Recruitment break is off!  Come on and join us!

72
Hello all!  I'll be adding this to the top of the actual post too, but I'm adding in that Los Sabuesos is temporarily an ask-to-join RP, we will be taking a break from recruiting.  This is not a high member demand storyline, and we like to focus on building our members personal character stories instead of focusing on gathering a bunch of new ones.
So to focus on that and the plot, we are not publicly recruiting but if you hop into the discord or simply add leda and ask, you'll be accepted just fine!

Info on joining is at the bottom of this post!

Through the New Mexican desert towards the Jemez mountains, a long highway road runs.  Though rarely traveled on by man, it is still used to this day as a guide and path for other wanderers.  Specifically, dogs.  Stray dogs.

Maybe they have turned from their lives by choice; their homes were cruel, unfair, or perhaps they just felt a greater calling awaited them after hearing the tales of the hounds that lay past the highway.
Maybe they were forced from their homes; they haven't the faintest idea where they're going or what to do now, they quite literally walk the road less travelled in hopes of finding shelter.  By chance they walk the highway.

Either way, be it chance, some sort of strange instinct, or just a want to serve a greater purpose, these hounds have been brought to the highway.  Los Sabuesos- The Hounds- highway, named after the many dogs who have been seen walking down it.

Near the highway, an old abandoned shed lay.  This is known as the Shanty, where Los Sabuesos take shelter.  Each day and night they send out patrols, not just for food and scouting, but also to seek out and guide new ones from the road and back to a place where they'll belong.
"You may walk a thousand paw steps to find Los Sabuesos, but in the end, it is Los Sabuesos who will find you."

Some come from the furthest countrysides.  Some come from the nearest civilization just an hour's drive away.  Wherever they come from, or why they have come, in the end it doesn't matter.  Be it the tiniest chihuahua to the grandest mastiff, Los Sabuesos takes all willing to shed blood for the pack, withstand the desert temperatures, and hunt and scavenge.

So if the life of a Sabueso called to you, would you answer it?  Would you walk the highway?  Perhaps you should keep reading.

LOS SABUESOS IS...

Literate.  We are lenient on literacy and don't require samples.  However, be it immediately or through gradual improvement, we expect members to write at least one and a half FH posts for each role play post.

Realistic. We require realistic looking and acting dogs.  Their colors must be realistic, along with their designs.  We have slight leniency but generally aim for realism.  The dogs can communicate with each other/speak to each other, and have an established system of handling their pack, but this is as unrealistic as it gets.  Besides that, the pack is even encouraged to be dominance driven and a bit aggressive to maintain natural dog behavior.

One-Pack. There are not coyotes, wolves, etc.  The main focus is Los Sabuesos, and we do not allow loners.  Despite it being one pack, we still have a LOT of plots planned for it, don't let the lack of other groups turn you away!  Plenty of internal conflict is planned already.

Unique.  Our role play as a unique survival and "struggle" system implemented that applies all the more realism.  This system allows for the community to vote and make decisions on what to do next in sub plot lines, though one of these choices has a bad ending, and if voted upon, it can result in unwanted plot consequence... alongside that system, we also have thoroughly written out pack traditions and ceremonies to keep things interesting!

Discord Required.  All of our information is kept on our discord.  Activity is not required in it, but it's where updates are found, guidebooks, and our map download, so discord is required to join this role play.  Keep in mind you can always easily use it on your browser through discord app.com

Beautifully mapped.  And lastly, our role play has a beautiful desert map.  There's 8 maps in the map pack in total, and for older computers, our map comes in a lag help mode.  Interested in seeing previews?  Head on over to https://www.deviantart.com/rookfox where heaps are uploaded!

Here's some previews of both our pack, and the mainland of the map pack.  Below these you'll find info on joining!

INTERESTED IN JOINING?
Then hop on into our discord!  THERE IS NO OBLIGATION.  You are completely welcome to join it, look around, and if you decide against joining you can just as easily pop out with no hard feelings.  The head admin of the discord is moi, Leda / Carolina, and you can message me anytime with more questions!
You can also add in game user leda and shoot a whisper in game, but keep in mind that a discord join is still required anyways.

Finished Maps / Re: GREYBOONE - A snowy mountains map pack
« on: August 28, 2018, 05:18:36 am »
There's one issue I have with this map. If you fall down the slopes as a character without wings, it's very difficult to get back up. This is especially a problem because the entrance portal (the portal that'll take you back to the Cape of Distant Worlds) is located right on top of the slope, making it hard to go back without the "go home" function or without giving your character wings.

