((Short post then I'll wait for Luna))
Karma didn't show any acknowledgement to Lorcan's words, though she sighed inwardly. It wasn't the fact she was worried about him betraying them, but of his killing streak that concerned her. Its the fact that none of it is his own blood that makes it worse, she thought grimly, but kept it to herself. Any arguments now were pointless and she was already out numbered, and there were more important things to be concerned about at the moment. Also, the wound on her shoulder kept growing worse and worse to the point where Karma had to save her breath for moving forward than speak. Dusk seemed to have sensed this.
"It's a good place to look for," Dusk answered Vanth's question, wanting to change the subject. Though he didn't particularly trust her, there was a gentler note to his tone (at least for Dusk) at her compliment to his sister, though he kept himself wary. "Though food we don't have to worry much about since prey no longer runs from us," there was disappointment in his voice when Dusk mentioned this, but he continued on, "Xander, you seem to know a lot about the reason why time froze. Where we come from we haven't heard of this before. If it was able to happen, is there a possible way to reverse the affect?"
Now even Karma looked at him oddly. Unlike her, her brother had little imagination and hardly believed anything capable of happening if it was unreasonable, just like most of the wolves back at home, which was why they don't very often hear of legends or folklore unless it was about some great wolf fighter or pack leader. Dusk glanced sideways at her and shrugged, his eyes saying: "Don't give me that look, you realize we're walking pass a sea of frozen leaves, don't you? It was true, walking beneath the trees there was a group of leaves suspended in midair all around them. Why shouldn't I be able to ask the question?

The beta's howl that sounded through the air unnerved Cyris despite his usual emotionless self, though he still managed to keep up the act. The fact that he had been left in charge during the beta's absence sent pleasure through him, it meant he was on his good side, though this also meant pressure and unpleasantness if something were to happen. Though still, it was only because Kali was down, if she were on all fours he had little doubt she would of been placed in command. The thought was reassuring, because to be put on top meant bad luck to him, for if the pack fails the leader fails ten times over, and usually received the worse punishment. The only way to avoid that, possibly, was to be the Head of Heads, meaning the alpha in this case.
Still, it wasn't entirely bad, either. Cyris, being the torturous expert of the pack, knew how bad a wound could get along with how it could be healed. He had to know these things in case they had to keep a prisoner alive for awhile, so a wound would have to be bad enough to be agonizing but to a point where it wouldn't kill them. With the help of one of the packs healers, he was able to send wolves for herbs and roots that would help the injured wolves wounds, though most of his attention was on Kali for hers were more dire. Really, he was surprised to find such wounds on the vicious and crazed killer, especially since the one who made them was still walking. Was she?
When the beta returned, everything was just about taken cared of. Wounds were patched and some food had been gathered for the hungry to eat. Cyris was standing nearby Kali to make sure she remained conscious when he noticed Zero's presence.
"Welcome back, sir," he rose on all fours and gave a dip of his head in respect, taking a few steps backwards from the lying form of the female. His eyes carefully strayed to the fresh wound on the beta's shoulder, but they returned to meet his gaze. Pointing it out seemed an unwise choice, so instead he focused on what the leader said next. Putting two and two together, it didn't take a genius to figure out how he got the wound. Yes, if a pack fails the leader receives the punishment.
"Orders, sir?"
((Okay, so that wasn't so short after all >.>))
