Unale to add item

no matter what I do,the item will not appear in the list.I even made a new folder for it and made sure there were no spaces

Did you add it to the list of items in the items.cfg? Should look something like this:

[Item]
mesh=item.mesh
material=itemMat
bone=botlip
offset_f=0 0 0
rotation_f=0 0 0
offset_c=0 0 0
rotation_c=0 0 0
