Game Help / Re: ~Feral Heart Randomly Lagging and Water Turning White~
« on: January 16, 2015, 10:19:07 pm »
I had a Ubuntu computer and was trying to play it on that but it was way too slow. I recently got a new computer with Windows 7 and downloaded it just like any other download. I might've tried reinstalling it on Ubuntu, but this is the first time it downloaded on the new one. The start screen was EXTREMELY slow and took nearly forever to get my mouse to a certain point on Ubuntu. I am able to log in and play on Windows, but I don't remember reinstalling it.

I don't think this is supposed to happen, but I switched from DirectX to Open GL to test it out and it looked pixel-y (for both games), but when I did it for Feral Heart after I exited out of it and got back to the pre-settings screen, the option for DirectX is gone! My dad is a tech pro and said the new one was for gaming, and Wizard101 and WolfQuest play just fine with minor lags. I tried everything I could like lowering the graphics to the minimum I could and that probably helped a tiny bit.

Hey, I'm wondering if instead of a missing file, it didn't download correctly because if I'm swimming high enough, the water is clear like normal. This might also be similar to: http://lastmoon.org/forum/bugs-glitches/~game-crashes-when-loading-character~/new/#new

Game Help / ~Feral Heart Randomly Lagging and Water Turning White~

I recently got a new computer that supposedly has GREAT graphics, but I'm confused as to why Feral Heart is lagging. It sometimes did it in the high populated areas such as Bonfire Island and Fluorite Plains on my old one, so I don't think that's the problem. Also, how in the world can it load the water in the character creator smoothly, but the water turns white when go into it? To make the lagging stop for a little bit I have to look away from the ground. Sometimes it's smooth and sometimes it lags out of nowhere. I heard someone say something about alot of people downloading mass markings. Could this be the case? Please help.

FH runs smooth on any recent hardware in Ubuntu, even with "vanilla" Wine. Just make sure if you have drivers installed, and switch to OpenGL in FH settings.

Code: [Select]
glxinfo | grep renderer

How do I download it? I can't get OpenGL...

FeralHeart is a PC game and it's graphics and programing were made on PC computers. The reason it's all broken when you transferred it to Linux is because of that. FeralHeart runs on Windows the best, it wasn't made to be run on Linux computers, because Linux computers have a different function.

Since no one really attempted to run FeralHeart on Linux computers using transferring programs, we sadly can't help you. At least as far as I know.

Is there anyway I can "lower the detail"? Like with all the fancy leaves and stuff? Is there different modes like WolfQuest, where they had basic colors for slow computers?

I need help. I FINALLY got FH to work, but it's very slow and laggy. I haven't logged in yet, but I want to change the options first. The trees have no almost leaves, yet the water is reflective. How do I disable the reflective water? And is there a way to "lower" the graphics like WolfQuest? I really want to play because I haven't been on in a long time! I downloaded DirectX9 from PlayOnLinux, and that seems to be the missing piece. What do the other options mean, like "floating point mode" and "vsync"? I know Bonfire Island and Fluorite Plains are laggy because of the people, so there isn't much I can do about that. Also when it starts, there is either a white or black screen then it asks "Force Quit or Wait?" and I choose "Wait" then it takes some time to get up and running, then it lags while going in a circle around Fluorite Plains like it's supposed to at the log-in screen. It's difficult to hover my mouse around the screen. Also, the bushes are kind of black and flat. How do I change this? Can you help me? PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE?

Um, does it work on Ubuntu 13.10? Or do I need to update to 14.04?

Hey, wait a minute, does FeralHeart use Unity3D? I read somewhere that it does. Do you know the terminal commands for downloading it?

Actually, no, I can't login at all. It's at the very beginning (skipping the options menu), and it'll ask me if I want to force quit or wait. I installed GLUT to enable Open GL, and it gave me the options screen and I clicked OK and it crashed and now it's back to the way it was. I'll try to see if it might help, though.