Other than that, it's very nice and it seems like you've had a lot of work with it. I'll be busy trying to sniff out the secrets of the map - it's going to take another while.

I just wanted to acknowledge this because I've heard this a few times;  this was because it was originally intended for just a private small sled dog role play for some close friends, we all had just one character knowing it was temporary, and the RP began with them crashing down the slope.  For what reason unknown the height and realism of the slope was important to me, I guess because I wanted it to actually look like they couldn't get back up?  and then it actually turned out like that when it was done.
As the RP came to an end I wanted to edit it so I could release it, which included finishing the missing map file, and of course the portal set there for the start of the RP, but my Mac crashed, so I no longer had the editable file for that.

I've found you just have to go up at an angle around the curve of the rocky part and dash up, then I can get up in a second or two then... still, I know that's annoying!

So sorry about the portal placement.  I hope you enjoy besides that.  Thanks for the input! <3

Finished Maps / GREYBOONE - A snowy mountains map pack
« on: May 20, 2018, 06:06:51 pm »
Just gonna post the description from my deviantart, also gonna go ahead and include some rules!  Check the very bottom of the post for the download.

for larger preview, bc for some reason this shrank, see here !  https://www.deviantart.com/rookfox/art/GREYBOONE-PUBLIC-MAP-2018-745694688

Greyboone's Mountains were previously used for our temporary and private role play, "Akiak" which told the story of a sled dog team who ends up crashing down a slope they cannot climb up again.  This crash results in the eventual death of their dear person, and the group is left to fend for themselves.  Out of the several team members, only two or three made it to the end of the role play session.  I made this map for just a temporary role play, I would hate to see it go to waste.  I'll leave you here with an introduction and small plot we had going for Greyboone's territories, and then you're free to either build on that and use the plot, or come up with something completely different for your own role play and purposes.

GREYBOONE is at the heart of many trails, slopes and hunting places.  It is also the heart of treachery and desperation among predators.  The winter is seemingly endless amongst the land, making the slopes that surround it covered in ice and snow just as Greyboone is.  This has resulted in the crashes of several sled dog teams among these slopes, and the loss of hunting dogs whom stray just a bit too far into it's reaches.  Besides the occasional lost dog, the area is far more rich in foxes, wolves, and cougars, whom fight amongst each other constantly for the same resources that Greyboone has to offer.
The area is generally untouched by humans, who intend to preserve it's wildlife, and who intend to not get eaten by predators or lost to the constantly worsening weather conditions.  There have even been search parties sent to Greyboone who simply do not return.

This offers the option for several interesting role play perspectives :
- crashed sled dog teams, confused by the wilders and desperate to find rescue that will likely never come.
- wandering hunting dogs, always confused as to why their person never followed them or came looking for them... at least they know how to hunt for food.
- conniving cougars, who remain hidden until the night or dreadful snowstorms arrive... you only see them because they let you see them.
- cunning foxes, who know exactly how to play the gullible to their own advantage, and how to steal or sneak their way to their next meal.
- or, whatever you want, because at the end of the day, what Greyboone really is and what stories it really holds is completely up to you/your groups imagination.

With the base description aside, I'd like to go over some quick quick rules!

1.  no, you don't have to use any of the posted plot for your role play.  If you wanted to call the map Smelly Boy Peak for your role play and say a bunch of giant dragons live there, that's a okay.  That was simply the preferred/base plot we had going and since the RP has ended, I wanted to share in case others were interested in building off of it!

2.  Please be respectful of other people in the map!  While I think it's great to role play with anyone and everyone, I also think it's great to let people hold private role play sessions if they or their role play need it (although if that IS the case, consider party?).

3.  Please don't claim the map!  The map was made by in game user leda, or user Rookfox.  "Credit to the person who made it" is lazy, and is not credit!

4.  Camps and dens are first come first serve.  If you and another group are fighting over it and don't know who came first, consider seeking a different camp, give it to the bigger/more active group, or block each other completely while RPing.  There's no reason to fight over a silly camp.

5.  Please don't come to me with questions until you've read the map DL read me!  It's very frustrating when I spend two hours writing those and people don't even look at them.  Just take a gander before PMing/commenting below, will ya?

OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES...
- The map was originally going to be expanded on, but I lost all of the map files and wasn't able to ever build on them.  Near the entrance by a small source of water, you may find a portal that has no map attached to it.  This is normal, and just something I never got to.
- If you experience other missing map files though, please let me know so I can look into it and check the download.
- If you're experiencing missing textures, reinstall and thoroughly follow the read me.  If nothing comes of that, comment below and again I will check the download.
- If you experience any lag, crashing or bad tokens, check the read me for a guide on that, but do keep in mind that part of that is simply FeralHeart being an older game.
- Lastly, I don't recommend lighting mods and such with Greyboone's mainland unless your computer is high up there.  The mainland is large and although I can run it fine, I would still say it's a bit iffy with mods like that.  Consider turning them off, or deleting Greyboone's weather file if you're leaving them on.

And FINALLY, you have made it to the map download.  I'll be ya didn't read all of that them there above ^ , but just know I recommend it!

Meshes / Leda's Realistic Rock Collection!
« on: May 09, 2018, 04:27:38 am »
just gonna post what I posted on my deviant art post because I'm lazy, but stay tuned if you're in need of brand spanking new realistic rocks for your maps!

so, I've kind of been hoarding these to myself for a while now, which I kind of realized isn't super right because, while I DID blend them up, edit them, make them seamless, and all that fancy stuff, the original textures I used and modified weren't mine, and I simply put them on a default rock object.  So I figured eh, why hoard 'em?

PLEASE SEE THE .TXT FILE.  If your question can be answered by viewing the .txt file, it is unlikely I'll answer it.  It also just contain basic and important information that I'd like people to see (:
PLEASE DON'T BOTHER ME ABOUT HOW THE DOWNLOAD IS "DISORGANIZED."  I am on a Mac, and every time I create a folder, a new log file loads up into the folder.  This file does show up in people's download files ('ds_store' I believe) and can mess with my downloads that I upload.  So, I can't very well create organized folders for my downloads without it glitching.  I apologize!
THIS IS THE FIRST TRIAL AND RUN OF THIS.  So if you've looked at the read me and still can't figure something out, then please feel free to comment below about the issue you've run into so that I can ensure it doesn't occur with anyone else.  Usually the first time I upload something, media fire or my Mac messes up something and certain files don't show up.  I hope that isn't the case here, but if it is, check back within two days and I can almost guarantee the issue will be resolved then.

With that out of the way, here is the download!  And remember, see that .txt file! http://www.mediafire.com/file/eqn715qxx946yp3/ledas%20rock%20pack.zip
(fixed two missing rock textures may 9th 2018)

edit : oh real quick I do wanna be clear that the textures I used were in fact commercial use textures from sites such as textures.com, which I modified to be compatible for the game and blended them up with other textures.  don't want no one to think I stole a bunch of textures or somethin' !

thank you!!  since the maps/territories are in smaller sections i'm hoping the map maker lets me pull off all of this detail.  Thanks for the input!

something I've been working on! recently i put out Treigthe, which was nice and fun to make, but it has some lag issues that i can't seem to sort out.  this here map pack i've been working on is more separated into sections, rather than in one large map.  this allows for great detail, lesser lag, and any residing groups to have their literal own territory.
this to-be-officially-named project features almost completely custom textures, from the ground textures to the oak trees.  It'll be used as a main example in my upcoming, very cheap map commissions.
the map will be added on to and updated over time, but the first version I'm working on will have ...
- 5 (or possibly and hopefully more) camps with their own territories.  Each territory will blend into the next, but they will all be diverse, from sandy and dirty, to grassy, to rocky, to thickets.  Territories will likely be in separate maps, but with borders so that each clan can have the option of role play with each other, or keeping to their own clan territory.  again, this allows for more detail in the actual territory!
- many, many nooks and crannies like loner dens, landmarks, and simply just scenes for nice role plays or screenshots.
- a "community" moon pool map, two leg farm, and community gathering place.
- extreme detail, but HOPEFULLY not to a laggy or crashy extent.
- all the textures and materials i used/made so that those who are kind enough to download and check the map out, also have the option to use the realistic flowers, undergrowth, shrubbery, trees and more that i used to make the map.

the project will take some time, but i'm so excited to put out such a big warriors map that i had to share some previews.  If anyone happens to be reading this, feel free to make some camp, territory, etc suggestions below.  I also need help with a name, and here are some options I've been looking at!
Rill Stone Rivers
Burrow Beck
River's Rest
Timber Brook
The Endless Thickets
The Brambles
Coppice Run
The Coppice
Firth Burrow
The Lavenders
The Undergrowth
any who, let me know.  further updates will be posted here (:
