Can't play, wont let me

I'm a returning player, and i re-downloaded the game. But when i click to login and play, it will never load up. All i get every time, is that it failed to connect. I don't get any closer to being able to get in at all.
What can i do to fix this?

Make sure you are signed into the "Play Game" tab located here. Make sure it is up and running in the background and that you don't minimize the window.

Also i've been trying to make a terrain so i can make a map. Anything and everything i try, when i go to load it in game, it crashes the game every time.. 0-0

For heightmap terrains make sure the image is:
-513x513
-Grayscale
-Flattened with NO Alpha channel
-.png or .jpg, either format works


As for your connecting problems, make sure you have a strong Internet connection, check your firewall or antivirus and make sure neither are blocking FH from connecting, and do as Arctic said above. A tab refresher is recommended, http://refreshthis.com being one of them (to use that specific tab refresher, log into the "Play Game" tab and then copy the url of the page you see afterward that appears after you're successfully logged, paste the url into the url box on refreshthis's page, set for every 25 seconds and start). Do not minimize your browser, and many users including myself recommend you use Chrome or Firefox to run the tab. Log into the tab first, set up refreshthis or whatever you prefer, and wait a minute or two before actually starting up FH, this way the server will have time to connect to you.

As an extra note, if you're new to the update, make sure your characters' homes are reset and that they are sent there, so that they will respawn in the new Lonely Cave and not any of the old maps. You can do so by logging into here.
