Lagging...?
« on: September 28, 2014, 04:15:23 pm »
I know everybody's game lags at some point in time, and I understand that. But I've never had a problem with it in places like FP, or even really crowded places.

My problem is this:
My laptop's about five years old and the battery is terrible. I was editing one of my characters and it shut down on me. But when I started my laptop back up and opened FH, it was like my game got hit with this HUGE wave of lag. I've restarted/shut down my computer multiple times, but that doesn't seem to help anything. My internet connection is fine.

So, long story short: Is re-downloading my only option?

Lagging is quite an issue for many. However re-downloading is kind of a last resort. There are some quick fixers to lagging problems. Click ESC and click options. Then in the first tab scroll down until you find 'Water Reflection'. Click on that and turn it off. Then go all the way down to 'viewing distance' and turn that bar to the lowest possible.
Those are some quick and easy ways to help with lag. Of course it doesn't make it GO AWAY all together. It just makes it easier to manage. Hope I helped a little. Feel free to ask any questions if you're still having trouble :3

I've turned off the water reflection. My only problem with re-downloading is having to do all the marking stuff again, so I was kind of hoping I wouldn't have to xD
But I don't see any other options. Thank you though ^^;

Another option you have would be to fix around some video settings so it isn't as demanding for your computer. Just go to the options menu in game. Changing Rendering Systems is a magical fixer. So just change it around and see what works best for you. You can also go to Video Mode and lower the amount of pixels on the screen. That makes things less sharp- but less demanding for your computer.
Glad I could help though!

FH suffers what I call "Badgameitis" where the game runs like crap on PC. The game isn't optimised for multi-core computers and uses 100% of a core at any given time. The best thing you can do is turn down your settings and run the game on another core if your computer has more than 1 which it probably does unless its from the 90's or something.

Look at this guide for how to do that: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-set-processor-affinity-to-an-application-in-windows/

In the options tab there is a Video tab.

There you'll find the Video Mode.
Changes the resolution = How many pixels that will be rendered on the screen. The higher the value, the more sharper things will look, but it will also be more demanding for your computer.

Also refer to Kwibjo's post <3
