GIMP-> "Unknown File Type"

Hello. C: I'm pretty new to the whole Feral Heart scene, but I'd kinda like to try my hand at making some maps.
However, when I try to upload my .map file on GIMP, it gives me an error message saying that the file is an "Unknown file type."

I've searched a few threads on this forum, but without much luck. P:

Hrm...if you look at the link I've just given you...it may help you with your map problem.

Edit:Whatever your heightmap is named...it should be saved as .png
So basically something loke this for example.

Ex: CookiesTerrain.png is the correct format  that shoul be added to the Height Terrain Map section on map maker...hopefully the link helps:)

You don't open the .map file with GIMP Follow Panda's link.
