I like it! Her aggressive and hardy nature sounds like she might fit the bill of a Colonel more than a Beta.
If you would like her and Kita to meet, so that I may add her to the group, I'm currently at the bridge in Fluorite. Unless you'd instead like to meet up at the +?

It's up! And crossbreeding is allowed -- I'll add that in.

I'm about ready to start accepting once I'm finished updating the first post. I'll be adding an application of sorts very soon. I appreciate your interest!

The website is currently in the works, but I'm in the process of updating the first post with information to substitute until then. And presets are indeed allowed!

I've never started a thread here on the forums, because I won't lie -- my activity and muse trickles in and out. I'm actually just returning from a very long hiatus... a hiatus practically spanning through my high school years.
But this group has been around since before then, and it still interests me, so I figured it was worth "advertising" here!

The Hyena Army is both exactly as it sounds, and entirely the opposite. It's a group whose end-goal is peace -- a sanctuary away from those lion and wolves who believe hyenas exist only to be villains. Unprovoked bullying from the more common species in FH was what sparked this alliance into existence in the first place.

You might think a group aiming for peace might get boring, but big groups of hyena always seem to attract attention, even in the recluse space they've claimed as their home (the desert (+) in Fluorite Plains, though I'm considering making a map).
That's alongside the inner-Clan drama, of course, as no family ever gets along 100% of the time.

Through the years, the group has seen many come and go-- including the two co-founders of HA, one of which was Kita's mate. The numbers have dwindled into an embarrassing state of... just Kita. But without any other goal in sight, he continues his quest for a new family.

Rules/Acceptance:

- appearances: semi-realism in design/colour... aka, they should look like hyenas. the "canine" model is required, but that much should be obvious. you're free to use whatever ears you'd like, though "hyena ears" are recommended for spotted's, and "normal" or "sharp" for striped/brown. please choose between sickle or wolf for their tail. eye colour can be whatever. below is a picture of a spotted, striped, and brown hyena for reference (as this group accepts all three breeds), but don't be afraid to get creative! as long as you're not a rainbow, i will personally be content.

here are my own versions, trying to get as authentic as possible to each subspecies:

(hyena ears)

(normal ears)

(sharp ears)

...though one look at Kita, and you can obviously get more creative than that!

- appearances II: items... if you can explain the item realistically, it'll be more or less accepted. no... guns or bubbles or weird stuff like that, though. twigs, feathers, and collars (with an explanation) are your safest bet, if anything at all.

- literacy: we accept anyone whose writing is enjoyable and easy to read.

- characters: get creative with personalities and backgrounds! just... no mary-sues or gary-stus. when it comes to fighting, no "automatically landing hits". basic rules of rp fairness.

Also, some facts regarding hyenas... (will hopefully be updated the more I learn):

GENERAL:
- hyenas are not canines. in fact, they're more closely related to felines! but their distant enough to be in a group of its very own. hyenas are pretty special!
- they live up to 12 years in the wild.
- they do not have a mating season, and gestation lasts about 3 months.
- litters consist of 2-4 cubs (1-5 for brown hyenas). cubs begin to eat meat at about 5 months, but will also suckle as long as 12-18 months. cubs will begin learning how to hunt at 1 years old -- until then, they are left by the den and babysat by an adult.
- hyenas are omnivores and eat everything in a meal -- including bones!

SPOTTED HYENA:
- females are 3x bigger than males! (they also tend to be more dominant/aggressive, but that's more up to the personality of your character)
- cubs are born all black/dark brown (the colour of their spots) and will develop their regular coat colour through time. they're also born with their eyes open!
- young hyenas have very prominent spotting, while older hyenas' spots will be more faded.

meaning your cub should look something like this!:

STRIPED HYENA:
- males and females appear relatively the same, though males tend to be slightly larger.
- cubs are born with their adult stripes, unlike spotted hyenas. they are born with their eyes closed.

BROWN HYENA:
- unlike the spotted, and similar to the striped, brown hyena cubs are born with their eyes closed and will open them within a week.

THE HYENA ARMY

-- The Clan has adopted the brown hyena's pack structure to adapt to all three species' needs.

What you need to know:

- The Clan is lead by alphas.

- Members can either pair for life or go through mates like a fat man goes through candy bars.

- Adolescents will be trained in combat for defensive purposes, and will attend at least one hunting patrol.

- Members are allowed to crossbreed; this means offspring may display traits from either parent.

