Game Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Male & Female Character Distinction
« on: January 06, 2013, 01:30:30 am »
I love the pink/blue colouration of the name; it'd make things considerably easier! There's always that difficult moment when someone approaches you that lacks a 'M/F', or even a bio stating their gender. :D

However, I'm personally not sure about the distinction between sexes in terms of size or mane (if they were exclusive to one gender, that is!); I'd still pick the appearance that suits my character the most, regardless of what gender it belongs to! Sometimes my females are huge and masculine, sometimes my males are tiny and feminine, and vice versa. But otherwise, it's a handy-dandy idea!

I can't help but echo the other's words! I do take an occasional gander there- and would happily try to help if it's a unique, but simple, request-... And if I'm aware that the preset/character would be used for many, many, many months. Sadly, it's rarely the case; it's often incredibly detailed (and realistic!) presets required for short-term use. They're certainly possible- but the most complex ones can take up to 10 (or much more!) hours of work.

The self-entitlement's a little off-putting too, apologies; I'd happily help with complicated requests if something substansial was offered in return! :D

Game Discussion / Re: Awkward moments with people/mates
« on: January 05, 2013, 03:26:41 am »
I've luckily had few awkward moments in comparison to most; I tend not to mate unless there's both a long-term, healthy IC and OOC friendship. Not that others don't- I've likely been lucky to avoid the creepier side of the memberbase!  :D

As a female who primarily roleplays males (as many, many others do!), my-... Male characters do tend to get swamped beneath mate requests on public maps- likely moreso to do with the shortage of males, as opposed to their terrible looks. If I had a dollar for every "want 2 be my mate ;3" and every female wolf that stalks me across Flourite, I'd be rich. *flops*

Game Discussion / Re: SKY'S RIM?!?!?
« on: January 05, 2013, 03:06:09 am »
I visited Sky's Rim for the first time earlier (I had no idea you could use the 'set home' when trying to scale the platforms- I'm terrible at them!) and, oddly, experienced the exact same thing. There were people spamming the chat and throwing all-sorts of questionable words around; I'm lucky I remembered to screenshot some of the escapades before blocking the perpetrators (and curling into the fetal position). ;_;

I think it's an issue that does need squinting at, despite its difficult-to-get-to-ness.  It looks like a fantastic area to roleplay in, but it's hard to filter out the hurtful comments without clogging up the block list. *flops*

THEY ARE NOT, YEC. Teach me how to edit screenshots, fhthfh

These characters are..... Wow.
I'm not sure whether its just the pictures, but I really like this lot.
The colours of your chars are sort of.... Pleasing (not black thank goodness)
I think my favourite would have to be the first one.
Not entirely sure I'd like to meet him on a cold, dark night in FH, but you never know ;)

I still can't believe so many people go for black when there's millions of unique and eye-catching combinations available.  :D

Even so, thank you! He's very grumpy, though wouldn't do little else except complain- unless poked repeatedly with miscellaneous pointy objects.

Game Discussion / Re: Mate Centers in Bonfire
« on: January 04, 2013, 05:40:28 pm »
I personally don't like Mate Centers, but I honestly don't mind them lurking around Bonfire; the younger players seem to absolutely love them. Whilst a mate gained from character development and roleplay is longer-lasting and more rewarding, I think the people there aren't looking for anything substantial; they're just after a lil' bit of fun. Not that it validates the behaviour- I've blocked many mate centers for spam alone. :D

Heck, when I'm killing time, I sometimes create a stereotypical black wolf and have a light-hearted bit of fun whilst waiting for friends to pop online. It's entertaining to see him swarmed, though I try not to hurt anyone's feelings by accepting/declining mate requests!

I love Guay. Might I join your Skullen group one day?
I honestly love all, but Guay catches my taste in hellhounds. Can't wait for his preset!~

Eep, thanks a million!

