Game Help / Re: Downloaded Map Crash Help. ASAP, if applicable. x"D

I've tried that to no avail as well. ;u; I've gone as far as placing FeralHeart on a flashdrive and exporting the map to there.
I notice it says there are errors with a lot of files that don't exit and are deleted, though; for example, the WC files.

The WCO is not in my files, nor did it come with the map. :U

Game Help / Downloaded Map Crash Help. ASAP, if applicable. x"D
« on: January 28, 2013, 11:05:20 pm »
Hey guys!
I'm here to plead for help; a warriors roleplay that means a lot to me is being revived with a big, new map.
I think the more technologically-advanced of you will be able to tell what my problem is already. x'D
Basically, every time I log in I get a few tokens and then an immediate crash. Vista gets all up in my grill; "FeralHeart.exe has stopped working".
The logs are different and hard for me to work with, but I'm not the best with FeralHeart so here is what I can do for you: here is one of the logs.
"Capabilities:: VertexProgram: NO
Capabilities:: FragmentProgram: YES
Sound:: Initialized: YES
WARNING::LoadFile:Overwriting Particle Template: StarAura
Cannot find item with index 38
WARNING::LoadFile:Overwriting Particle Template: WaterSplash

ERROR::WorldObject: failed to load ObjectGroup WCO
ERROR::SaveFile:loadz: ANLV2Gates.cfg failed!
"
The outstanding reason I see for the crashes is the 'gate' file. This is really odd to me because of the fact that the map does not have a 'gate' in the name, nor another map connected to it with the name of 'gate'. Other logs talk of particle overloads, WoW objects derping around, and like here WCO objects.
I know that I can try deleting the my_(fill in the blank here) to try fixing lag, but I don't want to maim the map if possible.
Also!
I have a mod from somewhere long ago that makes the leaves and grass move; WindClan has a /lot/ of grass. I tried replacing the grass file but the grass still moves; if someone could tell me what to get replaced to fix that it would be a huge help and much better than just telling me to delete it, mainly because I like the mod and want to lock it away in a folder someplace for use in the future.
Anything would help, as this seems to only happen to me. x'D Thanks a TON, and replying as soon as possible would make extremely happy. :'3

Sorry to say, but the chances of getting FeralHeart to run on Windows 8 are slim. Just as some games need different versions just for, say, a Vista and a Windows 7, there is probably going to need to be another version for a Windows 8. (I honestly didn't know Windows 8 was out yet! x3) Also, if it is a tablet as in an iPad or the sort, I doubt it'll run a game like FeralHeart, or any kind of 3D rendering. It just may not have the correct drivers.

But, you called it a tablet and then a laptop. I honestly barely know squat about tablets, but if it is a laptop I can help; you can right click the game from either the desktop or the downloaded FeralHeart folder and click, 'Properties'. At the top, you'll see tabs reading, 'General', 'Shortcut', 'Compatibility', and so on. Now, keep in mind my computer is older so it may or may not be word for word, but more or less the same. Click on compatibility.
Two things here can help you; when you click 'Compatibility', near the top should be a faint box surrounding the word, 'Compatibility Mode'. (Let me point out I have never worked with a Windows 8, so I wouldn't know if the Windows 8 even has this feature. Windows 7 did, on the other hand, so I'm going to sit here and type like a little derp and hope this helps you in some way. c:) Tick the box next to, 'Run this program in compatibility for:' and a list will become visible, or at least un-masked. The default is most likely Windows XP, Service Pack 2. This is most likely what will work. Your computer may have a Windows 7 compatibility feature on that list, in which you could click that; click on the drop-down arrow, and click Windows XP if it isn't (Service Pack 2).
Then go down and tick, 'Run this program as an administrator'. Sometimes this helps, sometimes it doesn't.
Now, hit 'Apply' and 'OK' at the bottom of the box and hope for the best; I'm not sure how much this will help, but I hope it does~ It helped me run a few older games, and even games my computer couldn't handle very well, such as Impressive World when it constantly crashed.

A last hope would be to find some sort of emulator, if that's the right word for this situation, to let you play Windows 7 games or down.  But that's pretty risky, Google is a scary place sometimes. xD

Sorry that this was long, sorry for my lack of knowledge of models above Windows 7 and tablets and stuff, and I hope this helped! :'D

