The only sign that showed Karma acknowledged Kali's call was the fact that her ears pinned backwards slightly and her expression became harder than usual. Dusk cast a glance backwards at the forms of the enemy, a harsh glint flashing in his eyes, but he didn't say anything. Instead, his ears flicked to the sound of their names being called, and shifting his head slightly he saw the form of the white wolf, Lorcan, approaching them.
"There you are," Dusk slowed his pace so the wolf could catch up. "We were about to look for you. We haven't found Sidon yet, how bad are your wounds?"
Then Karma came to a stop to glance behind her as she heard the talk between the three wolves. With a flash of her eyes, she turned around and walked back to face Vanth, expression remaining calm except for the glint in her eyes.
"Celestia," her eyes flickered over to the female wolf for a second, then rested back on Vanth. "This wolf was trying to kill you and even took you as prisoner, yet with a few words from her maw you walk beside her like a companion? Surely you cannot be so gullible."
"Vanth, I believe it was?" now Karma addressed the female. "I appreciate the offer, but you'll have to forgive me if I seem too skeptical. For all I know, this could be a trap, and the information could be false. Or, if it were even true, from what I gathered between that little exchange of your pack, you had betrayed them. Whose not to say you will not betray us in the next second?"
Pausing, Karma had to shift her leg slightly for the wound on her shoulder was becoming worse now that the thrill of the battle was wearing down, but in a skillful matter she hid her weakness for slight impatience. Keeping her gaze on the vixen, her gaze was cool yet alert, keeping her voice even but firm. "I think we'd all feel better if you left. We have no use for such information."

After the departure of Vanth, Cyris continued walking close by the beta, bracing himself in case he was given a sudden order or had to spring into action from a sudden attack (which wasn't very likely but you never knew) or to keep Kali from falling back onto the ground. Flicking his ears, he was aware that the two seemed to be whispering to each other, but the dark-colored male had no intention of finding out exactly what it was they were talking about. Instead, he kept himself occupied by looking to their remaining number of wolves. It wasn't too bad, otherwise, though he couldn't help but notice how all their omegas seem to be gone...
No real loss, Cyris shrugged to himself. Though still disappointing. Looking them over, Cyris shook his head. It was almost shameful to have lost such a battle, what originally became a one-wolf hunt became a pack hunt. How Xander had been able to make so many allies in such little time was beyond him.
Still, it wasn't completely shameful. Not shameless, but not totally humiliating. If it still had only been Xander and they lost, then yes, they might as well have all died back there. But the pack was strong together, and they had underestimated its strength. Despite being outnumbered, their spirits and wills were strong. And he had noticed how they were determined to keep each other safe, just as how any wolf pack would do.
Next time, however, they won't be so lucky, Cyris thought with a solemn air. Next time, we'll be prepared.