- The territory, currently, is the desert + in Fluorite Plains.

RANKS

-- Alpha Male (HAA): 1/1: Kita

-- Alpha Female (HAA): 0/1: N/A
- former: KreiZ, ex-mate of Kita

-- Beta (HAB): 0/2: the second-in-command(s) of the Clan. he or she oversees that all is being taken care of in the Clan and that everyone is doing their job. they must be skilled in combat as well, and are usually Colonels or Generals before ranking Beta. they're usually in charge of training the Alphas' offspring.

-- Shaman (HASh): 0/1: the primary healer of the Clan. they are experts in medicine, and are in charge of treating injury and illness within the Clan. the Shaman is also in charge of assisting mothers give birth, as well as training their nurses and choosing a primary successor.

-- Nurse (HAN): 0/5: to assure that the Clan stays safe and healthy, the Shaman takes up to 5 apprentices in which to split up their tasks and responsibilities. Nurses assist the Shaman when they must. one Nurse, usually the best and most experienced, is chosen by the Shaman to succeed them.

-- General (HAG): 0/1: the highest combat rank. the General oversees all military-related activity, and is the head of defense in the Clan. The General is the one who assigns Colonels and oversees the training of Majors and Soldiers.

-- Colonel (HAC): 1/5: Asteria

serving just under the General, the Colonels are the head of HA's five platoons. they each have one or two Majors beneath them, and are in charge of choosing and training Majors to then train future Soldiers and adolescents. the Colonel will also lead their platoon on missions, but leaves basic patrolling to their Majors.

-- Major (HAM): 0/10: the Majors are in charge of training Soldiers and adolescents in basic combat. Majors also lead their platoons on border patrols to sustain the peace and keep out all trouble.

-- Soldier (HAS): 0/infinite: Soldiers are the regular ranking members of the combat branch. They're adult hyenas, generally on the bigger and/or tougher side, who've dedicated their life to making sure that their Clan remains the sanctuary it was meant to be.

-- Chief (HACh): 0/5: the heads of the hunting branch: these are the best of the best when it comes to hunting. they assign hunting patrols, if they don't lead them themselves.

-- Hunter (HAH): 0/infinite: every adolescent is taught the basics of hunting, but Hunters are the ones who loved it. they're the fastest, sharpest hyenas who find great thrill in the hunt. they're in charge of making sure the Clan is well fed, and because of their contribution, are one of the first to eat.

-- Queen (HAQ): 0/infinite: a temporary rank: mothers expecting or nursing young become this rank until they are ready to return to their duty.

-- Cub (HACub): 0/infinite: young hyenas hold onto this title from birth to adolescence. it's what separates them from the rest of the Clan until they choose their role.

-- Caretaker (HACa): 0/8: hyenas who cannot fight or hunt, either from lack of skill, lack of interest, crippling injuries, or age, may become Caretakers. they primarily help mothers take care of cubs, and rank under the Shaman and his/her Nurses.

-- Elders (HAE): 0/infinite: hyenas too old to fight and hunt retire into elderhood. all members of the Clan see to their needs, but adolescents are primarily in charge of taking care of the oldies. Elders also make up "The Council", and may offer the Alphas advice when challenges arise.

-- Recruit (HAR): 0/infinite: not everyone is born into the Clan. since HA is always on the lookout for "strays" to take in, it isn't uncommon that an adolescent or adult from outside the Clan joins. these new hyenas are temporarily dubbed "Recruit" until they find their permanent place within the Clan.

I got a new laptop and installed FH on it, and it was working fine -- even faster than before...
But recently, my laptop was taken to my mother's friend who is an expert with computers and he gave me a bunch of neat programs, one consisting of an excellent anti-virus called AVG.

When I tried to open up my FH on the precious day of my laptop's return, it said there was a 4-point threat and I had to move it away. When I restarted my computer, my laptop notified me that it had removed it.
Butttttt I want to play FH. D: I keep trying to download it but I get this after I get to the actual download point...

It gives me this message that says it failed and that I either have to abort/retry/ignore.

Aborting would cancel the download, retry never works, and so I was forced to chose "ignore" annndd then it doesn't work and I just get some shoddy blank icon instead of the snazzy looking paw as a shortcut, and everytime I click that shortcut, whether it be from my desktop of from "search" on my start bar, it gives me messages about how the file cannot be found (as if it were moved or changed).

I miss FH. <33 Can someone help?

I would certainly use these. They're fantastic! 8D
