Game Discussion / Re: What's Your Favorite Species to Roleplay?
« on: February 17, 2016, 08:57:38 am »
I roleplayed humans back when Slenderman blogs were super popular. Now I favor feline types, but I'm up for just about anything.

Heh, I won't give you the full list, but I;

Am always F3-ing around.
Sit in the corners of maps and stare at the chat wistfully.
Am slow to respond if chatted with.

Game Discussion / Re: What was your saddest FH experience?
« on: March 02, 2015, 03:13:04 am »
I'm sad that so many people have had truly sad experiences on here. *hugs everyone* The worst I've had to deal with is losing my first FH friends to inactivity. One day they just logged off and never logged on again. I always worried that something bad happened to them, but they probably just got busy and didn't have time for FH anymore...

Game Help / Re: "FeralHeart.exe has stopped working." NO, REALLY?
« on: November 05, 2014, 05:20:09 am »
I had this problem constantly with every game on my Vista, and still have this problem with a lot of my games on Windows 8... If you haven't gotten FH to work yet, and you've tried what the others have suggested, then you could be having a DEP problem, aka Data Execution Prevention. To put it simply, DEP hates you, your games, and your computer programs overall. It will go out of its way to ensure you cannot play games and programs even though there's nothing wrong with them. It will also strike randomly on games and programs that worked just fine the day before. It's a broken feature that should have been done away with long ago.

...but anyways, what you want to do is open your Control Panel, go to System and Security, and then go to System. Then go to Advanced System Settings, then under the Performance tab (or Performance section, whatever, you might have to search the tabs for it, but it should be the only thing labeled Performance in the dialog box) click on Settings (or Performance Settings, not sure what it will be called in Windows 7).

After that another dialog box will pop up, and one of its tabs should say Data Execution Prevention. Click on it, and then make sure "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" is selected. Then go down and click "Add..." This will allow you to add Feral Heart as an exception to the dreaded DEP. Find FeralHeart.exe from the Open dialog box (It will be in your Feral Heart folder, obviously, so just find that, and it will be the only thing that shows up in the folder besides other empty folders and the uninstall application). After you add Feral Heart to the list, click "Ok" on the bottom of the dialog box to save your new setting.

If this doesn't end up working, then you will have harmed/changed absolutely nothing by adding Feral Heart to you DEP exception list. It will not effect gameplay, performance, or absolutely anything. But if you wish to remove Feral Heart from the DEP list just make sure that the box next to Feral Heart is the only box checked, them simply click Remove.

(If you can't find any of the tabs I talked about, or if things are labeled a lot differently, try here instead: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-xp/disable-turn-off-dep-windows/)

Game Help / Re: Constantly getting disconnected from map server?
« on: November 05, 2014, 04:40:29 am »
Ok, sorry for the wait, but I was attempting to find a proper solution online (and in vain) to your problem. Plus I was really hoping that a more computer/tech savvy person would come along, because this really seems like a hardware/software problem.

Four ideas: One, I recently found that I actually do have less lag and ect if I run FH with Direct3D9 instead of OpenGL. Have you tried switching between the two options? Maybe one will work better for you than the other. Also you could try running FH in compatibility mode. If it doesn't work, be sure to switch back out of compatibility mode.

Two, you could turn off AVG completely (right click on it in your task bar and hit Temporarily Disable AVG Protection, and I recommend choosing Until I Restart My Computer since 15 minutes may not be long enough for you to test this), and while it is off, try to run FH and see how it does. If not, also turn off your firewall if you are willing. I'm thinking AVG and/or your firewall is blocking an application extension that FH needs to run properly.

Three, try Latency Fix (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info13581-LeatrixLatencyFix.html) it helps when bigger games boot you from their severs, so maybe it will help with FH (download link on the top right corner of the page. I spent an embarrassingly long time looking for it 'cause I'm apparently blind). It's easy enough to uninstall if it doesn't work.

Four: If you still have problems, your ping might be outlandishly high. Explanation and directions for testing it here: http://www.ehow.com/how_5063917_ping-computer.html
and also here if you have a Mac, want more information, or want to ping the Feral Heart server directly, if you can find the server's IP address: http://www.livinginternet.com/i/ia_tools_ping.htm
and post the results when finished.

But whatever you do, do NOT attempt to uninstall and re-download the game right now, unless you want to download it via torrent. Apparently people are having a lot of trouble downloading it regularly right now.

Presets & Markings / Re: FlameSparky's little collection of markings
« on: November 04, 2014, 10:21:50 pm »
Nice markings! I had trouble figuring out how to get pictures onto my posts too.
To get pictures in your posts, go to tinypic .com and upload a picture. Afterwards, there should be multiple yellow bars with links in them. The IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards is the link that you want, and it will look something like  [IMG]http://i59. tinypic. com /et cetera. Just copy and paste that link into your post, and you'll have your picture. You have to upload each individual picture separately though. I've also heard that you can use deviantArt to get pictures into your posts, but I never use the site.

Game Discussion / Re: What size do you like your characters to be?
« on: November 04, 2014, 05:54:27 pm »
Well, your topic has made me realize that I've been making two main character sizes: short with normal length, and slightly taller than average with a longer length and a lean build. The only exception to this is my very tall maned wolf, who is still lean. The bulkiness of my characters varies by species, but tends towards the leaner side.

Game Discussion / Re: Your opinion on humans in FH?
« on: November 04, 2014, 05:12:46 pm »
I don't have anything against human role players, it's just not my cup of tea, per say. Mostly I'm just confused as to why people wish to play as humans on one of the only animal-based 3D MMORPGs around. You gotta admire their dedication when it comes to character designs though.
