The black means that you are in a map not accessible by FH+. You must move your character to bonfire before opening that character in FH+ since that is the only map that connects the 2 programs :) Hope that helps.

Same for me. For some reason or another the wings are the default color and then in the game they change randomly. I hope Kovu get's the coding figured out for this soon :/

This is what the wing coding should say:
