Tigon as a Speices

A short, tawny pelt; she had the faded markings of her tiger heritage and a mutated tail. Large ears are folded back from the hybridization as well. Lighter underbelly was often dulled as she was fond of laying in sand and dirt to keep cool. She had dark patches painting her eyes which naturally helped with her desert lifestyle. The spots on her ears were not very clear, unless one came closer, but the folds were obvious, as lion and tiger ears typically stand erect.

Malix was a Tiglon: A tiger/lion hybrid (also known as a tigon or liger, ligers being born of lion fathers and tiger mothers). Her mother was a lion and her father a tiger. Her mother was originally from a zoo, but was released into the wild, the zookeepers unaware she was soon to be pregnant. Her mother joined a pride and Malix was born soon after. A year, when the cub started to develop her clear, hybridized features (such as cub spots not vanishing and ears folding back) the pride abandoned the mother and mutant child. The pair managed to survive on the fringes of the desert, but her mother's death pushed the hybrid deeper into the sands.

Were she to ever breed, she can only carry 2 cubs per liter at a time. First Generation cubs have a 50% chance of being infertile. Roll a dice to determine at birth. First Generation cubs have a 50% chance of having faded markings.

Tigon Specs
Tigons do not reach the same impressive size as the liger. The size and appearance depends on which subspecies are bred together. The smaller size of the tigress compared to the lion means that some or all of the cubs may be stillborn or the cubs may be born prematurely [there isn't enough space in the womb for them to develop any further] and may not survive. Premature birth can lead to health problems in those that survive. Tigons are sometimes referred to as Tiglons. Tigons are very rare; only a few exist in the world. This is because it is much more difficult to get the male tiger to mate with the female lion. Tigons look similar to ligers. They have varying stripes and spots. Tigons are also orangish in color. Male offspring may have a mane, but will be very modest. They are able to produce both lion and tiger sounds when they roar. One difference between tigons and ligers is their size. Tigons are not nearly as large as ligers. The lifespan of tigons, as well as other hybrid animals, is shorter than a normal species. The animals seem prone to cancers and other illness. History

She lived with her mother for as long as she could remember, abandoned by the pride when she reached a year. She lived in the desert until her mothers death and survived on her own since. She has tried joining other prides but they would immediately chase her away when other members would accept her, leaving her confused and untrusting of others. Fearless around hyena, seeing as her jaw force could match their own with her strength. Has grown to be a loner, but not out of choice. She learned many things in her travels and uses them today.

Her mother was captured in the wild. As a Masai Lion she was placed under study. She had been impregnated by a male tiger originally thought to be sterile as he had been a former victim of medical experiments and placed with Mpole, Shetani's mother, as a companion. When released back into the wild with a radio collar, she would give birth to Shetani several months later.

Very intricate Bio you've created there Shetani. I like it. Plus the fact your character design is beautiful as well. I've honestly never known anything about a Tigon, nor heard of it, until I read your Bio so you could say I also learned something while reading your post too.
