Area Standard Slang
Okay, so. You know that there are some slang phrases in feral-heart already if you're a seasoned roleplayer. Yeah yeah yeah, get to the point. Here I'll post some of my proposed slang. Ahahah, yes yes yes. So, I propose there be "area standard" phrases, and the way these'd go is that, say... Someone were to advertise, say, for "BrackenClan." They'd say something along the line of, "BrackenClan - Literate, realisti--" Sorry to interrupt this ad, but "Literate/Realistic" would be "FP-standard." But what about those advertising for mapped groups from Fluorite? Most of those are mapped, too. That would be "MapR standard." MapR? What? MapR means "Map Realistic," if you were wondering. But what about Species roleplays? Semi-realistic through Semi-Unrealistic--Oops, that's more slang. I'll talk about that later. Those would likely "FP-S standard" or "Map-S standard," meaning "Area-Semi" to account for the realism level. But what about Ficho? The literacy and fanbase levels don't match up depending on where and what you are. So, rather than Ficho area standard, this brings me to Fanbase Standard.
Fanbase Standard
So, as I was saying. Wait, where'd I put that point? Oh yeah, here it is. Fanbase Standard. So, I'm a raging Pokemon fanatic. Let's call this standard "Poke-Standard." Literate, and Semi-Unrealistic to Realistic. Oops, there goes the slang again. But I'll talk about that part later. Then there's stuff like Homestuck-standard and Hetalia-Standard. These fanbases I am not in, but I see most Homestucks not at the tip-top levels of the scale. Other than that, I'll let you guys contemplate those. But what about the upper Ficho? This area mostly follows CP-standard, SO-standard, etc. And then there's Lagfire-standardians flopping around here. Those would actually be LagTunnelians, actually. And then actual Lagfirians. Lagfire standards are basically around Sparkle for the TLKians and the Centers, creating the Center and TLK-standards. Then Human-standard and Horse-standard, and others. It's like Ficho standards, times 9001. Eh heh heh. Most Capefolk who roleplay there are Semi-Lit and Semi-Unrealistic through Sparkle. Gosh darn it, there I go again. And a lot of them aren't english-speakers from what I hear running from Lonely to Fluorite or a map. Yatta ya. Set the standards of your fanbases, and then post a reply here. Well, on to the next thing.
Sparkle and Semi-Unrealistic
So, yeah. If you've been listening, which you may not have--Okay, okay, I'll get to the point. If you've been browsing group ads, you'll often see a Realism Tag. What those are is the level of realism for the group, and you've most likely seen Semi-Realistic and Realistic most often. I propose that we give an overhaul to this slang, and make it better. How?
Sparkle > Semi-Unrealistic > Semi-Realistic > Realistic
That is the kind of thing I want to have going on. The difference between Semi Unreal and Semi Real? Unreals are more sparkly, but not in the Sparkle level. So pastel pinks, yellows, green, iridescence... Etc. But not a true sparkle. I think you can understand Sparkle, what with all the centers.
"Magic" Level
Now, this is something that some groups have. An example I recall is a couple of wolves hanging around the Unchained camp, and me and a couple others confronted the alpha. Apparently we crossed her in the bad way, and her eyes... Started glowing and a fog appeared. Magic. Now, I propose there be "magic" taggings. FP-standard groups would have a low magic level.
Ordinary > Semi-Ordinary > Semi-Magical > Magical > Oh my god, PPer.
That kind of thing. Blah blah.
Unrealisticity of Roleplaying and Environment
Now, this is mostly directed towards forum roleplays, and could very well be merged with magic-- But no, it needs a separate tagging into group standards. What this means is how unrealistic the roleplaying environment is compared to the amount of different species that shouldn't be mingling. So let's take my group, :~The Ones Who Crawl~: as an example. The unrealisticity level there for animal mingling is horribly inaccurate. Komodos combined with newts and poison dart frogs with Nile crocodiles would be impossible in real life. And while Xex is the only character at all in the group, just face it. That would be terribly weird. But in Unchained, they take it to a North America/Canada setting and let dogs, foxes, and coyotes in the group alongside wolves. The temperament of them towards one another is inaccurate, sure, but the mingling aspect is fine. And I apologize to Stray if he feels that this should not be mentioned openly.
Wolfspeak. (Le sigh.[Anyone mad yet?{LOL brackets}])
To anyone who wolfspeaks... I'm truly sorry. But these are my opinions.
Wolfspeakers are far from fully literate. Just let that sink in. Okay, go. If you've heard a wolfspeaker and are not one, and you know that it's just jargon, a wolfspeaker's posts could grind your ears to a pulp given that they cram enough, as said before, JARGON into their posts. I find that it'd be helpful if people would put "wolfspeaking" into group ads. And if you haven't heard wolfspeak, let me just... Hang on.
[The fae's optics scanned the terra as she pawed through the woods. Her auds picked up a noise. A brujo leapt out, landing upon her platform and sending her teetering down, pillars shattering and banners up. Her daggers sank into his carcass as he bit at her boa.]
That hurt, didn't it? But to a wolfspeaker, it sounds like music to their ears. The fact that they think it's fully literate and that anyone who DOESN'T use it is an illiterate bothers me. I'll touch on the horrible terms that are Literate and Illiterate next, guys. But anyways. With a slim shield of gorgeous music protecting me from a horrible raging outburst, I say this. Whether your group runs on wolfspeak or actively pushes it away should have that in the group ad.
Fixing of the "Literacy Levels"
So, if you've heard me rage about wolfspeakers before, you'll know that I consider Wolfspeak more or less "illiterate." We need to fix that term...
What Literate Means - "Able to read or write"
What it DOESN'T mean - "Roleplays book-style"
Book-style? Wuzzat? Well, that brings me to this LOVELY little totem that needs ironing out.
Instagram-style Roleplay > Improved Instragram Roleplay > Almost book-style > Book-style > Oh my god, when will your post end, dude?(a.k.a. Chapterers)
Wolfspeakers are on a separate totem.
Wolfquester > A bit better > Almost Books of Wolfspeak > Books o' Wolfspeak > THE SUFFERING WILL NEVER END, WILL IT?!
This is how most people who hate wolfspeak would perceive this. To the wolfspeakers:
Wolfquest > Getting better > Brilliant, just needs more > Sweet. Fully literate. > I know your posts are good, man, but when are you gonna stop?
I hate the Wolfspeak Totem, just my own opinion. And you have to respect that. And you should also respect my preferences about Wolfspeak-- Minimize it. Yatta ya.
Another way to put the Standard Roleplay totem is this....
Beginner > Amateur > Novice > Expert > Master
You can see how well it seems to line up if you've read Hugrf's post about their feels on literacy, then reading MochaCocoa's reply.
Here, have some ads for groups that don't actually exist to my knowledge.
:BrackenClan:
Literate, Realistic, sited, and mapless. Whisper HomerRules to join!
Notice how short and... Bad that ad sounds.
:Shimmering Seas: NW
FP-standard dolphin group with NO WOLFSPEAK! Sited, mapless, and semi-magical, we accept novices and masters of roleplay alike-- Whisper AstraLupe to join. Splash in the sea with me, a dolphin I be.
An improvement, eh? Which is more enticing, the dolphin pod or the wolfspeaking kitty clan? I'd pick the dolphins too.
More slang later.
