Unfortunately I don't think there is an Ogre importing script for that version of Blender. I could give you my version of Blender 2.49 which has a working importer and exporter script, it's an older version but it works just fine. The interface is quite different as well and may take some time to get use to.
I will keep looking for a working importer script for your version of Blender though
