Yes, I do know how to put an avatar on my profile.
And yes, I have had one before.
But when I went to put one on today, it wont let me.
It says it's uploaded, but then it just shows it as a cross in a box...

Please help. ;-;

You can upload stuff from Tinypic.com It have a area where it says 'Deault' (Think that's what's it called). So you click it, it would say 'Avatar 100x100'. Click it. After you put the code, it would give options, but make sure you choose 'Direct Link'. Copy it. Then go to your proflie and paste where it says 'My own'. Then ta-da you got it. :3 (Hope this isn't confusing)
