping valley leading down from two 'bases' that include chokepoints and ridges along the edge of the valley. Also, two passageways to be used for obvious amounts of sneakiness and ambushes.

2. Proving Ground: An arena-type map, complete with lava and 'stands'. Used for trials and duels only.

MISCELLANEOUS MAPS

1. Titans' Glade: A sanctuary map. The tribe can shelter here if they are driven from their territory. It contains an ancient shrine and sweet, crisp, lively ponds, full of equally delicious fish. Of course, while it was sacred ground for a race long past, that doesn't mean anything will stop you from spilling blood into its revered waters....



GENERAL RULES:

1.) Be respectful in out-of-context. If your character is an arse by nature, they can be just that in the RP--but remember, that doesn't mean we can't all be friends in OOC.

2.) Don't be stupid. Don't powerplay, godmod, or autohit. If you don't know what these are, ask around.

3.) Swearing is allowed in both IC and OOC, but don't be obnoxious. Also, absolutely NO racial slurs on ANY occasion. I WILL remove you.

4.)IMPORTANT: SATURDAYS are the OFFICIAL roleplay days, you are required to check in at least every Saturday. Recommended times are 5PM-9PM, Eastern Standard Time, so put that into your own zone and let me know if it's agreeable. Saturdays are also activity checks, if you miss three, you will receive a PM warning. After 24 hours, your character will be removed and a notice posted at the bottom of this post listing removed members. Removals may re-apply within one week, but after that, I will erase that history and you will be forgotten from in-context.

5.) Follow these rules, and most importantly, have fun.


VENNIGAN'S RULES (in his exact words XD):

1.) Obey the leader. They are there for a reason, and they got there for a reason. Chances are they know better than a few of you.

2.) If you've friends in other places, that's fine. If you've got [censored] in other places, that's NOT fine. Mate within the group, folks!

3.) We're a neutral establishment. We'll take in any cheetah with any set of ideals or motives. However, if you're a sociopath or anything like that, all I ask is that you keep your morals in check as much as these rules require you to.

4.) As such, please avoid murdering or maiming your fellow Coursers. If you've got a bone to pick with somebody, I'm sure we can arrange a nice little chat, or a non-lethal duel.

5.) Betrayal and treason are punishable by banishment or death, depending on what mood your leader's in, I suppose. Bottom line, DON'T do it.

6.) Don't be stupid.


RANKS:

LEADER. The leader is self-explanatory. They have absolute power in the group, and handle all diplomacy and orders.

HEIR. When the leader dies and passes their position, usually, one of their progeny takes over--typically the oldest child. If the leader had no children, one of the captains must take the leadership.

CAPTAIN. The captains are second-in-command. They are the elite in both battle prowess and sensibility. There are only two of them at a time. When the leader is not around, they handle all of his or her duties, and if the leader dies without having an heir, one of them takes over leadership.

HERBALIST. The healer of the group. They work with herbal remedies and techniques to fix up the wounded or sick.

COURSER. The fighters of the group. While still wiry and swift, they are strongly built by cheetah standards, and specialize in strafing past enemies while tearing at their sides with fangs or their non-retractable claws.

TOP COURSER. The top courser takes orders directly from the leader in how to operate their unit--the entire courser rank--in a battle. Introduced by Stiletto Torre as a means for automatizing strategies in war, along with the other combat rank leaders.

SCOUT. Scouts are both hunters, messengers, and spies. They are stealthy, the fastest, and silent. They are often the smallest as well.

POINT SCOUT. The point scout leads scouting parties and commands hunting expeditions, often knowing the lay of the land and how to use it very well.

STRIKER. Strikers are assassins. They are trained in quick, silent deathblows. There is no open combat with them. They receive orders directly from the leader, or from the captains through the leader. They tend to be larger than scouts, but smaller than coursers.

