Map Crashing Game
« on: April 15, 2017, 12:23:22 am »
I already contacted the map maker and they have no idea what the issue could be about this, and advised I come here. I downloaded this map, Valdtol, and it has three maps to the pack. Two of the three work, but the third one for some reason ALWAYS crashes my entire game with the "feralheart.exe has stopped working" thing. I tried changing the rendering system, I checked the particles folder, I just don't know what's up and neither does the creator because they're not receiving complaints from anyone else.

Make sure you haven't misplaced any of the files from that particular map by putting it in the wrong folder, or you've actually moved the files correctly altogether. If there's a Notepad file in the downloaded map I would pay a visit there and double check you've done everything correctly and have followed their tutorial completely.

I place everything correctly, the download even puts everything in labeled folders that tell me where to put it's contents, if that makes sense.

It could simply be that the map is big and/or very detailed and your computer is struggling to run it properly, thus crashing the game. A few things that could help would be to lower view distance, turn off water reflection, or even turning off nametags before entering the map. Try using a character that doesn't have items or a preset

Two of the three maps work, and the one is the main map thus is the big one. I already have view distance at zero and water reflection off. The game crashes almost immediately after I enter the portal to go into the map, I never even get to enter it for a second. It's weird.

You should note that custom maps can have issues like this when custom maps have other maps connected to it. I would suggest re-installing the map, or asking the creator to provide you with a .fhm of the map you're trying to get into so you can enter it directly from Cape of Distant Worlds. Sometimes it's a good idea if custom map makers (who have created maps with other maps connected to it) update their maps every once in a while, to prevent this. It's like this, in recent events, people weren't able to enter Cherika Valley or Eastern Pass because they were bugging out and no one could connect to or enter those two particular maps. So, Raz had to do a server restart to resolve this issue, and this has happened in the past. Not with the same maps, but you understand I'm sure. I hope this provides better reasoning to what may be going on, and I hope my suggestions do you well.
