Crashing game.
« on: April 26, 2012, 02:25:50 pm »
Right, I've had this problem for a really long time now, sometimes it disappeares in a magical way, but then it's there again as quick as it was gone.
Anyway, the title explains it: My game keeps crashing. It crashes at random times - when it's quiet, just after a few seconds of playing, after hours of playing, right after selecting my character etc. I keep getting these "FeralHeart has stopped working. Blah blah blah" messages.
I already completely deleted my game, re-downloaded and re-installed it several times, but it just won't help.

I already checked if some of the particle files might have doubled themselves, as this happens often for these files for me, but it was all normal. And I'm also sure that it can't be my computer, as it's a quite new one and I have all other tasks closed.
Anyone got some suggestions what to do?

Is it crashing when you enter certain maps or just randomly? This may sound dumb, but also check your sounds folder. I know at one point if I went into public maps, I'd randomly crash. Turned out I was missing the roar and howl sound files. So that's a possibility.

Depending on your location of crashing will determine what's wrong with your game.

Are you crashing more when you try to type in the chat? If that is what is happening I had the same problem. I keep crashing while in the middle of a Role Play. What it was I had my keyboard language keys set up where i could type in different languages if I wanted to and that is what was crashing me. I went in my computer settings and turned off all but English language. After I turned that off I stooped crashing all the time. Go and try that see if that works for you. If you do not know how to test this hit the alt+shift key on your keyboard while looking near where your time shows on your computer. If it changes you have more then one language set up for your computer. Turn it off and see if that fixes it.

@CloudFish: It's crashing at random locations, but I have the most problems in Flourite Plains. And I checked my "Sounds" folder, everything's there.

@Tailzthefox: It seems like my game is crashing when I DON'T type or move around that much, but it also crashes when I do. It's just at random times.

Sounds like it's not really a problem with your game, as much as it is your computer not being able to handle it at all times, or the server not cooperating.

You can try setting your view distance to minimum, and turning off your water reflection in heavily populated maps.

I also recommend trying the other rendering subsystem from the one you're currently using, you might have better luck on it.

I'm having a similar problem, only that when I try to log as a character, BOOM game crash. It started yesterday and now I've un installed and re installed countless times! It's frustrating.