Will try to post somewhere about recruitment for the group once the plot's a lil' more refined and the maps are a lil' more polished; the portal's throwing people into the ocean! We're still muddling around with the concept, too. :D

Characters / Nemena's Characters and Assorted Doodles (Updated 17th)
« on: January 04, 2013, 12:42:35 am »
OOC: I've been somewhat coerced into making a thread; my friends seem confused by my miniature army of characters. It's a joy to roleplay here and I hope it's alright if I introduce folk to my beloved oddballs! Ahoy and salutations to those I've not had the pleasure of meeting yet, too.  :D

This thread'll be updated as the roleplay progresses (and as my character list grows)! All artwork on the page is mine- please do not alter, edit or redistribute without my permission!

SKREEL
PRESET: http://www.mediafire.com/?l6ll1b5aa88boyo

Name: Skreel.
Gender: Male.
Species: Spotted Hyena.
Age: Adult.

Description: Skreel rarely seems to smile; his mud-smoothered maw is generally marred by a stern, begrudging frown. He's reluctant to initiate conversation, preferentially keeping his attention fixated upon his- often hostile- surroundings.

The battleworn hyena's hulking, muscular form seems unusually robust for his gender; his stature even rivals the average female's. Standing a good head or two above the average male, he's certainly put his size to good use-- in battle.

Even so, his own strength has limits; his body's lathered with heinous injuries, both old and new, the most distinctive being a jagged scar horizontally stretched across the bridge of his snout. The gashes across his flanks, arms and legs are all in varying stages of recovery- he rarely waits for his wounds to heal before delving into battle once again.

History: Mercilessly driven from his cackle after being wrongfully accused of a crime he didn't commit, Skreel soon adapted to life as a loner, blatantly refusing to ally himself with another clan for a number of long, tedious years. While he managed to survive on small prey and scraps of scavenged meat, it felt like a half-existence; he didn't truly feel alive. After a fate, chance encounter with his former matriarch, mounting tensions lead to an all-out brawl between the hyenas, soon leaving Skreel as the (rather unexpected) victor.

After his recovery, he found himself incapable of resisting the call of battle; he found it exhilarating- it gave a new purpose and meaning to his listless existence. Driven on by sheer tenacity and the thirst for war, Skreel tackled larger and larger prey, shifting entirely from rodents and carcasses, to female hyenas-- and even lions. However, he didn't always win; the heinous scars and injuries that mar his imposing form are signs of his losses and mistakes.

Despite the extreme risk, the battleworn and scarred hyena savors every waking second of his new found lease on life.

GUAY AND THE SKULLEN

Name: Guay
Gender: Male
Species: Skullen
Age: Young.

Appearance and Mannerisms: Small and most certainly obnoxious, Guay's rarely seen without an expression of mischief shimmering within his glowing, amber eyes. His motions are swift- and bouncy; his lithe form's more suited to agility than strength. Similarly to all Skullen, a hefty, skeletal mask covers the overwhelming majority of his face from view; it's surprising his tiny frame's even capable of carrying such a large object.

Brief Background: Guay is a Skullen (otherwise known as a skullhound)- a fictional species created by Yecurzo and myself. They reside in Skullpeak and SkeletonValley (the maps available in our Skullen group). The Skullen come in a multitude of various colours, though are all similar in terms of patterns and anatomy- irrespective of their individual weights and heights. The most characteristic feature of these canines are the skeletal masks that permanently cover their faces from view; there's no recorded individual without one.

Always born in pairs, the two siblings fight to the death shortly after birth- ensuring that the most energy and nutrients are fed straight to the strongest offspring- thus aiding its successful survival into adulthood. The skull's removed from the fallen sibling and used as a form of mask. Oddly, it appears to grow along with its wearer; it's as if the other sibling lives by ensuring the other's survival- via  protection.  A Skullen without a skull quickly succumbs to illness and death; the irreversible bond between sibling and skull is necessary for life.

However, sightings of a malevolent maskless skullen have thrown the entire race into turmoil...

Guay, oddly, appears little more than a mere runt, his mask dwarfing his puny frame. It's difficult to deduce how the weaker individual defeated its considerably larger sibling.

