Climbable Trees?
« on: July 11, 2013, 08:42:40 am »
I was thinking it would be really cool if there were big thick trees that had branches you can walk on. Is there anything like that that exists? If not, could someone make it? It would be a really nice addition to my map. ^_^ Thanks for taking the time!

If I get what you're trying to say correctly, you want a tree you can walk on. A lot of trees let you do that, but you'll need to change them to 'Own Collision' in Object maker. Then just make them as big as you like ;)

Well I knew you could stand on the "standable" Acacia tree, but it won't let you walk on the branches. I don't know what 'own collision' means, but I'll look out for it.

Edit: Okay, I don't really understand what you mean... I saw a box that said 'show collision' but it didn't seem to change anything besides that the yellow stuff didn't disappear in testing mode.

Ok, let me break it down:

1) Go to the 'Object Maker' tab under 'Tools'
2) Load the tree you want to make 'climbable'
3) Go under the tab named 'Mesh' and check the box labeled 'own collision'
4) Delete the main yellow collision
5) Test it. You should not be able to run through the tree, or fall through the branches/leaves
6) I recommend saving it as a new object instead of overwriting the one you loaded

See if this helps any ^u^

What I suggest is getting a person to make you two different meshes, oe of the tree and the other of the leaves.
Afte that you just have to combine the tree with the leaves and only make the leaves have their own collisions.
This is a bit harder, but at least now you don't get stuck on leaves!

I accidentally changed the collision of the acacia trees and saved them as one object...then exported a map without knowing. Now my character's butt shall forever stay on the ground instead of in the trees of Flourite v.v (Those leaves annoy me so much D:< )
