Can't save a preset file as JPG
« on: March 16, 2017, 11:21:43 am »
I'm trying to make a preset, but Gimp won't let me save the files as JPG, it gives me the message; 'The given filename cannot be used for saving' and it tells me to use the file format XCF. ;_;

This is more of a help thread than an introduction thread, though I am sorry to hear you're having issues.

Exporting on Gimp gave me trouble a few times, so just in case-
The few times I made a preset with Gimp and it gave me that error, I just went to the folder where it was saved, and slowly double clicked, as to where I could change its name. Then instead of changing it's name, I manually changed the file type. It gave a quick "This may render the file unusable" message, but I clicked yes anyway. It worked for me. And if it doesn't, you can always just repeat the process to change it back to the previous file type.

In the newer versions of G.I.M.P. you generally have to export with .jpg or whatever format you wanted on the end or it'll save as XCF by default.
The Japanese concept of wabisabi:
The closest concept in english would be 'rustic'
They might have an old thing, one example is a favourite bowl or dish, it's broken, pieces are missing, why fix it?  With gold and pieces from other dishes?
"Because it was my favourite & I like it"