Game Suggestions & Ideas / Re: A way to ban people from private maps?
« on: November 06, 2012, 05:33:51 pm »
Amen to that suggestion~!
I believe this needs to be assessed by Red or one of those awesome floofs; a white-list would be perfect for mini-maps. (And apparently it has, but another look couldn't really hurt. ;w;) Here, have some reasons I spent hours coming up with to do so! :D
  • Okay, first of all! Often times, and I'm not saying all the time, if someone is asked to leave a map permanently or for a long amount of time or whatnot, they'll have had to have done something exceedingly bad or repeatedly broken the set rules of that map or roleplay. If this is the case, who says they are going to leave? They may believe they are in the right, after all.
  • Next; people work hard on their private maps for roleplays. Its not something that people just slop over, it is something that takes a long amount of time and lots of effort. Why do people do this? They make maps because they want it to become a roleplay ground where many people can create memories and have fun. When some people come traipsing in and breaking rules left or right, or trolling even, it can really hurt them. Why would their maps need to go to waste? A white-list would help solve this problem.
  • Additionally, some private maps are private for a reason. There are no official FeralHeart moderators there, only mods assigned by the creators of the map and or roleplay. These people need to have some form of rule over their own map, be it a self-assigned moderator or administrator. Most people understand that when they can get 'kicked' or 'banned' from a roleplay, it means the mass-ritual banning of that member. Well, now many people look to that with a ready sneer, as they know the personal map's moderators' warnings are mere text and they can't do anything about their misdemeanor. Well, a white-list could certainly change that. c:
  • Furthermore, a white-list would be useful on FeralHeart because some people love to roleplay. I know this sounds ridiculous, as you wouldn't even make an account on FeralHeart if you didn't love to roleplay, but some of us hold it more loved or treasured than others. I, for example, gave up my boyfriend for this game. Yes, an act of a foreveralone-lifeless nerd, but an action I'm happy with. Again, many people take their roleplaying quite seriously. When trolls come along, or rule-breakers, it can really derail some people. A white-list could help get the full effect of FeralHeart.
Ohmai. It feels like I just typed an essay for school or something.
Well, technically I did type an essay. For a good cause! *Shakes fist and raises poster*.
Anywho, a white-list on FeralHeart would be a great thing.
Now, I'm no technician or game-maker, but it couldn't be that hard to do, right? I mean, it could be like Minecraft is (Lol, yes... I am so sorry for referencing another game, but fo' reals!) with it's little notepad document where you list the names of users not allowed in your server. Or something you can create in the map maker, though if this were so, every time you'd ban a member you'd need a map update... [Andsomemapsareprettybig. :I] I understand it could be confusing in the fact that anybody could get a hold of this notepad file, but there has to be a way, right...? I dunno, this isn't really up to me. *Points to not a technician or game-maker*.
Welp, thanks for your time and thanks for reading thus far! This would be a genuinely amazing addition to FeralHeart. Just sayin'. :3

Game Help / Map crashes?
« on: August 07, 2012, 03:06:26 am »
As soon as I enter a map, I can only walk right. If I walk left, or even move the camera left, the game crashes. It's very odd!

I downloaded the map today, same time as everyone else.
I've restarted my computer.
I've re-downloaded the map.
I've reinstalled FeralHeart.

Anything else I can do to get this map to work?

Here's the log;

"[10:54:30 PM] Hazelstiltskin: Capabilities:: VertexProgram: NO
Capabilities:: FragmentProgram: YES
Sound:: Initialized: YES
WARNING::LoadFile:Overwriting Particle Template: StarAura

ERROR::SaveFile:loadz: HorrorMapFullerWater.cfg failed!
MapManager::loadObjectsFile: ParticleSystem not found: Bonfire

ERROR::SaveFile:loadz: HorrorMapFullerGates.cfg failed!
ERROR::SaveFile:loadz: HorrorMapFullerWater.cfg failed!
Cannot find item with index 81
Cannot find item with index 37"

I'm not too technical, so I'm so lost.
Thanks for your time!

Game Help / Downloaded Map, Failed to Connect to Server?
« on: June 15, 2012, 11:26:35 pm »
So I downloaded a multiplayer map that worked since the beginning, and ever since the day the FeralHeart server had been offline it fails to connect. I've tried reinstalling, and using a different character also on that map, and it just tells me failed to connect to map server, opposed to the usual token or two and then letting me in.

I understand it might be because of the whole host server issue, but I want to know if I'm the only one dealing with this or how I can fix it. If anyone knows, leave a comment please~! <3

Game Suggestions & Ideas / Group Suggestion- Group Mods?
« on: May 20, 2012, 10:17:59 pm »
Whenever a Group leader or alpha is offline, usually it's hard for new members to join owo
(I have that problem alot :I)
So if there were mods to the Group, which the leader could select, then others could be added easier and such~
I dunno, just a suggestion xD

« on: May 10, 2012, 09:48:30 pm »
Yup~
After downloading a mesh file for a map item, where do you put it? I'm not sure why mine aren't showing up so I figure they're in the wrong place~ xD

Game Help / Re: Terrain Color Mask Help~?
« on: May 09, 2012, 03:13:31 am »
The only time I changed opacity was when making the top layer lighter than the bottom so I could see what went where, like rivers and stuff. And I have no idea about overlapping hurr, I have Photoshop and Gimp and I'm the kidn of person to lazy and antsy to sit through a 30 minute youtube tutorial about how to create one; I've watched a 20 min one and theirs worked, and I just sat watching with a mini-rage face on. xDD FH is being a derp~ ;w;
