How to use objects in folders in map maker?
« on: July 01, 2013, 03:36:34 pm »
Hey everybody. I'm new and there are a couple things about map maker I can't figure out on my own. The first is, why aren't all the objects that are in the folders appearing in map maker? In the C:/FeralHearts/media/objects folder, there are a bunch of folders with various objects, but all of these don't show up in the game. Only like four for each category of .objects files. For example, in the grass folder, there is long grass and shrooms, but these aren't anywhere in my game. And in the misc folder, there is a waterfall, but I don't have any option for that in my game either.
The second thing I'm not sure of is how do I save my maps? Once I save them in game I can't find a file for it in my computer, and since I had to uninstall and reinstall, the map that I made has to be done over. Thanks in advance for anyone who helps.

Not all of the objects Feralheart uses is available for map makers. (Keep in mind, I tweak my feralheart a lot with mods and what not, so it's possible you won't have the same things that I mention as objects). In the misc folder, there /is/ a waterfall. A way to get that waterfall is going into Object maker. If you click Mesh and place the Mesh and Material in there, (For this case, you'd type waterfall.material and waterfall1.mesh) a waterfall will appear (After you click add new). Once that is available, go back to objects and save it -- be sure to make a new group for it, however. Don't save it under an already existing feralheart group (It can be a mess).

When you save your maps in feralheart, just click save. You should be able to load it back up. If you'd like to export them for others to view, then be sure to gather all of the files listed and put them in a collective folder in a download for others to also use. However, now that I re-read your question I find that... my answer wasn't to the right question (Shh, I can be slow). If you go into Media>Terrains you'll find your maps. If you're ever to uninstall feralheart but want to keep your maps, the easiest way to do that is to just save the terrains folder.

Hope that can help <3!
