As he bid be long farewell, my shadowed gaze tied to the opposite end of the corridor, already the echoing sounds of hurried footsteps in my ears. My eyes shut closed, for the fear of what may come, and already at an end was my destiny. A door not so far from me slammed open, wood being splintered at the sheer thew of the man whom sought it. A cloak of white dwindled into the light, dappled rays seeming to turn the cloaked being invisible. A thought came to me, for which I spoke aloud, my voice laced with a dark hindering fear. "Who... are you..." The pondering that danced inside the topic irked me so, I dare open my eyes, knowing what to see. One single silver tendril flying straight, the still air inside the stone corridor never disrupting its flight. A flicker of my past entered my gaze, tears streaming down upon my red cheeks.
My destiny is through. My thoughts no longer dance within my heart, my mind is still as the cold ice that clenches it. The only thing I feel is pain that I failed to save all that was dear to me, the monster before me which threatened my homeland.
Going crosseyed as the tendril slowly came near, my pupils thinned as the inevitable revealed itself, the welcoming arms of death preparing to grasp me.
But it never came.
