I have tried everything. Please help.(Solved. Thank you!)
« on: June 19, 2014, 03:08:46 am »
I'm sorry I have to ask about this. It's the "Failed to connect to front server" message again. I have tried everything I could find. I have let the game past the firewall, I've re downloaded it, I have let it past my security, I've checked other websites for information on it, and asked a few of my friends. The server seems to be working. I don't know what to do.
I used to play this game on this same computer a year ago, but the game was deleted when the computer crashed. I loved the game and waited this whole week, checking for open registration, until I could make a new account a few days ago. I type my username and password correctly and I don't use the num pad.
I had this problem a year ago when I first got the game, but I don't remember how I fixed it. I think all I had to do then was remove the firewall. But that isn't working this time.
I have tried everything I could find or think of. I really want to play FeralHeart again. Please help.

Sorry to hear you are having this trouble. Have you tried all of this?:

You could try uninstalling the game again but make sure you delete the Feral Heart folder before reinstalling. (Be sure to back up your important files like presets etc). If that doesn't work refer to the info below.

Failed to connect to front server is another funky message you might get. Most of the time you get this either when your internet is down or the server is down completely. It can also be that your firewall or any other security software is preventing FeralHeart from accessing the internet. If it's the server and not your internet it should be sorted shortly and be back up and running, if it will be down for longer times the staff will let you know.

If the server is up though for a longer time, and you're still having issues to connect, you should follow the tips mentioned in the post "Unable to log on/go online" (posted below) and if that fails to work. Contact those responsible for your internet or maybe someone that knows more and are able to help you.

Is the computer allowing FeralHeart to connect to the internet?
Games like these needs to be able to connect to the internet, but sometimes windows doesn't know if the game/application can be trusted or it just skips adding the game to exceptions. If you aren't able to log on the game, this might be your issue.

Open up your control panel located in the start menu. Depending on which Operating system you use, and which layout it might look differently. But Windows firewall should be in the category "security" or just find the text "Windows firewall" or "Allow a program through windows firewall". This should take you to the correct place.

Once there you'll get a new window with a list of programs. Try to locate FeralHeart.exe in there and add it to exceptions by marking the checkbox. If you can't find it, and the game to the list by yourself by pressing add program.

If you don't understand how to do this still, ask someone else to do this for you.

Sometimes there might be something else blocking the program from accessing the internet. A good example of these are some Antivirus programs. This can vary a lot as well. But check up if by any chance your virus program might be blocking feralheart. And just not only by clicking the icon in the corner sayings "Nope!". Look in the advanced menus and preferences first. Only you can check this.

How's your internet connection?
Sometimes the internet connection of the users trying to play the game might be weak. This can cause you to not being able to connect or staying online for a longer time, many people might start blaming the game or server for this when it in fact might be themselves.

Here's a few things you can check:
1. Are you even connected to the internet right now?
2. Are you running any downloading/streaming programs?
3. Are there any other computers/devices using the same internet?
4. Are you currently using a wireless connection, if so, are you getting good signal?

Sometimes the internet connection can time out for various reasons and then jump back on again, so be sure to try a few times first.

Programs in the background
Downloading things or running streaming programs eats your bandwidth, and this bandwidth is needed in order to play the game, especially if you're using slower speeds. You can start by shutting off things like downloading programs and internet browsers. Maybe even IM programs such as MSN and AIM and try to play again.

Turn off extra devices
If you got more than 1 computer or other devices also using the internet, try turning them off if they're not in use. This will give you more bandwidth to spare.

On a wireless connection?

If you're using a laptop you might be using a wireless internet connection. These can sometimes loose their signal to the internet source. So try placing yourself closer to your modem, this might give you a stronger signal.

These things should solve the most connection problems!

Goodluck I really hope something here helps

Hmm, it does sound like your firewall is blocking the game although you said it didn't work, try going under allowed programs and putting FeralHeart there then retrying to connect after re-running the game.

Or, try disconnecting from your internet then reconnecting and trying again. Sometimes its the internet itself being a derp, but if this dosnt help, check below~

Uninstall the game and delete the folder, then reinstall, make sure to back up any maps, presets, mods, and items you have installed before doing so.

I hope this works!

Quotes from a thread maded from a player with the same problem and it's resolved. Hope this works.

I just had a look at my log, and it seems my firewall's blocking a packet marked as "UDP" i'm not sure if this might be the problem? or just some spam packet trying to get through my firewall? I've actually tried troubleshooting my network and there where a few problems which are now resolved.... except feral heart won't connect still, so i'm thinking it may be the UDP packet it needs? If so, i'm not exactly sure how to go about allowing it >.<
It turns out all I needed to do was hunt about a bit and accept a few things XD thank you all very much for helping me, I really apreciate it <3

How to allow FeralHeart trough your firewall:
1. Hit the Start button on the lefthand lower corner of your computer screen. Type in the search bar, "Windows Firewall". Find what should say "Windows Firewall with Advanced Settings/Secruty", click on it.
2. Click on "Inbound on the left side. Click on "New Rule"on the righthand side
3. Select "Program" then "Next". Enter the path to your FH game.exe file. You will have to look for it on your computer it is what you use to get the feral heart game to start. It is called feralheart.exe. The easiest way to find this is to right-click on your Feral Heart shortcut on your desktop. Then go to "Properties", then copy the file location show under "Target". Make sure you remove the quotation marks from the file location.
4. Hit "Next"and then select "Allow Connection"and then "Next".
5. Okay, you finished the inbound one, now you need to make an "Outbound rule the very same way.
6. On the lefthand side, click on "Outbound" and then on the righthand side, click "New Rule" and repeat the same steps for it.

This is a guide that I founded in the description of one youtube video. It wasn't available to copy the description so I typed it. I think I don't have any mistakes.

Another problem I have heard of is that you should NOT download Fh from google chrome. It will not allow you to connect. If you did, just reinstall from a different search engine such as safari/ the Internet.
