Alphas
Alphas are the leaders of the group and hold the most power. They are able to decide territories and they are able to schedule pack events. Alphas are responsible for the wellbeing and nourishment of the group. They look out for pups and they schedule Apprenticeships and Initiations. Alphas usually consist of the dominant matriarch or patriarch of the pack. Alphas also put together hunting and scouting parties. Without alphas, a group would fall into chaos.
Betas
Betas are usually the alpha's mate(s) or pup. A pack usually has 2 betas, but if an alpha has more mates the number can increase. Betas are next-in-line to alphas, meaning that if an alpha were to die or retire a beta would quickly take their place. A beta's position is given rather than earned, so only certain people can be betas. Betas can do the same things alphas can and will usually do them if the alpha is off doing something.
Deputies
Deputies are the alpha's pups or pup. Most deputies will stay deputies unless an alpha decides to give one of their pups more authority, in which a beta rank can be negotiated.