LEAD STRIKER. The lead striker can flawlessly coordinate their underlings--the other strikers--in cooperative assassination assignments of stealth wars. It takes a lot of concentration, skill, precision, and experience, along with a level head.

TRAINEE. The cubs who reach 12 months of age begin their training for a rank of their choice, under mentorship of one of that rank.

CUB. The future generation. These are cheetahs below 12 months of age. Enjoy your innocent youth while you can.

MINI CAPTAIN. A fun little rank created by the leader Stiletto Torre as a means for certain younglings to feel better about themselves...think Cub Scouts!

MOTHERS. Female cheetahs move to this rank if they conceive children. After the cubs become trainees, the mothers move back to their original ranks.

ELDERS. The revered, long-lived cheetahs of the group achieve a position of immortal respect, long after they pass and leave us behind.


CURRICULUM(lolyes)

COURSERS: Coursers in training will focus mainly on balancing speed and power in their attacks, as well as lunges, charges, skullbashes, strafing attacks(running past the enemy while slashing their sides), and other hit-and-run techniques.

SCOUTS: Scouts in training learn to balance speed and endurance. They must be able to cover long distances at a good pace while also being able to keep it up for hours or days at a time. Scouts also must learn minor stealth and deathblow skills as they are the hunters of the tribe.

STRIKERS: Strikers in training learn to emphasize power and stealth. They will learn a variety of deathblows for a variety of situations, including neck slashes, neck bites, spinal strikes, throat strikes, death-from-above, etc., and how to creep up on any foe to use them.

Members who show significant skills in leadership, wisdom, and reliability may earn promotions to Captain or Leader.

NOTES ON COURSER CUSTOMS:

The Vennigan Coursers have several customs to their little culture.

To begin with, the coming of autumn in the valley is often celebrated with lots of 'sport' hunting as well as friendly sparring matches, races and agility contests(of course! |D) and exchanging of unique skills and tricks that members may have picked up throughout their life.

Also, when a trainee is deemed ready by their mentor and the leader, the mentor gives their pupil an "initiation" trial, typically one of great difficulty:

-Coursers typically have full-strength sparring matches with their trainees, with no restrictions except not to severely wound or kill the other cheetah.

-Scouts give their students the task of a solo hunt of larger prey or a test of speed, agility, and trickery, usually gathering some courser volunteers to hunt after the trainee for one day, and the trainee must outrun and outwit their pursuers to pass.

-Striker trials are similar to scouts, except they take on a more twisted cat-and-mouse rule. Mentor and student spend on night out in the valley, with both trying to spring the other in a contest of stealth and precision and cunning. To pass, the student must catch their mentor and subdue them (nonlethally, of course!) before the night is over.

A trainee who successfully completes their initiation trial will be recognized the next day as a full rank and respected member of the Vennigan Coursers!

CUSTOMIZATION NOTES:
We accept all breeds/skins of cheetah and all color morphs. This is a list of acceptable customizations:

BREEDS/SKINS: Asiatic Cheetah, King Cheetah, Saharan Cheetah

COLOR MORPHS: Tan, Pale Gold, Ruddy (reddish) Tan, Pale Brown, Maltese (pale blue-gray), Ghost (white, but not albino--still has spots!), etc etc.

Basically, as long as there's no neon colors or purple/green/etc. cheetahs, I'm cool with it. We are semi-realistic. There are no restrictions on eye color, by the way. Also keep in mind that cheetahs are characterized by slim bodies, short muzzles, and long tails.


TERRITORY:

The Vennigan Coursers live in a valley with a river cutting through it. Lush tropical savannah grows for quite a distance on either side of the river, but in the farthest reaches of the valley, the land is barren and rocky. This is where traitors are banished. It is forbidden to enter this part. In between the lush and the barren is the flat prairie, with short, dense grass, but no trees, unlike the lush tallgrass part. The territory (and future map!) is called Vennigan Valley.

Welcome to BlightClan. We are a Warriors Roleplay group, and if you're looking to join, please acquaint yourself with the rules before doing so.

