Terrain height map crashing my game!
« on: February 16, 2013, 05:52:20 pm »
I'm trying to upload my terrain height map on my one map. I've already made one map but when i try to put my new terrain height map on the new map that im making, a block pops up saying feralheart.exe has stopped working.

I've checked to see if it had more then one layer, if it's a greyscale, and if it's saved into a PNG format which it is I can't figure out whats wrong with it and now I can't make anymore maps because of it. Is there  way to fix it?

I'm not very experienced with map making but have you checked out this post?:
http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=1391.0
Also make sure the images are flattened.
I hope something there helps. Good luck :)

Side note: since I don't make maps I'm not sure if you can have double particles at this point but try checking your "Particles" folder and delete any double particles. They'd have endings like _0 or _1 etc

Is this your first time you make something like that? Was the picture size right (513 and 513)?
If you entered the name did you leave those tree letters after the name .png (I don't remember well was it png or something else)
shhh noone knows me

It either sounds like a image size file error, or you forgot to flatten/merge layers after you were done creating the map.

I don't know what program you used to create the file, but if you created the map with multiple layers, it HAS to be one layer ONLY. Have one saved as the program's editing file, and another saved as a .png. This way you can test a map and easily go back and edit it if anything appears out of place.
Try to make sure that the Alpha layers are off as well (google that too, depends on your program), and that the actual mode is in grayscale (again, google :I ).

Also try looking at the Manual here on FH, in the Map Maker section (Click!):
Height Maps
Terrain Masks
Getting a Map In-Game

Hope this helps!
