URGENT map question! Map randomly crashed.
« on: July 05, 2014, 10:13:53 pm »
I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, but it's pretty urgent.
I had just finished a map for my RP. It was working just fine when I tested it, I had saved it before hand, decided to add a last minute mesh, saved, and left for the night so I could test it in the morning.
When I started up the map maker this morning, it instantly crashed. I wasn't able to open the file at all.
I tried deleting the mesh from my objects to see if that would work. Nothing. I couldn't access any other map that didn't even have the mesh, either.
So, I decided to save my objects, files, etc. to different files on my desktop so I could go ahead and add them in, and I redownloaded FH completely.
Added in my mass markings, replaced the files that I needed, textures, objects, etc.
Still crashing. I can't get into the map at all.
Help? I have no idea how to fix this. I don't want to lose this map, it's my first one, and I've been working for days on it. :c

Movin' this thread to the Game Help child board.

As for yer problem, is yer entire game crashin' or just yer map maker? For now, I'll assume it's just yer map maker.

1. Try re-sizin' yer map to a smaller size. 513 x 513 for example. Also make sure it's greyscale.
2. Go to the folder Local Disk (C:) > FeralHeart > Media > Particles ]n delete any duplicates that may be listed there (files endin' in _0, _1, _2, etc) and in the folders My_Objects and Exports too.
3. If they greyscale and/or meshes are very complex, they can sometimes cause yer game to crash. It's good to keep this in mind whenever ye' make a map of any kind.

Also take a look at these for it may be the height map that's causin' ye' to crash.

Methinks I've labelled most of what could be the problem. Hopefully somethin' I've listed will come to aid.
