I have no idea how I found the special area on the FH website that has info about the controls/map making on the right sidebar, but it wasn't through the 'search' feature at all (that finds no relevant results) and was more through diving through random threads (I lost it after closing my FF session, still haven't found it again). There used to be a tutorial stickied in the Map part of the forum, but apparently it's gone for good?
When I did have the fancy control/map making sidebar up, I went through the height map tutorial, then went on to the terrain map tutorial (clicked link). The terrain map tutorial consists of the words 'terrain tutorial', and nothing else. I searched again, and no relevant results with that feature, just forum posts saying things like 'I've done the terrain tutorial now what?'.
I made a map a while back. I did not make a height map or terrain map, just flat, so those two are new to me. What wasn't new was the camera mode, which I had used to zoom far into the sky to get an 'overhead' view of my map, with my test character far below. This way I could tell how high something was, and how close it needed to get to the next object, etc. However, it seems I can't do this anymore. I've tried all four camera views, but I can only back away from my character a set distance- and in f4 camera mode I can't back out or zoom in at all. This results in my view being stuck on the ground (unless my map has absurdly high mountains steep enough to see over) and object placement being very difficult.
In summary: Why is it so hard to find the map making tutorial (both official and unofficial)? Why does the official map making tutorial have a huge missing section on terrain maps? How on earth do I get my camera to go up in the sky so I can see what I'm doing better?
