So here's the deal, in any of them computer games if there is color that means there's a solid physical object but if it's transparent, that means there's nothing, like the colored walls in the Pacman maze.
What's so difficult about height maps is that it's in a 3-dimensional space and that height means you'll have to use layers for each time you add height to something. Basically, if you want to create a height map, that means you'll have to make a new layer for each height by the measure of pixels, like stacking sheets of cut out papers!
This is why it takes such a long while to make maps, especially the ones with high terrain like mountains.
I can't figure out why but everyone's completely marshmellowed! Is it some sort of trend?
