Map Making Question!
« on: May 27, 2018, 07:41:00 am »
Hello everyone! So, I'm in the process of making a private map for my new group, The Children of Sithis [literate map based around Skyrim] and while I was creating one of the submaps, I was curious about if it's possible or not to have a moon cycle so like, one day [in FH] the moon is full, the next it's like, half, and the next, it's blood red rather than white. Is that possible? Can it be done? Let me know!

Sure, it can be done. I'm thinking you'll need to have different texture files for the moon phases/colors, so one for the full moon, one for the gibbous, one for the waxing, and so on so forth. Not to mention that you'll also need to have the left and right sides as separate textures for all but the new and full moon phases.

There's a mod that was made by Phloxenfree which actually implements moon phases as well, so it might be a good base of inspiration. Check the material file in the download to see how long you'd have to set each phase to last.

Good luck!

Using that old mod' Basically you'd rename the moon phase picture files an tinker with the materials to fit, and give a material name for your map instead so it dind't conflict with others. But yeah it' be a nice touch you don't see used in maps often.
The Japanese concept of wabisabi:
The closest concept in english would be 'rustic'
They might have an old thing, one example is a favourite bowl or dish, it's broken, pieces are missing, why fix it?  With gold and pieces from other dishes?
"Because it was my favourite & I like it"
