my controls aren't working....

my controls don't seem to work in the game. I use to be able to turn with the camera view but now i can't and I asked a friend what to do all she said was close out of the game and leave it for awhile... i did that and it still doesn't work. I really don't know if this is a problem I've only been playing for a day... so any advice on this would help.

p.s. I looked at the control manual yesterday so I know that the "d" and "a" keys turn my character.
