Presets are hard [Help???]
« on: July 30, 2013, 12:30:53 am »
So
I guess my main problem is that I don't really know what I'm doing. //dies

But
I know my way around this stuff and I'm too stubborn to follow a tutorial until I mess everything up--

But I coloured everything and edited the material file in the folder to fit the images. (May I say these images took like 5ever and this is rlly frustrating because they won't work.)

And the preset won't show up in the Preset Maker thing. Like.
It's just black and yellow.

I do not wish to be a bee game.

Buzzzzzz.

But in all serious uh
Help???

1. Are the images name Preset_<insertnumberhere>body (or whatever part like head, tail, etc)
2. What is the material code? Do they end in png or jpg?
3. What type of image files are the images for the preset?

Uhuhuh
1. Yeah.
2. Uh like
"material preset_9_bodyMatL
{
   technique
   {
      pass
      {
         texture_unit
         {
            texture preset8_body.jpeg"?
They all end in jpeg.

3. They're all jpg/jpegs. Except for the mane, though I wasn't really sure if I was supposed to throw that in or not.

Perhaps instead of jpeg put jpg? I don't see much wrong.

That...Worked omg. Weird.
Except the eyes, they're still bees. I may have not changed it to jpg, may have missed it.

And now I'm laughing really hard because of how wonky this preset looks omg

Also, do you know how to make textures work with preset? Like so they don't look all flat and nasty.

There should be a file labeled f/c<insertbodyparthere>shade, or something along those lines, under the Textures folder. Layer it onto your preset color pages c:

There's another way then what Warrior said above. If you use gimp, open up the texture (with the main preset up already, of course), and add a new layer to your preset. Switching over to the texture, click on select all, then copy. Go back to the new layer of your preset, and click on paste. Then go and click on multiply. That should work.
Farewell everyone<3

Oh, thanks! That worked. The preset looks a lot better now that I re-did it all and added the textures uvu
