Finished Maps / LaughingWolf's Oceanside Cinema [Freebie!]
« on: August 31, 2017, 07:40:21 pm »
I wanted an a-typical, outdoorsy type of cinema experience, so I went with an atmosphere that is more like a drive-in movie mixed with the beach.

The in-game map name is "Movies at the Beach", and is a freebie to anyone who wants to use it. It is perpetually dusk, the only changes to the sky are the stars occasionally appearing. It's got 3 screens with similar layouts for each one, like a drive-in theater does, and plenty of floaties to watch from.
Use it for your groups movie night, or just the FH hosted ones; your call, enjoy!

You know, I didn't even notice that road that goes under the water until I saw this. Nice photography too there, Bawfle.

Game Suggestions & Ideas / Re: I don't expect it to happen...
« on: July 28, 2017, 06:22:47 pm »
I was talking with a friend in-game and I had to run off real quick to let my dog back inside, but when I got back, they had gotten angry that I wasn't replying and they thought I was purposefully ignoring them, so they logged out. I didn't have the time to type "Afk" or anything else, so I got thinking about the possibility of clicking a button in-game that caused a little icon to pop up above the character that either said "afk" or implied that someone was unable to reply at the moment.
I don't really post about these things that I think about (because I know that they require the source code for them to even be thought about being put into place), but this idea just kept nagging me, so I'll leave it here.

In the instance you're talking about, would you have taken the time to click a button instead of typing three keys? [just curious]

That said, to add to this, without editing source code. Though I would like to see an icon or something to show when someone is typing. Instead of waiting for someone to post.. and they've been AFK for 20mins. lol

Game Help / Re: Map Issues
« on: May 24, 2017, 06:50:50 pm »
I've had this issue too, and with the default objects, such as the RockSlab, not showing for some people. Have yet to figure out why that is, but it's manageable, as it's relatively few that have the issue.

I made the mistake once of naming a downloaded group something different, and it shows entirely different objects for some people.

Game Help / Re: Where does everyone talk in game?
« on: May 24, 2017, 06:47:58 pm »
Sometimes even local is sort of dead on the Grounds; sometimes its because groups are speaking in Group, and conversing there or in Party channel.

Up on Recruiter Hill (where you first spawn in from Lonely Cave), is where it's most active in local most of the time though. It depends on what time of day you come on. Mid-morning/noonish is usually pretty dead, it doesn't usually pick up until 2.30p-4p (EST) when people start coming home from classes etc.

Game Discussion / Re: What was your first group?

Scarlet Letter pack was mine. I lived 2 and a half wolf-lives in there. Huojin & Gray were my characters. Both died at an old age (realistic wolf pack, and they had long lives, both died at ~13-15 ic yrs old). I had another character called Seth near the end of the roleplay but he wasn't played much due to the closing of the pack.

It was the group that introduced me to Roleplay. Had no clue what it was when I decided to try out FH, as a playstationHome replacement for me. So it took me about a year to actually play the game regularly. They let me join just to observe, and eventually joined in. The pack, like many, eventually died due to inactivity, lost interest and/or changing lifestyles; but it was fun while it lasted.

Game Discussion / Re: Group Invite Gone Wrong
« on: April 19, 2017, 10:34:29 pm »
Definitely a few controlling group-creators out there. The only time I've -really- seen the attention to character creation is when it's a unique species with a unique look, or 'realistic' groups. I put realistic in quotes, because some don't understand how things work in a truly realistic pack, pride or clan.

To counter the controlling people, I never enter a group with a character I made for/from another group without asking about the group first. I ask for setting (though not everybody knows what that means), if there are any character-creation limits, and sometimes plot-line. Creating a new character altogether gives me the flexibility I need to have a character without needing to worry about their backstory being okay for the group. Plus, I like creating backstories as I go with the rp, learning the character I created, as it were.  Another note, I never join a group that just sends random invites out to make their group larger. I'm a big believer in quality over quantity.

Typically though, the roleplays with over-controlling owners/leaders die out quickly as people realize this person makes rp the opposite of fun with the controlling aspect.

===========

As far as 'mature' goes - usually it's just people that are wanting to cuss and talk about explicit activity/drug content in group; rarely is it about stuff that happens in-character, though there is that one type of group where explicit activity is sort of their M.O.  Though I think those groups should be reported on the spot, tbh; it's not okay to be doing that on a 13+ game. Especially when so many kids lie about their age to make themselves appear more mature. Especially when it comes to mating.

For example, in the group I've been building, its one of the rules: Don't be afraid to say No to something you're not comfortable with, report it to the staff (of the group) if the other party keeps pushing, and the staff will handle it. The way I've built my group is to counter power-seekers; those who simply seek being in control of the group. Staff is not going to be connected to the position the character holds, but that's beside the point.

Like I said, mature means different things to different people. For most it's just adult conversation in Group, or potential for gore and violence or language use in the roleplay. They're just letting people know what they're getting into before they join, it's better that way than to under-label and then you're like "uhhh.... ig2g" /poofs never to be heard from again/. lol

Good luck, it's not very flat if used on a small scale. Can't wait to see what you do with it. :)

Wow these look super cool!!! I bet they look amazing in-game!