(I'm currently working on a preset for these!)

DREK'AVANJI

Name: Drek'Avanji the Grey
Gender: Male
Species: Wolf
Age: Elder

Appearance and Mannerisms:Grumpy by nature, a grin rarely creases this elderly canine's maw. The most noticeable aspect of his appearance are his pallid, piercing eyes; they almost seem to exhume a cold, frigid aura- despite this canine's distinct lack of extraordinary talents or powers. He walks with an awkward shamble of a gait, his haggard limbs creaking and crackling with protest along with his unsteady motions.

His shaggy, graying fur seems matted and lank; it's doubtful that his own personal walfare is considered his highest priotity in life; he still bears the prominent scars and bald patches from previous scuffles and battles.

Brief Background: This grumpy excuse for a wolf remains thin-lipped and quiet about his background; it's something that can only be found out via IC interaction (it's too long to include here!).

VARK

Name: Vark
Gender: Female
Species: Wolf
Age: Young Adult

Appearance and Mannerisms: Muddied and dishevelled, this canine's evidently seen better days; her coat's marred and matted with layers of filth. Skeletal markings have been hastily (and crudely) painted upon her tangled fur, exaggerating her thin and unkempt form. However, despite her harsh appearance, her amber eyes glimmer with youth and enthusiasm for her  changing surroundings; this canine drifts from location to location akin to a leaf in the wind.

Brief Background: Her parents, unusually, are completely alive- and well. She harbours no inner turmoil, no demons or extraordinary abilities. If anything, it seems she's merely a canine with a penchant for wandering; it's likely she left her family and pack at maturity to travel, gaining her markings from those she's met along her journey. Their intricate shapes arguably suggest they were painted by human hands- a fact which Vark vehemently denies.

RENTAKI AND COMPANY

Rentaki, the highest ranked male of his clan. He joined Maeru's unscrupulous cackle in a last-ditch effort to ensure his survival in a disastrous, year-long drought. Although physically weaker than the other males, his smarmy accent and vivacious personality lead him to ascend the ranks at an astonishing rate.

Nakaru and Verodai, two hyenas who allied themselves with Maeru, but soon left to pursue their own agendas. Nakaru departed after the dredges of hyena society began to fill his clan's ranks, wheras Verodai ran off to start his own cackle of hyaenidae.

VASKEN

Name: Vasken
Gender: Male
Species: Canine/Pup
Age: Late teens/young adult.

Appearance and Mannerisms: Short, squat and round, this small canine's excitable mannerisms practically appear to resemble the very epitome of enthusiasm; he's rarely without a keen grin and a lolloping tongue. Two miniature, tusk-like canines poke out from his lower jaw; they're too puny to serve as effective weaponry. His coat's thick and plush in nature, its light blue colouration effective at blending in within glacial surroundings. However, this pup's far from a muscular hulk; he's clearly overweight- likely due to being coddled and overfed by his closest companions.

In terms of behaviour, it's doubtful the light's ever on; he seems severely deficient in both the intelligence and common sense departments.

(Now plundering towards maturity, Vasken's lost the majority of his 'puppy fat' and seems intent on imitating his idol (and protector), adopting the same no-nonsense attitude as the elder canine. Even so, the nervous, springy pup he once was frequently shines through his facade of passivity.

Brief Background: Abandoned for reasons unknown to even himself, this canine immediately latched onto the first being who offered him a single midge of compassion (albeit begrudgingly...): Yecurzo. Vasken rarely seems to stray far from his considerably larger, wolven companion- even though he's no longer the young, bewildered pup he once was.

My in-game username's Nemena and I'm always up for a bit of roleplay if I'm not already in the middle of some- feel free to poke me! :D

TEACH ME HOW TO DO SUCH MAGIC WITH SCREENSHOTS. These are wuvely- though I'm sure I've already expressed my opinion on their wuvliness too many times to comprehend!

Wuvely.