1.) Absolutely no godmodding, powerplaying, or autohitting. If you don't know what these are, ask, and learn.

2.) Swearing is not permitted. This is not my decision, but that of the game rules. If you absolutely MUST use an expletive, censor yourself appropriately, please. Also, NO racial slurs at ALL.

3.) We are a Clan. Based on the story laws of the Warrior Cats series. That means the warrior code comes into play at all times!

4.) Please stay literate in context. No text talk. If you are typing into a chat field on the computer with both the time and
the method of spelling properly with good grammar, DO SO. You have NO EXCUSE.

5.) Have fun and get along! If there is a conflict out of context, let ME(Deino909) handle it, understood?

6.) Please no graphic mating or birthing scenes. You can have bloody fights, but, no dirty or freaky stuff (births are VERY freaky >.>)

------------THE RANKS:------------

Please note: BlightClan adds two ranks: Toxinist and Stalker. They are NOT canon. Please don't be mistaken.

LEADER. Their word is law! Leaders, upon their appointment, travel to receive 9 lives to live for their Clan and the name suffix of "star". They most often precede this rank as deputies, and are in charge of all patrols, diplomacy, battles, and general happenings in the Clan.

DEPUTY. The leader's trusted aide and second-in-command. They take care of tasks when the leader is not around, and most often organize patrols and can lead battles or strategies. The deputy must have mentored at least one apprentice to be eligible for the position.

MEDICINE CAT. The Clan healer and spiritual advisor. They utilize herbs and poultices of plants to cure illnesses and heal wounds and broken bones. The medicine cat also travels to the Clan's spiritual object (typically a pond or stone with luminous properties, e.g. Moonpool or Moonstone) and share dreams with StarClan, the group deity and heaven for Clan cats. They interpret signs from StarClan and walk with the dead in their dreams and visions.

TOXINIST. These cats--a variant of the medicine cat--train in an extensive knowledge of poisonous plants and herbs and how to mix them. They handle toxins for the stalkers--assassins of the Clan--and usually take on an apprentice of their own like the medicine cat. However, toxinists are allowed to have mates and children.

WARRIOR. The lifeblood of the Clan. Warriors hunt, fight, and work, giving their all for the Clan. Warriors are made from apprentices, and are eligible for mentoring a kit who is of age.

STALKER.
This rank is only common to BlightClan. Stalkers are assassins, trained in stealth and ambush and killing tactics more than any cat. Personality traits typically required to be a stalker are a detachment from sympathy towards others and also a fair sense of immorality. They use poisons provided by the toxinist. (Think you're up for the job? I am only allowing 3 stalkers to be applied as. After that, they must be trained from apprentices.)

APPRENTICE. Apprentices are the warriors-to-be, tirelessly training to make their way in the Clan and the world. Apprentice names always end in the suffix 'paw (e.g. Sagepaw or Typhoonpaw) and earn their full name from the leader upon the end of their training. They may choose whether they would like to train for warrior or stalker.

KIT. The next generation! Enjoy youth while you can--kits are apprenticed at six moons(months) of age. Their lives are carefree and filled with play and exploration--don't wander from the camp, though!

QUEEN. She-cats who have conceived kittens are called queens, and move into the nursery to birth and raise their children until the kits are ready to be apprentices.

ELDERS. Revered and wise, elders are cats either skilled or lucky enough to have survived to old age. It is the duty of apprentices to tend to their needs, and listen to them ramble(usually not optional :P)

------------NOTES ON TERRITORY AND MAP:------------

I have a rough draft of our territory but it is far from perfect, and I am not satisfied with it in the least. I'm always open to anybody volunteering to help with anything to do with the mapmaking, especially how the terrain should be crafted and how the objects should be placed. I am open to any hand-drawn maps as concept art for our territory. Remember it is a gloomy, dead forest (see opening picture way up there!). PM me with any ideas, suggestions, or offers of help!
