I've seen quite a few weird looking characters, mostly in Bonfire (no surprise there xD). I think peoples' human characters on a canine model look very weird - everything about them just seems wrong!
And then there's the typical young female wolf characters; mostly jet black with bright pink or purple markings that are rediculously skinny. They're not 'weird' exactly, but common and unoriginal enough.

Ok, I go to click on new object, to put a new object down obviously, but it doesn't show up on the curser but appears hiding in the corner of the map. Why is this, what am I doing wrong?

I'll get straight to the point. I'm making a map, and I wanted to have rivers in it, so I drew the black lines on the height map that you do. But in the map maker, the water for the rivers doesn't show up. It does for the lakes, but not rivers. If anyone could help me out, that would be great! :)

I've also had a friend that died, but from meningitis, so I know what you're going through.  :( But, chin up, and focus on being happy; that's what gets you through.  :)
