Cora lay on the cold ground of her den awaiting the return of her mother. She began to worry it had been about a half an hour since her parent left but she persisted in waiting for the fea to return. Suddenly her little ears perked to a familiar howl in the distance. ''Run little one! Run!.'' With that the dark pup got up abruptly and sprinted away as fast as she could. She returned when she felt it was safe only to find the dead body of her mother sprawled across the den floor. The pups eyes widened as tears began to run down her cheeks and she crawled underneath her mothers cold paw and snuggled close to her hoping for her parent to awake but, unfortunately, she did not...
